I meant that Bailly was rated highly before we signed him, was a fast, aggressive CB that did things on the front foot. His weakeness was also perceived to be him Arial ability.

Every season smalling starts out of favour and then becomes the main starter. Will this season finally break that?
With Maguire coming in, I really do hope so. Good servant to our club but he should not be starting any more and I won't really care if he is sold as we have 7 CBs in the squad - we have to get rid of 1 or 2.
Keep Smalling as no 3 CB he's way ahead of Jones and Rojo he can actually defend and is less injury prone. Let his partner do the fancy stuff everyone demands.
Smalling doesn't work as a CB in a progressive system that needs every player to be competent on the ball. That's why he was the least used CB in pre-season, I'd have Tuanzebe in front of him and even Jones, because Ole seems to trust him more, not due to my own preferences.
I feel like one of Rojo and Smalling is the most likely to leave now.

The backups will probably be Rojo and Jones. Rojo LCB and Jones RCB. Tuanbeze for cups or on loan.
Although Jones can play LCB so it might be Jones and Tuanbeze.

I think Bailly was a great player but was totally destroyed by Mourinhos mind games. Most of the team was also but Bailly took it hard.
His first season with us was really good.

Amazing infact. He was also composed passing out of pressure when he got here. I still watch the games and it's like another person entirely. That was supposed to be a masterclass Jose had pulled in the transfer market. I think when he got here he unlearned all the good habits he had picked up in Spain. Same with De Gea who once looked among the best passing GKs in the league. Didn't help that Jose was telling them to 'bypass the midfield' when pressed
