I was trying to quickly think of a scenario where the charges are different to what actually happened, thought I done rather well haha!
Calm down my lad, I hope just like you that those versions of events are true but I'm just looking at it from an outside point of view and any clubs captain of player of note being arrested and charged abroad would be a bad look.
Doesn't mean it's right nor just but thats just how things are in the world today the same way any CEO or executive level employee being caught in legal trouble will reflect poorly on their company/employer regardless of how just they are in whatever actions led to said legal trouble.
Heck that applies even for regular people like us, we probably wouldn't even be allowed to plead our case before getting reprimanded by our employers if ever we were charged with an offense
It’s tough because the reasons behind the initial confrontation could be justified if they turn out to be true.
For a general person like us, I’d like to think that the company would put you on leave until the facts are out, but we both know that, that won’t happen.
I personally don’t like how the actions of an employee should reflect badly on the company, a company isn’t a manager of their employees actions outside of work or hold their hand every waking moment of the day. An incident happens and its down to the company to react based on how they want their employees to act, if they don’t fall in line, then act accordingly. But the actions affect the employees status at the company, not the company itself.
The club should act appropriately, do I think he should be sacked. No. Do I think he should be stripped of the captaincy? Temporarily. Yes. MUFC is reknowned for wanting their players to be squeaky clean. That being said, I don’t think this incident reflects badly on the club.
I may be talking myself round to seeing it on a different light as if you take the band off him, in effect i’m agreeing with you as by taking it off him, it’s saying “it makes the club look bad”
Should he go straight back into the squad. That one is on Ole.
Put him in shows you are backing him & face media scrutiny for backing a “thug”
Put him on the bench, shows you dispute his version of events and are effectively punishing him and don’t believe him.
