Harry Kane MBE | Performances

I dont know about that - he is now our top earner by a distance, his last contract was for £50k per week so he has over doubled his wage.

Just can't imagine he'd sign a new deal that wasn't on par with other players elsewhere.

This day and age anything less than 150 and you're a pauper. He's your top boy.

That's excellent news for Spurs. I was still harbouring hopes he'd move to United this Summer

He's a brilliant player to have. You can't imagine him ever causing any unrest. Just a top footballer who seems down to earth and very loyal

Well, the guy loves the club and is still only 23. Could he get more cash somewhere else? Yeah but he appears settled at the club and believes we are progressing so he appears in no rush to leave. I'm very pleased about that and I hope he could turn out to be a 'one club man'.

He's trolling.

Top news for us.

He's a good player and i'm pleased he's committing to Spurs. He'll remain first choice and keep developing. Probably go on to help England win the world cup like Jimmy Greaves or maybe not.

Great news, he was always unlikely to move from Spurs, now hopefully we can put our efforts into developing Rashford & Martial.

Nice one, good to see players not jumping at the first chance of moving away.

Good news for Spurs and Kane himself.

I think its best he stays there for another 2 years (at least) to further his development and they could get major money for him.

125k seems about right considering Spurs' financial model. I'd imagine he has image rights, and all of those sundries, which pay more on top. Good deal for all parties.

Thank god. Was worried we'd sign him for big money, what a flop he'd be. Bang average. All the doubters will soon see.

Spurs are a pretty solid club these days so I don't blame him. Fair play to them all the same.

3 season wonder right?

Playing upfront in a decent team. Lots of penalties + tap-ins (positioning is somewhat of a skill in it's own right in fairness). Limited passing range, average ball control, can't beat a man, not the quickest, not that clinical a finisher. He's got a decent shot outside the box, though.

Will never be world class and should never be starting for a club who wants to challenge at the top domestically and in Europe.

I loved your 'positioning is somewhat of a skill in it's own right in fairness' which downplays one of the absolutely vital skills a top striker needs to have - finishing and positioning (movement) are key attributes and I would argue Kane is very good at both. He is quite slow (or at least you couldnt say he is very quick) but he is extremely strong on the ball and is actually a very decent dribbler and more than capable of beating a player which he has proved on numerous occasions (though mostly through close ball control and strength rather than tricks).

He is well on his way to being world class, at least he will be if he continues to hit 20+ goals every season. For a 23 year old he is one of the best around imo.

Anyway, we all can have different opinions on players and that's grand. His goal scoring record is superb and it's hard to argue against that.

Sturridge is a better player imo.

They are welcome to keep the slacky jawed cnut. Would cost way to much compared to his actual quality.

He really isn't very good.

He really isn't very good.

Well that's just a dumb comment. He clearly is good it's just some folk (like me) think he is very very good and others dont think he is all that. I'm fairly sure most people would accept he is a good player. Obviously you are the exception. Fair play.

Anyone who doesn't think Kane is quality needs a slap.

An amazing player for one without electric pace. The next closest thing to Lewandowski.

If United can't sign him, I hope he stays at Spurs for the rest of his career.

Kane and Lukaku are the only two players with a realistic chance at joining Shearer in the 200 goals club. Well, there's Rooney too.

As a genuine question, I wonder how many Hernandez would score if played as CF all season for this Spuds team and also given penalties?

I think Kane's a better CF than Hernandez, but I don't think he's that much better. Maybe if Hernandez had never been at Utd and was signed by Spuds a few years ago and that's all we knew of him, we'd be talking about him in the exact same way as Kane.

What if Hernandez was English as well...?

Still, you can't score that many goals and not be talented. It'll be interesting to see how his career pans out over the next few years.

Didn't stop you with Pogba.

Yeah, their potential is totally identical.

lel.

1: talent
2: marketing
3: actual need in the respective position

all reasons for why we went all in for Pogba. Kane would cost the same but wouldn't be worth it. Pogba will become worth it.

I know haha I definitely think he's a good player, but I don't see him every being held in the regard of world class strikers. I like that he is not a limited striker and has many attributes to his game, and he is a good player for a team like Spurs, but I can't see him reaching the levels of top strikers at top clubs. For example if he were to go to Manchester City or Chelsea, I personally don't think he'd flourish like he does at Tottenham as he doesn't quite have the quality IMO.

All just opinions, of course.

Apart from the bolded part, which I think is nonsense anyway, you've just perfectly described Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

I don't really fancy him at United for the same reasons we weren't all that successful with Ruud up front - he doesn't suit the way we want to play football.

But suggesting that he is anything but a top class forward is silly.

A poor Euros aside, he's one of the top ten strikers in the world at the moment and there aren't many positions England can boast that in.

Relax, I'm messing with you. Found your comment amusing given the justifications United fans have listed on this forum as to why Pogba is worth the money.

Kane has a lot of talent and, assuming he continues his current trajectory, will probably replace Rooney in the future as the face of English football. It tends to be the goalscorers that are front and centre of all marketing.

But yeah, your need up top isn't desperate at present.

Aguero
Costa
Suarez
Ronaldo
Benzema
Neymar
Lewandowski
Sanchez
Messi
Zlatan

Is Kane definitely better than any of those...?

I'm not the biggest fan of Zlatan, but when he's on form he's a better striker than Kane.

He's as good as Costa, Benzema and Sanchez. I probably should have said centre forward as opposed to striker but Messi and Neymar are totally different types of players.

The only out and out, lead the line centre forwards or strikers who are obviously better than him are Suarez, Aguero and Lewandowski.
