Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2

It's the Slytherin gene in him, probably. Voldemort's mother is a direct descendant of Slytherin. In one of the flashbacks in book 6, Dumbledore goes to visit the kid Voldemort(who is in an orphanage) and Voldemort wants to know about his own parents. And he says something like "My mother didn't have magical ability, did she? She wouldn't have died otherwise.".

slytherin despised anyone who wasn't 'pure blood'. If slytherin was around and in charge then voldemort wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to attend school and learn magic.

I think voldemort is merely using this to get people on his side.

His dad was a muggle and he hated him for doing a runner when he found out his ma was a witch or something. So he hated muggles, hated being a halfblood and hated everyone that wasn't a pureblood.

His mother used a love potion on him and got married and pregnant...i wouldn't blame the father here.

I just cant fathom that he actually believes half-blood and muggle bloods are inferior to pure blood wizards because he is the most powerful wizard right now and he isn't pure blood. I think he's only using it to recruit wizards to his side.

This was the new clip Emma Watson released at the MTV Movie Awards last night.

On a related note, JK Rowling is making a major announcment in 2 days about something Harry Potter related. Nothing to do with the movies. Might be the Harry Potter encyclopedia that she planned on writing

Voldemort was a wizard of prodigious skill. A shame he let it all go to his head and started to believe his own hype..

AdZz, you are such a nerd.

I was laughing at that intensely nerdish comment, in fairness, my nerdality is confined only to LOTR a text of great literary merit and importance.

Not that you understand literature in the least, Smashed.

The fact that you understood such a nerdish comment enough to recognise the fact it was a nerdish comment only reinforces the belief that you are, in fact, a nerd.

This is true, I came into this thread however expecting Emma Watson, so in fairness I came in here with the right intentions. The desire for an erection.

No man deserves less.

Then you should have gone to a Rihanna thread!!!!

Zing.

I didn't bother watching the first half of this, but this does look pretty damn epic from the trailers.

I've got me one of them there fancy Cineworld Unlimited cards too, so I'll almost certainly go to see this.

I should do. I might ask for the DVD for my birthday, and then go and see the second part.

Edit: Nevermind that, it's only £10 on Amazon, I'll get it now.

Secret of J.K. Rowling

For the past few weeks, the Web has been buzzing about J. K. Rowling's mysterious Pottermore project. And while details won't be officially unveiled until Thursday, all signs are pointing to it being an online game revolving around the Harry Potter universe.

A leaked memo has revealed Pottermore to be a persistent world that blends World of Warcraft with real world treasure hunts. Users will dig up clues, which will let them find prizes in the real world.

The memo says Thursday's announcement, which will come via YouTube, will discuss the project's partners and focus on what people can find - particularly quills and wands hidden around the U.S. and U.K.

As often happens with leaks of major projects, it's unclear if the game is the full extent of Pottermore - or simply a tie-in promotion for a larger project. Rowling has made it clear, though, that whatever Pottermore may be, it is NOT a new Harry Potter book.

Potter fansite The Leaky Cauldron is one of the few places that apparently has seen the project. Not surprisingly, they've taken an unbreakable vow of silence about the specifics, but have previously described it as "one of the most amazing, engaging and breathtaking additions to this fandom imaginable".

(Keep in mind, that's a fan site - so the Hogwarts Hype Express runs pretty fast there.)

As for the rest of us Muggles, we'll learn tomorrow how accurate these reports are - and exactly what Rowling has in store for us.

There's good reason for the excitement. The Harry Potter books have sold about 450 million copies worldwide, given birth to a massive film franchise, several video game tie-ins and a theme park. Forbes ranks Rowling as one of the richest women in Britain, with an estimated wealth of $1 billion.

while I'll not be vying for the title of world's biggest Harry Potter fan I'm still looking forward to it.

and I saw a woman yesterday that looked like Hagrid and I got called mean for saying such.
