Has political correctness actually gone mad?

Up next: The Nazis and Klan pull a fast one and begin using the Nike "check" as their new symbol.

Imagine Nike would sue the heck out of them. Maybe Betsy Ross fans should sue the American Nazi Party, though as a former slave owner, some might feel some kinship towards the Nazis.

 I didnt even know she was a slave owner. That's great. A prominent part of her wikipedia page is that she convinced George Washington (also a slave owner) to change the star from 6 points to 5.

Having discussions on Betsy Ross here is a distraction.
Wasn't that 13 star flag the one that was adopted as the symbol of the early US (around the time of the declaration of indepedence) ? That's the one I've seen a lot in Virginny on the 4th of July.
the Nazis should issue a new declaration but make it really similar to the original one (it's not copyrighted, right?) Then the original one would have to put away

To be honest I may have misread Ross a slave owner. Same as @utdalltheway I thought she had used slave labour to make the flag and so assumed she had. Hold my hands up to that one.
It would definitely surprise me about Ross. I could be wrong, but I’ve never read it before, and she was a Quaker.

Mary Pickersgill, however, also made a famous flag, and was most likely a slave owner.

Betsy Ross was a bitchmade flagmaker and didn’t have the ability to come close to the iconic designs of top tier flag countries such as Mozambique.

Did you think she just borrowed someone else's?
I wasn't sure how she came about to using them. They (at the American History Museum in Wash DC) didn't go into that, iirc.
I'm sure borrowing slaves and compensating their owners wasn't unusual.

Anyway, I might have been getting confused with that other flag maker, the one mentioned above by CR, Mary Pickersgill.
It's a huge feckin flag, the one in the museum.
I'm decent but not great, at US History. Still, not too bad for an immigrant that never had no skoolin in it ;)

How big is this flag that makes everyone still talk so much about it?

Both your best flags went racist- the confed and that betsy are miles better than your star spangly one.

Which two are you calling racist?

I mean, one is a given...
Confederation and the Betsy one- the circle of stars is cool. Turns out that Mary Pickwotnot was a racist too.
Given everyone was racist then, shame the good flags got lumbered with the worst rep.

Huge. About 40 ft by 30 ft I believe. It’s on display in its own room at the Smithsonian Museum of US History.
You can see it from space! It would be like rude man of Cern Abbas though- useless unless seen from afar.

Quit confusing/conflating Ross and Pickersgill. I’ve yet to see anything in the historical record that shows Ross as a slave owner.

Proper PC gone mad. You can now boycott Disney while wearing your non-Nike trainers.

I also read how the actress had to be red head too. Utter non sense, this wouldn't even be news if they had hired a white blonde to play this character.

Personally, when they do live adaptations of cartoons, I prefer them to look like their cartoon counterparts, too.
