I tend to agree with you that this is a ploy to get Leicester to agree to the Fofana deal. It's quite clever.

To be earnest, not joking, I wrote in this thread a post criticizing a lot of the posts here for being wilfully childish, which I think is a fair and accurate asessment. I didn’t do it behind anyone’s back, so I don’t think it’s that dubious. It annoys me when people want to claim stuff without caring about the truthfulness of what they claim. I know, it’s all too serious, nobody bothers, they just want to have a little banter, so normally I shrug and read something else. But tonight I answered seriously, and answered a lot of probably incincere posts, which was stupid of me.
I’m not gonna retract on the opinions that Maguire is among the four best defenders at the club currently, and that McTominay is a decent footballer, even if United should have better starting choices in midfield, and that it’s stupid to think that anyone not good enough to be a starter at Man United is a shit footballer. Because I happen to think all those claims are reasonable. Now I’m going to bed to wipe my slates clean. Sorry for the lack of humour and humility.

I disagree. At the very least in three seasons if Pulisic doesn't do all that well, he'll have some decent resale value, by comparison Maguire won't, given their respective ages. We know Maguire doesn't work for us particularly if we want to play a high line. Pulisic might or might not work.

Well yes Maguire is one of the four best defenders at the club but we only have 4 that I'd bother counting. Obviously McT isn't an objectively shit footballer. He'd probably do well at a smaller club but he's far from the standard of player who should be a first team player at United so by comparison to the greats he falls well short. People get frustrated and call him shit but it's shorthand for not good enough for a club this size. I get that the negativity can get to people and I avoid player performance threads for that very reason but I was being light-hearted with my question as you seemed to get dragged down to the level you were apparently railing against which I found a little amusing.
Either way, it's not a story that's going to generate clicks.
