He played two minutes and still managed to bring pressure on a team and make them nervous. He provides zero calmness. Awful

That last minute stupid header he did on the edge of our box is why I get so infuriated with him. He was under 0 pressure, had 2 United players next to him but instead just aimlessly heads it forward to a Wolves player

He is such an idiot at times I can't even give him any benefit of the doubt. He does this too often
Worse is he relishes those kind of situations.

That was such a frustrating situation.

He's dreadful. His level is Leicester / Everton which is where he needs to be sold

I give him credit for the one he put behind the goal for a corner. At first glance I thought it was going to be an own goal but he got it right

It's not looking for him here. If I was him I would be desperate to leave, if the manager is picking a LB ahead of you then it's over. Sell him and bring in a striker with the money

Shaw may have sold our striker issue because he showed we don't miss him when martinez is out, we should capitalize on his decent world cup and see if we can get 40+ million for him because the longer he stays the lower his valuation will go down as 4th choice behind varane, martinez and now shaw.

Sell him along with beek, plus money saved on ronaldo wages and we could fund buying a good striker this January

He should stay at Wolves. Their style of football would perfectly suit them.

Camped in their own box with no space, just kicking and heading it away when required.

Seeing him run on for 2 minutes and take the captains armband is pretty funny

Thank goodness his clearance header straight to a Wolves player didnt lead to anything and that his clearance following De Geas save didn't go into our net.

He really isn't worth over analysing. The manager doesn't rate him and he will be sold in the summer. Will only play a handful of games at most between now and then.

I can't speak for Everton but Leicester don't want him back. His 190 a week would destroy our wage structure.
Not many clubs outside of the big 6/7 can afford his price & wage package.

Fecking shameless.

Is he still ill cause if not he’s finished here?

Oh yeah guy's done out here just hasn't got the attributes he wouldn't be on the bench if he was ill. Even without the two world cup winning CB's ahead of him ETH would rather play a LB and a CM before giving him a start, i mean the last one he had was in August.

The last two appearances certainly didn't help either almost conceded within the first minute twice, what a superpower he has man its like when he puts on that armband the entire team crumbles.

Watching him coming on for 2 minutes and taking the armband like he thinks he is the big man when all it really does is make him look insecure and weak.
The sooner we make Varane or Casemiro the captain the better

As for him taking the armband when he comes on, can't it simply be because the team agreed before the season even started that the captain wears the armband whenever he's playing? And isn't this pretty much what every pro team does? I'm all for criticizing players when they deserve it but I'll never understand why a United fan would have a go at him for this sort of stuff.

Do fans of other teams go out of their way to find something they can use to shit on their own players as well, or is it just us?

You do realise Bruno came off? Did you want Maguire to not put the armband on? Very weird criticism here for a 5 minute cameo.

He is captain. When he's on the pitch, he should wear it.

No, that detail escaped me. I accept that I have an irrational and increasing dislike of Maguire which clouds my judgment.

He's been benched, he comes on for 5 minute cameos to defend corners (and I think actually headed away one of them). He tries his best but he's not suited to Ten Hag ball, I don't think we need to slaughter him anymore. Fair enough for admitting though.

I hate his habit of booming headers as far as possible. When you're battling another player in the air, boom it away but when you're unchallenged he should be looking to find a teammate.

I understand that ETH wants to have depth but keeping Maguire, defender who he sees as 5th choice now and who for sure is not his type of defender, is just bad business. We must try to sell him this winter. Tuanzebe and Mengi can be 5th choice defenders. Even Jones can do it.
Varane and Lisandro will start every single PL/EL game. If Varane gets injured, we have Lindelof. If 2 defenders are out, we have Shaw.

Surely he can’t have been fit today - haven’t read back through all the posts but what I’m picking up here is that ETH actually preferred to play a left back instead of a fit HM at centre back?

Maguire is unlikeable partly due to his own actions - giving an interview in the middle of his and United's worst seasons claiming that if he wasn't doing sonething right, the managers wouldn't pick him to start and then celebrating like a clown against the mighty Albania. He just doesn't seem like he has self awareness of his own faults.

Having said that, ETH surely doesn't rate him if he is picking Shaw over him as a CB. The fact that no one is bemoaning that team selection shows how poor Maguire has been for us and how unnecessary he is in this team at the moment. In a team that looks to build from the back quickly, he doesn't look the most suitable centerback for sure.

ETH “If on the pitch, Harry Maguire will remain Captain”

Also ETH “Luke Shaw please play CB because otherwise I’ll have to put Harry on the pitch”

So glad we have a manager who can see the things we see. It breeds confidence to know that absolutely glaring issues with the squad are finally being addressed.

Harry Maguire is done at Utd. We have TWO World Cup winner at the back now and ahead of them one of the best defensive minded players in the game who would probably fill in better than he would. Not only is he not one of the best defenders at the club, he’s not one of the best leaders either.

Let’s use his World Cup with England to get a decent price for him now in January and reinvest in a Striker

I struggle to see who will buy him, maybe West Ham or Everton. He could do a job abroad as well but the issue remains around a transfer fee and wages, not many will spend it on him.
He had a good World Cup and I hear loads of pundits saying why cant he replicate the same form for United as well?
International football is vastly different and inferior to the Premier League, its slower paced and against significantly weaker opposition.
Premier League is faster paced, the competitiveness between all the teams is a lot closer as any team can beat anyone.
Plus he doesnt fit the system, West Ham with Rice in front of him and sitting deep suits Maguire, he cannot play higher up the pitch.

The header he done yesterday shows his lack of awareness and intelligence, before he jumped he was bound to see the 2 United players either side of him and no one for 10 yards around any of them and then proceeds to hand back possession in the dying seconds of the game. No issue with him getting the armband as he came on either, all teams do this when the captain comes on, he just shouldnt be captain in the first place.

I like people’s optimism BUT who on earth is going to buy him and pay him around £200,000 a week! Literally racking my brain and can’t think of anyone! Sure, teams would pay £20-30 million but those wages will prove a huge stumbling block! I can even see a situation where we have to subsidise his wages at a new club!

England proved he can still perform when all conditions are perfect for him ie: low block team that counters and doesn't have to defend attacker's getting behind him.

He has no business in a top team which invariably looks to control the ball. Because in these teams the defender is going to be doing more attacking and starting attacks than actually defending

He was coming on instead of Bruno so I was fine with it. But when player comes on pitch instead of random players and current on-pitch captain is forced to come to him and give him the armband for the rest of the game, that must be one of most stupid stuff you can see in football, whether it's Harry Maguire or someone else.

Harr Maguire is 30 this summer. It would probably be more lucrative for him to sign a new contract now then in two years (when his excisting contact expire). In other words, maybe he could accept a five year contract at a bit lower terms for the next to years.

I also think Maguire could be an attractive player for several teams. Maybe we would have to cover some of his wages (for instance by reducing our transfer fee)? Still think Man Utd should be able to fetch £25-30 mill for him.
