Harry Kane MBE | Performances

As in he's come through and banging in the goals as they can't afford a striker of that quality
They are still far better than Everton, they were doing fine without Kane at the beginning of the season.

Kane should be playing for England's best clubs.. no offense to spurs but if they fail to win anything this season he should consider his options.

People complain about disloyalty in football but if Kane stays loyal and wants to remain at Spurs people should appreciate that.

I would favour Neymar and would prefer to buy him as he has that "Je na c'est quoi"
Kane is comfortably better than Neymar, and as an added bonus he comes with considerably less drama, so no question about who I'd prefer.

Undoubtedly one of the finest strikers on the planet. It's not often you get someone who looks so assured in front of goal.

I think so as well, and I think we're real title contenders as well, maybe that's just my optimism, but I think some people are too quick to claim it is a 3 horse race.

I don't think Spurs can be discounted as a contender at all, they've looked really good. Also, they're a club I don't mind at all. If United don't win the title I'd be happy to see Tottenham take it.

He is a boyhood spurs fan. His entire family are life long spurs fans.

Does that quash the ambition to play for the biggest clubs and the desire to get payed something vaguely close to what he's worth though? For his entire career? Even when his teammates with more casual ties to the club start moving on to greener pastures?

If it does then he's an admirably stupid man.

Spurs are on the way to being one of those big clubs. Maybe he would prefer to be part of that transformation and become a legend at the club he loves?

Until they start paying world class wages, they won't be able to retain the talent to do so. Although I think out of your big players, he's the one most likely to stay.

I'm sure he'd love that but he will also want the wages and trophies that being one of the world's best strikers should warrant, is there a guarantee of either with Spurs?

I'm pretty sure he will get a bumper new contract soon. The club will have to increase the wages and they will imo.

If Madrid come knocking it's hard to say no and I believe they will if he keeps this up for the whole season. I definitely can see him staying but it won't be an easy decision for him either way.

Yeah maybe. I think you'd be hard pressed to keep either him or Eriksen if Real came knocking, though. They'd likely want to go, especially Eriksen.

Real need a new WC attacking player, Ronaldo is old, Benzema is past it and Bale is getting booed. Kane seems the obvious shout.

Spurs are going to reach the level of the top spending clubs while systematically underpaying their best players? Good thing footballers are famously uninterested in material rewards, else that would seem unlikely.

Unlucky marginally offside, seen worse given.

Why?

Relying on a players loyalty will only get you so far mate.

Kane is on about £100k a week? Clubs across Europe will gladly pay him three to four times that amount if he keeps this scoring rate up.

Spurs will need to obliterate their wage structure to keep the likes of Kane and Ali. The sooner Levy realises that, the better for you it will be.

Why when he was a youngster was he wearing an Arsenal shirt then? Strange thing for a boyhood Spurs fan to do considering the rivalry.

Can't argue with that. £100k a week is huge in the context of us lads but as world class strikers go he's not even at the bottom end of a range, he's earning a pittance to what he could earn.

Spurs are on the way up but they currently aren't there yet. Kane maybe a Spurs fan but Rooney is a die hard Everton fan but soon realised if he wanted to win trophies and be remunerated at his true value he had to move.

Now granted Spurs are in a better position than Everton but they still haven't won anything, they're nearly men. It reminds me of Bayer Leverkusen in the early noughties. 2nd place all the time and eventually the team was dismantled. Spurs have just built the stadium which will curb spending for a few years. If they pay Kane £300,000 for sure his team mates will want similar packages. Spurs won't be able to do this and Levy certainly won't allow it.

In the end I think the real question is where would he go. Many of the top clubs in England don't need a striker or could afford him. It pretty much leaves Madrid, Barcelona or PSG. I don't think Kane would move abroad just like most English players.

You'll need to be consistently winning the premier league and Champions league over the next 20 years before you will be compared globally to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and Manchester United mate.

You need to either obliterate your wage structure now for Kane or he will be gone in a year or two.

He's on £100-150K apparently, we can't afford to "obliterate" are wage structure quite yet. I'm pretty sure Kane will be with us for the foreseeable future 2-3 seasons, he has said time and time again he has no intention of moving. I can't say the same for Dele or Eriksen but who knows, I'm just enjoying the ride.

Rose quote in Harry,

"Someone like Harry Kane, I can tell you that his mindset will be 'I'm staying at Tottenham, I'm going to break every single record, I'm going to captain this club into the new stadium' so when you've got a player like him with that mindset I don't think Tottenham have to worry."

Harry himself,

"Football for me isn't about money. I'm at Tottenham because I love this club and I see it going in the right direction"

“Everyone knows I'm a Spurs fan and that's where I want to be for the foreseeable future."

There is none of the "who knows in football" crap that as a Spurs fan means he's off. He will be here I'd say till he's 27-28 and if we haven't progressed by then, then who knows.

With all respect you should know that what players say (to media and supporters) and what they do (when money is involved) is two different things. Kane looks like a decent and honest young man but make no mistakes when it comes to economical decisions, money talks.

We're already at a better level than several higher-spending clubs. Besides, the large boost in income from our new stadium will allow us to significantly increase our wage payments, whilst still maintaining the same wages-to-income ratio.
