Harry Kane

We should go for him, at 25m. Cant believe people want him for an exorbitant price, even if he is a good player. He still wont have a better or similar season as last year.

Levy will want 45M for him at least.

Two issues...

1) There have been numerous one hit wonders. yes I think Kane is the real deal but splashing the cash gives no guarantees.

2) I do not want to play with two strikers,. until I see LvG willing to sit Rooney I have ZERO interest in another striker. I want a CM 3, not a 4-4-2.

Based on the above two issues I see little point. Not my money so no huge complaints if it comes off but I would much rather Pedro and/or Otamendi for what we need.

And thinking about it... if Januzaj started striker for Spurs instead of Kane last year, how many goals do you think he might have netted? Just curious...

We should not go for one year wonders. So far Kane is like that. He had one great year and mediocrity before that at best. If we will really contemplate at buying him we should at least wait another year and see if he had the same.

Yeah and his record's similar to Andy Carroll's. Just one decent season.

We don't need to through money at a centre back.. Don't let the media get you. What we need is someone to put the ball in the back of the net EVERY week. Thats what will get us back to the top not another defender. We have Smalling, lets just believe in him.

With Clinton N'Jie now signed today, that's step 1 completed in the re-structured attacking options focused around Kane. Step 2 should be - and hopefully will be - happening soon.

That nailed it for us. I mean who wouldn't want to play with Clinton N'Jie?

He came off due to a calf strain I believe. But he was really good before coming off. I think because many are almost willing him to have second season syndrome, that when he puts in performances like todays, they'd rather focus on the fact he didn't score. As with the chance he created for Erisken against us, he played another fantastic pass today that Mason nearly scored from. The boy can just play. He's so much more comparable to Rooney than Carroll. He's good enough to be worth his place in a top team even if he doesn't score. You can't say that about someone like Costa. But Kane has the vision and technique to open defences with his passing. Spurs fell apart today after he went off, as they didn't have anyone who could hold the ball up and link up the play.

I thoroughly agree with this, if we were to buy Kane then it would have to be to replace Rooney.

Come off it, Costa was brilliant in Spain and gave the best two teams in the world a nightmare when he played them. Come back when you can say the same for Kane.

Yes we have Smalling, now we need a proper CB partner for him.

lots bumping of this thread last few days .... is there are credible rumours that we are signing him?

I suppose I'll be the third person to agree. we're not going to sell Rooney (nor do I think we should just because he's been shit in his last handful of games). no point buying another reserve striker, Hernandez and Wilson are perfect 2nd and 3rd choices respectively. I'd like to see them given chances instead, might also give Rooney the impetus to stop playing like a Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime

How'd he do against Stoke?
Didn't do a huge amount. Had one decent chance on the half volley. His movement looks pretty good. When they took him off (maybe a fitness concern?) they missed his focal point much more than him actually playing brilliantly.

Looks more lively than Rooney though.

Costa gave the two best teams in the world who happen to be in the same league a torrid time. Considering he also played for the 3rd best team in that league this is hardly suprising. On the other hand kanes 2 goals for the only 6th or 7th best team in england vs chelsea is just as good considering his youth.

In all honesty Costa is better than kane but is not a particularly world class player. Atletico have a fantastic way of creating goals and creating strikers; just look at griezmann these days. Kane can easily reach costa's level eventually. Easily.

He made a superb pass to Mason that created the best chance of the game. He also played a great pass the Davies that set up Spurs second. I seriously doubt any other striker in the Prem, will be playing passes of that quality this week. Nowhere near enough emphasis is placed on what a good player Kane is. Jermaine Jenas said the same as you on MOTD and it's just not true as he was the most creative moments of the game came from Kane's passing and vision.

yeah completely overlook the two brilliant passes for Mason and Davis. One was 100% chance for Mason to score(1v1), the second he had second assist for the goal, started the move with his creativity. He showed he's complete opposite to proper "no9" he can drop deep and play such passes, he also showed it when he played pass over the top to Erricksen who missed Romero's goal in the first game. He's great all round striker at the age of 22, easily better than mediocre at best Rooney.

Totally forgot that pass, apologies  I thought he was more lively than against us to be fair, but that's to be expected. And agreed he's looking better than Rooney

Random thought, if Levy was adamant he would sell Kane if Rooney went the other way....thoughts?

The centrality that hernandez bought with him in the brugge game shows exactly why kane should be targeted as rooneys natural game is to drift anywhere and everywhere.

Let rooney and januzaj rotate behind the striker and let rooney kane & hernandez rotate up front.

I'd pay up to 50M for him. He's exactly what we need. Good in the air, good with both feet, good in the build up, good running in behind.

In a heartbeat. I can't see Levy being okay with those wage demands though... I also can't see Rooney being willing to go there.

United fans should be hoping this guy turns out to be the real deal. If he does prove to be, I fully expect him to be signed within 2 seasons max.

If this guy goes on to be as good this season as he was last season then his price doubles. If he scores 20+ goals this season and plays as well as he did Levy will want as much for him as he did Bale. In other words this one ain't happening lads.
