Has political correctness actually gone mad?

I've said it plenty of times, but if someone identifies as a videogamer (as in, they consider playing videogames their defining trait), there's a good chance they're scum.
 Harsh, but I can't say I disagree too much (though maybe I wouldn't go quite that far). I miss when video games were just a kind of media people enjoyed, rather than being a whole "thing".

It’s Before Common (or Current) Era.
:confused:Presumably it's not a common era to non-Christians, hence why Christ is being dropped from the term.

I've seen BCE being used for years tbh, but assumed it was a variant with the 'C' still meaning Christ. I was clearly an exemplary history undergrad:lol:

To be fair, I didn't say they're guaranteed to be scum, just that there's a good chance. A lot of the idiots are just edgy trolls, but there's a huge issue with misogyny and racism among videogamers. Which is why most people I know who play a lot of games avoids defining themselves by it, because they don't want to be associated with the sociopaths who call everyone f*ggot and n****r and get angry at anything relating to women or minorities.

It's a form of identity politics although rather than identifying with such real world factors as class, race, sex and gender these nerds identify with nostalgia, fandom and consumer culture. So it's no wonder a ton of them turn out to be awful far right bigots.

Apparently it’s been a concept since the 1600s so it’s definitely not new. Just the first time I’ve noticed it in kid’s books.

Just discovered that “AD” and “BC” are falling out of favour. Too Christian, apparently. Discovered this in a fairly right on kid’s book my daughter is reading, all about famous wonen in history. They’re all born either BCE or CE. Not sure I approve.

Why?

Busted

Women can wear sunglasses too. We can all ogle each other. Win win...

Dont know why she is worried about it

Probably assumes every man she's ever seen wearing sunglasses has been rabidly ogling her.

Alas, the truth might be even more upsetting than the fiction.

"Schoolchildren cannot unilaterally refuse to participate in the pledge,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement this week, noting that Texas is one of 26 states with similar Pledge statutes. "Requiring the pledge to be recited at the start of every school day has the laudable result of fostering respect for our flag and a patriotic love of our country."
Ugh.

Condensing the statement to its pedagogical essence we get this:

Schoolchildren cannot unilaterally refuse ... (the) fostering ... (of) love.

Not sure if this is quite right for in here but it needs to go somewhere..

Drivetime: Jeremy Vine calls for BBC to change name of radio show
BBC Radio 2's Drivetime show should be renamed because it celebrates "a form of transport that kills 1,700 people a year

Jeremy Vine was the victim of a foul-mouthed verbal attack while cycling in 2016

The media is responsible for so much of this shite being broadcast. The amount of silly articles you'll see (I've noticed particularly on BBC) about something SJW/PC related and the only source they have for it is a couple of sad cnuts on Twitter with 5 re-tweets and 2 likes.

Pandering to an audience. News media in general has gone this way tbf...

It is so sad how people use this whole platform of change to profit and disrupt the whole movement. I love laughing at the stupid bullshit and especially the "informed" opinions on said matter, but I don't like to be taken advantage of, which is what the media are doing now. We should react on that instead of the bullshit they feed us.
