I think Gundogan came back from worse injuries than Umtiti. If it was that serious, Barca would be dying to get him off the books sooner rather than later.

Have you seen how many league games he has played for Barcelona? Last season was 13, the two seasons before that it was 25. We need someone who will be available like 34 games plus. £50m would be a knock down price for a 25 year old centre back playing for Barcelona.

This has to happen - there is no way we get to the end of the deadline without this having been done - only ineptitude of the highest order would allow that to happen.....

Why though will it have taken so long? If we are going to get a couple of new players in before the deadline - which we are very clearly trying to do - have we left it so that they will not have had any pre-season with us and go blind into the first games - that is also very poor - and if it’s Bruno/SMS/Dybala or anyone else from outside the Prem then they’ve got the small task of settling in to a new league/country/climate/team and be expected to turn out stellar performances from the off.....

I’d love there to be one of those Amazon type documentaries on what goes on at Utd head office during the transfer window as it doesn’t seem to be very obvious from the outside.....

Come on Ed - pull your finger out, get your finest Mont Blanc pen out and get someone to sign a bloody contract!

Did you join this forum just to talk about the fact Maguire won't be joining United? Strange newfound hobby don't you think?
Confused as well. Are Leicester fans so excited at the prospect of getting £80m? Makes me wonder which of our muppets are on an Inter forum convincing them to pony up for Lukaku

That right back has a much higher ceiling. We're not getting mugged, get over it
the right back is a much bigger gamble, plenty of players have had 1 great season then never reached that level again.

As for you getting mugged off, I hope you don't pay it obviously as I want to keep Harry at Leicester, but if you did, you wouldn't be getting mugged off

I doubt it could you imagine a United fan signing up to an Inter forum just to repeat the same boring shit every day. ''Man Utd won't be bullied'' ''We hold all the cards'' ''The club have set the price for Lukaku, Inter have yet to meet that price.''

I personally think it's been agreed but Leicester aren't letting anything happen until they have their replacement. We're seeing that happen with Brighton signing a CB from Bristol.

Maguire is worth no more than 65m!!

Maybe that is or isn't true, but most importantly, he ticks all of the boxes for Solskjaer.
Sign Maguire and our defence would be sorted for the next 5 years...
De Gea - 28
Wan Bissaka - 21
Shaw - 24
Lindelof - 25
Maguire - 26

Dalot - 20
Tuanzebe - 21
Smalling - 29

We can then start the attempt to shift some of those surplus defenders, Rojo, Bailly, Darmian, Young & Jones.

You think AWB is a gamble? Preseason or not, I Cant remember the last time I saw someone step onto the field and look this much better than those he replaced. I dont have a single concern about AWB

yes he is, how much of a gamble is up for debate, he has 1 full season of league football under his belt and has just made a big money move, out of his comfort zone, pre season is all well and good but it would't take much for it to go wrong at the start of the season and destroy his confidence and for a player as young and inexperienced as him he could never recover at United.

For the sake of England if nothing else I hope he is a massive success but it is far from guaranteed, I'm sure you've seen your fair share of youngsters look like a world beater at United at first then vanish after that

Can see us walking away from this, at 90mm quid it's a daylight robbery.
Maybe put this on ice until January? See if Smalling and/or Tuanzebe can hold the backline with Lindelof. Problem is that our DM is Matic, and he's not too quick and might need a walker to stay on the pitch.

So the price is now at £90m, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it was £75m at the beginning of this saga? Great stuf Ed.

This is the kind of post I hate. None of us know what's really going down so why does Ed have to take all the blame? There are so many factors and moving parts to transfer deals.

I always heard £80m, then people kept reporting £90m, £75m is what Liverpool paid for VVD so we always wanted more then that

By your logic even Ronaldo was a bigger gamble when we bought him from sporting, when the whole team were begging Fergie to sign him. Anyway, I consider these type of “gamble” as smart gamble, as the players has clearly shown very high ceiling, and is very young.

Sort of think there might be something in this theory. Believe if we'd moved on we'd be hearing much more noise about us walking away or going for someone else.

This could be a very real possibility. Think we are waiting to see if we have to spend 140m on Maguire and Fernandes or 80m on just Maguire. Everything depends on Dybala.

Percy from the Telegraph is an extremely reliable LCFC ITK:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...it-harry-maguire-threatens-go-wire-leicester/

To summarise:
No new bid higher than £60m
United hilariously think anything higher than that is unrealistic despite them having spent £50m on a right back with one good season in the Premier League.
Doesn't mean anything. Clubs just don't bid to get rejected as it could hit their reputation. May be an amount is all agreed and an official bid will follow. As things stand, the bid is still the old number.

Just groom Axel and hope he pans out or get Kanote.
If we are bidding 90 might as well add a few more and push for Koulibaly

In nearly every graphic or potential line up I always see people putting Maguire as the right centre back and Lindelof as the left. Harry plays on the left. This is one of the huge bonuses of adding Maguire to our defence. People don’t understand.

It allows Lindelof to play his preferred side on the right which is obviously much more comfortable for him. Maguire on the left gives us balance and will compliment Victor very well. Then people calling Maguire, “Average” and “Overrated” makes me wonder how many games people have watched of him. He will honestly be great signing for us.

Shaw Maguire Lindelof AWB
De Gea

Solid.

This is all a waste of time for both sides currently. John Percy reaffirming what we all know. Any extra noise from "look at me ITK’s", is just that, noise.
Personally don’t believe the price has ever gone up, and has always been at the 90m target level.
Let’s just see what happens.
You lot have plenty of "personal excitement" to keep you busy with Dybala, etc

Absolutely and of those 8 named above 5 are English. We would be sorted long term, and I can not tell you how content I am now KNOWING 4 of the 5 names on the line-up against Chelsea now and knowing how comfortable I am in them.

Imagine if it were all 5...

Well said. Transfer forum is crazy. It's exciting but all the blame, frustration and rage sprayed around is all based around speculation and stuff we genuinely don't know anything about.

Anyone who thinks it should be straight forward trying to buy a player from a club who isn't too keen on selling their player and even harder when the club doesn't need to sell are just plain ridiculous.

Agreed. To be fair, stuff is just as hysterical on the Leicester forum, albeit perhaps slightly more saguine than on here.
There is one Utd fan who posts every "Harry incoming to Utd tweet" (Regardless of quality of source), so its just as salty, but the other way around :)

Given what he's achieved with LCFC, his age, his profile and his (presumed) desire to try to play for a major footballing power, would any LCFC fans begrudge him the move?

Just feels like all parties would be happy enough with this one getting done.

Yes. Would guess you just need to pay a little bit more.

A very good point! I noted last night that Victor played on the right which might be a clue!?

£85m plus add ons is an unreasonable price meaning he's not for sale. If they're unwilling to negotiate, move on quickly.

Maybe they are going to take Jones or Rojo which explains this jump to 90mil. On a more serious note felt like 70 mil was ridiculous then it was reported it was 80 and now it’s supposedly 90. Leicester must just be taking the piss at this point if they think he is worth 90 mil.

As someone else said above what’s with all these people that seem to be massive fans of Maguire that when they post a line up they keep playing him on the right? Some might think they’ve never actually seen him play since he plays on the left.
