Harry Maguire | Signed

Why would Pep be interested in him? Considering he pin pointed MaGuire as a weakness City should exploit in that Netflix documentary they did.

Because he’s actually a really good player and most people on here have no idea what they’re on about when talking about defenders.

In the context of this season, the ambition of Leicester City, the current situation at Old Trafford and the untested waters of having Ole as full time manager, I think it’s quite fair to say we’re in direct competition with one another for the European places this season. For that reason alone we shouldn’t be selling Maguire to you.
All Leicester have to do is put out a formal statement saying "he will not be sold this window" and everyone will move on.

Yep with the way so many talk highly of Bailly, it's quite obvious when it comes defenders this place certainly has its fair share of people who simply don't have a clue.

its far too much air time, too many social media interactions & website clicks for Sky Sports to let it drop, Even if we did do that they would go big about how you are trying to convince us

I have liked him as a player since he played for Hull. My strongest impression of him was that he was such a tidy defender with the ball at his feet.

I can't imagine what people are thinking or seeing when they think Bailly should be anywhere near the first eleven. Smalling for all his faults is still comfortably better than him. I just don't understand, what am I missing? It's like the people on here who still blindly defend Martial.
Have you seen how Smalling kicks a ball? Throws shapes like an awkward basketball player kicking with his weak leg.

Who would you recommend as this world class CDM we should sign please? I would have liked to enable us to play Pogba and Fernandes (should he come) together. I think McTominay will be ok for now as he follows Ole's instructions to a tee and is improving all the time mate :)

I like McT further forward, he's a bit wasted in the Matic role because he's very good on the press for a young guy and isn't just good at breaking up play, he can also play a bit. Let's not get carried away though, we don't really know how good he is and realistically will he be top level? We'll only know in a few years. It's not even a case of needing to be WC, they can just be a good player and would immediately improve us.

Personally, I think we've always lacked someone like Doucoure who is more of CM/DM who can sit deep, cover and also get forward to contribute to attacking phases. They won't directly score or assist a ton but they'll be involved in a lot of attacking work. We were very easy to play through last year because I feel our CM core is well below average in terms of it's ability to recover the ball & transition into defensive shape. We were just a bit slow all round. Off the top of my head players like Gueye, Doucoure, Ndidi, maybe Rice although I'm not sold on him or Brozovic (who in my mind is what McT could become and is a v well balanced CM). Could also say Partey although I know nothing about him in honesty.

Because most footballers just do what their agent tells them to and don't do much thinking of their own. Having said that even without the contract extension he still would have had 3 years left on his deal. And i suspect Leicester would still want the fee they do currently.
Fair enough, didn't realise it was just a one year extension.

he signed a new deal because we doubled his money, I'm sure if he's still here come the close of the window he will get another new contract with a massive bump in pay

Doucoure is one of the most overrated footballers about.

Where does the bidding stand? If its true we are bidding 70 and they want more why dont we just ask what they want and then either pay it or move on? Seems like something you could do via conference call. This is painfully slow.

We could do with a right mid and centre mid still as well.

And whats happening with the likes of darmian etc? Even just clearing his wages for a nominal fee would be good considering hes not going to kick a ball for us.

Quite a frustrating summer but happy with the two signings so far

I agree on you point about McTominay. I think we just to see how he develops, hoping he does well. I really wanted N'Didi this season but I feel if we go for him next year they will add at least another £10m to the fee if he keeps developing well. Gueye would have been a good signing as he is a beast in my opinion but he doesn't seem to fit in with us trying to sign younger players but I think he would do a lot better job than Matic. But I think Matic' rapid decline has put off buying older players as I fear Woody is scared a similar situation happening again mate.

Agree with your post. We should get this signing done as soon as possible to leave us enough time to get an alternative, should we not be able to come to an agreement. Think everyone besides Woody can see we need a right midfielder but I think he's going to go all out for Sancho who should he even decide to come is going to cost a massive fee. Would like to go for Lozano as he has a €40m release clause which is nothing in the current market. I thought Darmian would definitely be this year but I think he may wait until next year to move on a free. Regarding your last point as there are 3 weeks left in the window I'm hoping for something special from Woody mate, not looking very promising though.

It does seem very protracted but then look at other deals too like DeLigt.

I get the impression clubs don’t pickup the phone and call each other anymore, it’s all done through agents/middlemen. This slows the process

Im openly not a fan of woody or the glazers for that matter. But i respect woody for the success hes had as a banker and finance man at a top bank.

What baffles me is, in this instance, its bread and butter business. You could sort out the basics in a day.

