Harry Potter spoiler thread - POST ANYWHERE ELSE AND YOU'LL BE BANNED!!!

I fecking love Harry Potter

Can I have my rep back now?

How much is the book selling for in the UK?? There's a bit of a fuss here as some bookstores are boycotting as Tesco and Carrefour are selling theirs at RM69.90, which is roughly around 10 pounds, RM40 below the suggested retail price.

Morrisons are selling it for £4.99 to be a penny cheaper than Asda....less than they can buy it for.

Independent bookstores are unable to get the discounts the supermarkets and online retailers will be getting so have to sell at full price....some will be going along to Morrisons to buy their stock.

Just finished reading the book. i goota say I like the twist they did for Snape's part. Was excellent and touching as well.

how many cocks did harry suck in the final book, is that the secreat i always had him pegged as a homo

Wasn't a twist for me. :D

I'm like Dumbledore, me. No, not a long white beard - good judge of character.

You knew how to spell fecking beauxbatons but not 'maxime'?

Anyway, she added a little bit of a tribute to the LOTR with that locket thing.I thought she was going all Frodo and Sam for a second.

Did you think it wasa tribute? Maybe it was. I read into that part that Rowling was showing how the idea of the locket that altered your mood was just one tiny idea in a book flooded with ideas, and not that important. Whereas LOTR is a book with very few plot ideas, the possessed ring being all important.

Snape not being bad was obvious. I thought Harry would die though.

Yeh that wasn't a bad book. Bit of a cheesy ending but i didn't mind too much.
At least i won't be getting banned now.

The only reason she didn't kill any of the main characters is so that a few years down the track, if she needs the money (unlikely, unless she develops a crystal meth habit), she can write a new book and people will be all over it. She probably wanted to kill someone major off, but the publishers probably wouldn't let her.

strange no-one got annoyed or suggested the hand of publishers when tolkien didnt kill off frodo, sam, merry, pippin, aragorn, gandalf etc.

maybe its more to do with good being seen to triumph over evil.

sound book.

LOTR didn't need ten thousand plots.

sound book.

Thats one thing it wasn't.

I found out they sell this with 2 covers, an "adult" cover and a "kids" cover so that adults don't feel like complete morons buying a book for children. This, in my humble opinion, is a bad thing. They should feel like complete morons.

Bar having to read some to the kid I used to babysit, never had owt to do with Potter. I'm assured though by my flatmates missus that this latest book is gruesome, and she wouldn't let her kid read it. If she had one. Which she doesn't

I think most people expected Snape to not be bad. But the manner which it turned out how he was actually good was surprising. No one would have expected that he actually was in love with Lily Evans and that made him switch over to the good side.

You obviously exaggerate. I'll never understand how LOTR is fawned over by millions, it had very little plot to speak of. It was deadly dull and boring, with so much repititious description of the forests. Of course you'll disagree, and that is ok, I'll agree to disagree. Harry Potter in my opinion is far superior because it had characters worth reading about, mystery and above all interesting plot lines.

Isn't it great on this site that people can't come up with an intelligent reply but use insults. Although "your arse is parsley," is a good one:)

Thanks for the book recommendation.

id hardly say thats an insult...more an observation on your opinions.

an insult would be cuntflap or something.

You liked it Livvie?

I can't fathom that even after the luxury of 6 previous books she has to rely on newer concepts in order to finish the tale

You have characters, incidents, places, etc from 6 bloody books. Get a link between all of those and make a unveil a brilliant mystery

Goes to underline the brilliance of LOTR more than anything

give her one.

i loved the book, really good ending. she couldnt have killed any of the really big characters or she would get pelted with stones outside her house every day until she changed the ending.

a few things i would have liked, firstly i think harry should have kicked some death eater ass in the final battle instead of hiding under his cloak all the time.
and a final battle between him and voldemort would have been nice and i know that this would make the 'your wand wont hurt me' line void but still, would have been cool

Disappointing book. I expected much more. The middle chapters were rubbish. The last 6-8 chapters were brilliant but the ending was too abrupt. Could've done with a chapter more before the epilogue. And could've done with that epilogue. fecking awful. Cheesy.

I didn't actually understand Dumbledore's explanation as to why Harry survived the killing curse cast by Voldemort. Something about his mother's blood and all that.

Best bits for me were when Harry casts the Cruciatus on Carrow and Snape's "Look.. at.. me." (in hindsight).

The Bathilda Bagshot chapter was ridiculously disgusting.

Not a very good book, overall.

Wonderful series, though. Grew up reading them.

Rowling has announced that a HP Encyclopedia(I've read it's a collection of short stories, which I hope it is) will be sold detailing the loose-ends of this book and the history of other characters. Mostly stuff from her private notes. Should be interesting.

i meant your man should buck the woman who wouldnt ler her kids read it if she had any.

though rowling would get it...she looks primed for an oily titwank there...take some pictures...sell to the papers..make a mint

Yea, well, Harry doesn't know any curses other than stupefy and expelliarmus. Would probably get his ass handed to him by most other wizards. Just an incredibly lucky guy.

I think there should've been more major characters dying, also. Hagrid should've gone, at least. Lupin/Tonks seemed fecking pointless, especially seeing as it was 'off-screen'.

You and a million others.

You'd be surprised how many people argued the point. Like this.

Snape used Avada Kedavra. Can there be any more solid evidence for his treachery than this? Avada Kedavra is NOT a mercy killing spell. It is murder, and the mother of all Unforgivables. It's the same curse Voldemort used to kill James and Lily, and with which he tried to kill Harry. We know it requires intense, focused hatred towards another individual. The look of hatred in Snape's eyes was not self hatred. It was not hatred of the situation he had wound up in. He hated Dumbledore, hence Avada Kedavra.

I don't know where this person is now, so that I can gloat.

Harry Potter is for wannabe nerds. How bad is that? You can't even succeed in being a decent nerd, you have to go for some fake second-string fantasy bullshit.

Nice ending to the series. Finished the book last week. I thought this is the most depressive of the whole series. So many deaths and lacked the humour that was a trademark of the previous book, but I can understand given the theme of the book (war).
The Prince's Tale was a beautifully written chapter. My favorite part of the book.
