Harry Potter spoiler thread - POST ANYWHERE ELSE AND YOU'LL BE BANNED!!!

Oh yes I remembered one...How did Malfoy's mommy lie about Harry being dead to the supposed greatest Legilimens the world has ever seen. And she didn't explain whether Snape was better than the greates legilimens the world has ever seen(TM) and thats how he managed to keep his true identity secret all this time. And why did Snape just not use Leglimency in the first 4 books...I always thought this Occlumency crap was a load of convenient tosh.

i wondered how she could have fooled voldermort with that lie. maybe he didn't expect her to lie to him about harry's death so he didn't bother to read her mind?

and im guessing snape must have been brilliant at occlumency as he fooled voldermort all those years.

as for why didn't snape use legimency in the first four books, maybe she (Rowling) didn't come up with it yet then? ;)

Snape did use it in the earlier books, or at the very least we got crappy hints that he did, Harry always thought he could read minds.

Or maybe thats just him being a pre-pubescent speckly lad.

I thought it was good to be honest, one of the best in the series. The chapter all about Snape was brilliant. Some of the deaths seemed a bit pointless though, like Colin Creevey, and the fact that two important characters like Tonks and Lupin would be killed "off-screen" was strange.
Also, the epilogue was poor in my opinion.

does anyone else here think that the movie adaptations are utter rubbish compared to the books? i know they cant put everything into the movie (would be brilliant if they could tho), but i hate it the way the cut some scenes out or change them a bit.

the last movie that came out, i only watched an hour of it last night then fell asleep. its the longest book in the series and only two hours long ffs? and i really don't like the dude playing dumbledore. i liked the previous one whole lot better.

hope at least the deathly hallows movie will be amazing. it has the potential to be a real great movie. esp for the last few chapters.

i personally think the movies can only go downhill from here.

Nothing happens that's screenworthy in book 6, it's all about harry finding out about volfemorts past and about horcruxes

thre's no major action or anything..

Book 7 would be worse with 3/4 of the movie spent with harry wandering around aimlessly then the whole thing finishing macgyver style...

?I enjoyed the book but some of the plot gaps were glaring. Another one is, how come when harry's dad died, his mum and him weren't protected by the same ancient magic that saved harry when his mum died

unless james wasn't thinking about saving lily and harry when he stood between them and old voldy...

i thought she had said one of the main 3 were going to die?

only one movie i can think of that was adapted from a book that was good. lord of the rings. i really enjoyed the book and the movie was great. narnia imo was also good. i remember reading the book when i was much younger and i still remembered the story line when the movie came out.

for anyone wondering how neville managed to pull the sword when griphook had it, hears the answer:

Su: How did neville get the gryfindor sword, is there a link to the hat

J.K. Rowling: Yes, there is very definitely a link to the hat! Neville, most worthy Gryffindor, asked for help just as Harry did in the Chamber of secrets, and Gryffindor's sword was transported into Gryffindor's old hat. The Sorting Hat was Gryffindor's initially, as you know. Griphook was wrong - Gryffindor did not 'steal' the sword, not unless you are a goblin fanatic and believe that all goblin-made objects really belong to the maker.

should definitely visit the site. lots of questions answered by rowling.

this is another question i got answered from that link.

Lady Bella: Whose murders did voldemor use to create each of the horcruxes?

J.K. Rowling:
The diary - Moaning Myrtle.

The cup - Hepzibah Smith, the previous owner.

The locket - a Muggle tramp.

Nagini - Bertha Jorkins (Voldemort could use a wand once he regained a rudimentary body, as long as the victim was subdued).

The diadem - an Albanian peasant.

The ring - Tom Riddle snr.

I can. The time turner thing and why can't it be used to reverse everything ever gone wrong. How the feck did Longbottom () get that Gryffindor sword in an manner even Hindi movies would find it cringeworthy. The fact that there's a death eater named Thicknesse. If the part of Voldemort's Horcrux was in Potter then why after destroying it and being resurrected did he continue to have that scar. If so much emphasis was on his blood, then just inject bits of those into every person's body

Nigel: Can harry speak parseltongue when he is no longer a horcrux?
J.K. Rowling : No, he loses the ability, and is very glad to do so.

Would you watch a 5 hour potter show?

Mind the first few chapters are brilliant as well.

I could just picture the battle on brooms and bike.

haha, probably 90% no. unless, the movie was fecking brilliant, the casting is amazing (ps. i really hate that guy playing dumbledore now, he seems to be a bit hasty during his talking/acting imo), then just maybe i might watch a 5 hour potter movie. maybe.

but around three hours wouldn't have hurt the movie.

yea, the first few scene's would be great. voldermort flying, fred (or was it george) losing his ear, the bike.

the middle bit might bore those who haven't read the book however, but oh well. we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

It was a good book. The middle chapters were a bit pointless, it became too much like LOTR. The ending was great although the epilogue was a bit cheesy. Overall a great series, much better than LOTR.

I'm just gutted that the books have come to an end. I hope she does some spin-off books like the Ministrys deepest Mysteries or something along those lines, but I think she really wants out of the spotlight, like she gave Harry.
JKR has serious talent, and I hope we get more from her.

she gonna do some sort of harry potter encyclopedia with information on characters, places, what happens to them in the future etc. but apart from that no other plans. i wouldn't mind her continuing the story but i think it should stop after the encyclopedia.

Just finished the book....it was an enjoyable read allthough during the middle it got a bit monotonous.

Nice final battle in the end in Hogwarts allthough i did find the epilogue a bit cheesey

I have to say when reading the book it was a little slow paced, but picks up in the chapter Malfoy Manor. Out of all the books i would say this one has my favourite chapter, the Prince's Tale. I think its amazingly well written. Very good book and a fitting if a little cheesy end.

Just as a side note does anyone else think the Dumbledore in the more recent films is shockingly bad. Gambon is a great actor but he is far to aggresive. He literally grabs Harry and shout at him in GoF and in the new film he shouts at the children who are outside (says something like havent you got work to do).
Dumbledore was supposed to be this quiet, reserved, ponderous (not sure if thats a word) character who exudes quiet power (which he very rarely uses) which Gambon does not. I think Gambon more suits the not so whiter than white dumbledore we find out about but that doesnt really matter at this point. And whats with the accent?
I would have to say Harris was far superior in the role.

i agree. harris was made for the role of dumbledore imo. i didn't like gambon's potrayal of dumbledore from the very beginning. like u said, very agressive and and i think hurried. if he's still playing dumbledore in the last movie (which i think he will), i hope he doesnt mess it up or ruin it in anyway for me.

oh wait, just remembered. dumbledore only appears in one chapter in the last book, so no worries about the movie.

yeah thats true but he has a huge part to play in the next film. The part on the tower calls for this frail old man to sympathise with Draco which i seriously doubt Gambon will do very well.