Maguire is an intangible asset, the owner of which isn't under pressure to sell and doesn't want to sell. So the ball is totally in Leicesters court on their valuation. Really, we just need to say ‘how much do you want’ and if its miles apart from our valuation we move on or give them a figure that is our maximum bid to try and haggle them down. If they wont budge you move on.

If we are prepared to pay what they want we have to structure the payment arrangements and make the offer officially. If we cant agree on payment arrangements, its beyond our means, then again we move on. If we can agree we sign him.

Its no good trying to go back and forwards upping your offer by a small amount each time. Which seems to be what we are doing.

Thats not bad for Lozano but doubt we will go for him. The new contracts for Darmian and rojo were baffling. And yeah, fingers crossed we get a couple more done. That said I like the look of some of the youth players atm, just think it would be too much to expect them to play most games.

In my opinion Martic legs have gone and we can't rely on him to be a regular starter and would have preferred to sign Fabinho that summer. I think he should be kept just for the big games where I think he could be extremely useful mate and I think we should be looking for a replacement for next summer.

I agree, we are 3 weeks away before the transfer closes, CB and creative midfielder has to be the target? We cannot get rid of all experienced players.

I just dont understand what is taking so long on this transfer. As far as I'm concerned either make the deal happen, or move on to other targets with a lower price tag. We are really hurting our own prospects of making Top 4 next year by not getting deals done more quickly.

Thats probably right, but just seems barmy that an agent needs to be involved with the clubs agreeing a fee.

I find it strange that these Leicester city fans think they can just walk up and take a top 6 spot. I want some of what they are smoking, even as bad as United, Chelsea and Arsenal are we are still better than the rest of them. They couldn't even beat a newly promoted wolves to 7th. Talk about overestimating yourself.

At the end of the day the top 6 have way better squads and even if they lose a key player or fail to sign a centerhalf or whatever you still don't have enough quality to match them. Just look at the points tally between 6th and 7th and then you realize how much you have to make up. On top of all that drama, Top 6 compare themselves to other top 6 and europe. So united squad is better than everyone else in the Premier league bar the top 6 but is crap when compared to the top 6 and Europe.

how do you know we aren't talking to someone else or that we have no intention of meeting this valuation or we are just tying up the deal as we speak . Papers and Journos just spin stories , we have been preparing a bid for Bruno since March if they were to be believed

I think most of us are asking the same questions, only a few on here who think Ed is doing a good job because of his credentials.

It's possible that a large deal such as this may involve shopping your business plan around to different lenders, which can take time.

Hate to hear this tbh. Don't like when players throw a fit for a move especially when they literally just signed a contract a year ago. Hope this gets resolved quickly

He's only human tbf. This is his best chance to move to a big club. Who knows whether another opportunity for a big move comes again.

It could be that Leicester are halting over a silly modest change in the transfer which could be winding him up.

It's a random twitter account.

Why is this dragging out I thought we agreed a fee days ago ?

Duncan Castles seem to be covering his ass on this one by claiming we agreed the fee and thought it was a done deal but then the Leicester chairman decided he didn't like the structured payments and wanted all 80 million up front. He also claimed that we were ready to announce but LCFC have not finalized the deal for Dunk and don't want to let on they have 80 million to spend until Dunk is signed which seems like bs because if they are signing him the selling club is obviously going to know it is because Maguire is leaving.

Exactly. The window for the rest of Europe closes about 3 weeks after ours shuts, so plenty of time to sell those that are surplus to requirements. We need to concentrate on bringing the players in.

Woodward will have nowhere to hide if we don’t sign anybody else. The fans will destroy him if we start poorly.

They have not gone back on any alleged gentlemans agreement, our owner has clearly stated that they will not stand in Harrys way as long as an acceptable bid has been received and he wants to make that move.

This gentlemans agreement stuff is being trotted out far too much though, if they are that binding why bother with contracts,as they appear to be usurped, based on your comment?
Ronaldo had one with SAF, and he stuck to it, Ronaldo was under contract! It's up to the person or people who run clubs, SAF left Ronaldo go after Real came in, gave his word asked him to stay for 1 more season which he did, then left for Real.

It's up to the individuals if the Foxes want to go back on there word it's up to them, you got the right manager in as well to go back on his word Rogers can't believe what comes out of his mouth.

Bet they sack him in a season or so or he says best club I've been at the buggers off to another one. Guys got form . Good luck though.

we haven't though, the agreement was we wouldn't stand in his way if our valuation is met, he would have been told what that was, the reason this deal hasn't happened is simple, Manchester United have not met that valuation

The gentlemans agreement stuff, if you believe it existed, surely has to be complicated by the fact that the owner Harry may have agreed this with very sadly passed and so it is a different owner we are dealing with now

To me, it just shows how how little some people comprehend this aspect of football.
