Mykonos has been the most popular vacation spot for PL players and celebs this summer, so not just a random brit lad trip decision.
His sister was (allegedly) attacked first and they were defending themselves, not realizing it was plain clothed police in a stressful situation.
Greece is widely considered to have corruption problems, with sources linked several times here.
Defense was hardly given time to prepare, plus denied several pieces of evidence to be used.
Tired of seeing this have to be explained on every page to someone coming straight from a Sun article.

These are not being judged at the court in this case. Would be a case against the Albanians. Maguire is being judged for his alleged actions.

Coincidentally, I know a little about Greece and its culture as my brother was married to a Greek and lived their for over 10 years. I’ve been there a zillion times and experienced a lot of the Greeks and their culture.
I’m not denying that in general the Greeks have, let’s say, liberal values with regards to back handers and such. (But then again, you could say the same about Belgium for example.) Tax evasion was even a national sport in Greece. However, where does it say that their juridical system is a sham or that their police force is corrupt? Corruption can take on many forms, in some countries their governments award massive contracts to to their ‘mates’ to supply PPE...

The second clip is hard to make a conclusion from.
The weird thing about the narrative on Greece's corruption is that.. if it were corrupt, wouldn't the bribe have been taken and this whole thing just gone away? The biggest leverage you have as a corrupt player is to have the story disappear.
Now that it's a suspended sentence, the incentives here are completely different and the sums don't get larger or more guaranteed.
