What case goes to court less than a week after an incident?
Not really,I've seen a good amount in the middle, myself included, who don't necessarily buy all the dodgy details reported by the police but also think Harry put the club in a tough spot.
Would love for it to be found that he was actually defending his sister against unsolicited aggression and predatory behavior but it's still a bad look from the outside, outside of the fanbase, looking in right now given the lack of clarity.
Him being found guilty will only increase the media circus surrounding this heading into the new season by keeping it in the news cycle even longer
Not having ample time to defend yourself is shocking. If anybody is taking the moral high horse in here about it they arent worth listening to.

If this suspended sentence sticks I assume Maguire will be unable to travel to a European tie against Olympiacos. If that kind of situation ends up costing us further down the line that will be pretty shit, otherwise I'm not worried at all.

Because police across the world do have a track record of blindly supporting their own or falsifying a set of events, whereas people of colour had a history of their cries of racism being ignored and dismissed. Dismissing the validity of a police statement doesn’t make you a bad person whereas dismissing accusations of racism does.
I do think the police are right and Harry was out of order, but I do think he did so in exceptional circumstances. I don’t think lesser of anyone for blindly supporting him. At best he was fighting to protect his sister and at worst he was a drunk English tourist who got into a fight. I do think lesser of people who blindly supported Suarez, because at best he just said something racist (which is horrific) and at worst he is legitimately a racist (which I doubt).
I think it’s more just people not understanding the nuances of Law, really. Now criminal law isn’t exactly my forte, nor do I have any idea of Greek law, but in the UK it would simply be on the prosecution to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Harry Maguire attempted to bribe a police officer and that he committed aggravated assault. His motive for doing so - i.e. attempting to protect his sister (if that’s confirmed to be true?) - for the most part, isn’t really a mitigating factor for the charge. And even if it is, it’s something that would be considered in relation to the severity of the sentence for the charge - not whether or not he’s actually guilty of the charges.I think he is guilty of everything he has been charged with and can imagine it happening, when he was drunk and in a highly emotional state.
The Albanian and his sister is also most likely true, but that has nothing to do with these charges, which were a separate event, and have been proven in a court of law.
But English men think fighting is normal and just for banz, and any foreign cop who doubts that much be corrupt.
Now @Martial’sEmergingSmile posted an excerpt from a Greek paper on page 62 stating that three witnesses gave evidence confirming Maguire and his friends to be the aggressors. That’s pretty compelling evidence in favour of the prosecution. From the wee excerpts of tweets I’ve seen from Maguire’s side; it doesn’t sound like the most sturdiest of defences that has been raised.
I’m sure we will see more information come to light as the weeks progress, but people really need to tone down the idea that this is some bizarre corruption plot to wring Maguire for all the money he has to give to the mafia. It’s a bit weird.

But Winter is right. What happened to Maguire happened to other players before him. He has to admit that he s no longer the boy living next door - which will change his lifestyle.
Next time, he employs a bodyguard to take with him on vacation and go to places which are more secure for someone like him. He s known as being a down to earth person, but he cannot be that any more. At least that's what's his new role demands

Unless you're waving a big stack of bills in their face, an offer of a bribe doesn't mean anything. Assuming there even was an offer. You really think the police there have the intelligence and foresight to consider tourism ramifications when they're 'dealing' with boozy locals?
I don't doubt Harry and co were behaving like idiots, instigated by what happened to his sister. And the way the police responded by detaining them instead of looking for the other parties no doubt riled them up even more. Do we even know if the police took his sister to hospital? Because from how it reads they took all of them to the police station rather than getting her checked out first.
This will surely have an effect on him I fear, he's only human.
Sorry if I am late to all this but is there any evidence other than waiting on above. At this point why would anyone believe either side? It looks like 2 different opposing versions out there. How can you choose to believe either?

That is probably why they did not show any police station coverage. That should have been part of the defence but was not released. Would it surprise anybody if the camera wasn't working or they accidently wiped it.
