i think hes the perfect striker for man city
someone with his link up play is much more suited for the way city play than say a striker like a haaland

Is aguero leaving ? If so that's a huge wage off the bill and I can see them splurging on a cf. Haaland will be 100 mil plus too. I just think kane suits the manager and the club better than a haaland would.
 
Kane at City would be a different level. He would absolutely tear up the league. If city pull that off I’m struggling to see how anyone get near them without adding some ridiculous quality to their squads.

He’d be the perfect striker for any of the english top sides to be fair. There’s no derth in talented wide-attackers but Martial, Giroud, Lacazette and Firmino is a sorry collection of CFs.. He’d be an absolute game-changer for whoever’s able to afford him.

Of course. He's a top player. I just meant more of the fact that watching this city side standard 9s in it this year jesus and aguero (I know he aint the same as he used to be) struggle and don't really fit so they played a false 9.
Kane the way he's played as a playmaker with the goals top this year would fit brilliantly there.

Without a doubt.
I could imagine Pep being weary of repeating the mistakes he made at Barcelona bringing in Ibrahimovic with Haaland.

I actually think I'd prefer Kane to Haaland if given the choice of the two, I know Haaland has the longevity/generational talent blah blah blah but Kane's so complete right now

I think kane will have to run down his contract to get a move. Get to the last 18mths or so. Problem for spurs is that if you lose him you cant replace him. Where are you going to get the amount of goals he scores? So basically for spurs he's priceless. Cannot be sold.

He's reaching the batistuta stage of his career where he needs to make a decision soon. The club he loves or the trophies he craves.

Me too. I also prefer Kane as an influence on the team and like the security that neither he nor his agent will have a strop shortly into a career with his new club.

That's surely because of his age, though. In two years time he'll be 30, by which point he won't carry the same power and the top teams will be looking elsewhere. It's stick or twist for Kane, although like others have said that 6 year contract was an insane decision.
 
There is no way on earth Tottenham would sell for 100 million. The price is likely to start at closer to 150.

Unless Kane kicks up a serious fuss, which he has shown absolutely no indication he will, the price is whatever Tottenham decide even if they feel inclined to sell. There is no pressure on them at all until Kane changes his approach.

To sell for 100 million would be completely illogical as they'd have to spend half of that to even approximate a replacement, and it's simply not all that much for a player of Kane's quality, one of the best strikers in the world in a market where everybody is scrambling over the same couple of names because there are very few options.

Kane really reminds me of lewandowski, I really think he will continue to a top standard beyond 30 quite easily

I agree. He's always missing part of a season through injury. Most big clubs play in all comps until the latter stages. Kane you can't really rely on in that regard which for that kind of money would be a concern.

How bad has it been really?
His worst injury season still yielded 28 premier league apps. Its really not that bad as made out. He's stayed quite fit this season in a congested campaign too, all things considered.

He could, but I do feel people underestimate his injuries. His ankle has taken a battering over the last few years and he’s regularly had injuries. Playing top class intense football at a world class level is going to be a big ask for him I feel.

If Kane was at a top team they’d be able to manage his minutes much more effectively than Spurs can though. They’re so poor without him that he’s forced to play pretty much every game, even in weaker Europa League matches.

If he played for Man City Pep would be able to use Jesus to give Kane consistent rests and manage his minutes which would help ease the injury concerns.

I honestly think Kane could win the Balon D’Or playing in this City team atm. I don’t think there’s another CF in Europe who would fit that system as well as he would.

Still, he’d cost far too much for City or anyone to make the move this summer I feel. If Kane wants to leave he’ll have to let his contract run down a bit more and push for a move when he’s got a year or two left on it. Next summer could be a possibility.

And that's a huge deal? He hit 28 and 29 apps out of 38. I wouldn't mark that as "injury prone" - that's certainly overcooked for a player marking what 40, then 34, then 40 appearances in all competitions in the past 3 seasons. How much has the physical specimen Haaland completed? Similar amounts in the past couple of seasons.

I'm not saying Kane is fitter than Haaland btw, but I don't get the throwaway comments that the former is still injury prone.

There's certainly a case that he'd need to do less carrying at a top club, and can slot in as a final piece of an attacking puzzle rather than try and do everything on his own. I think that's why he'd suit City or us to be fair - heck he'd be superb at City, it's quite worrying really. Especially considering how Pep really admires him.

Dont think Kane works hard enough for how this City side plays. Hes has been strolling about up front for a while now. Plus he isnt a defensive 9 like a Jesus or Firminho. He will drop and take up the space that sees English midfielders struggle offensively and how Dele and Eriksen lost their focal point to play off of and both went downhill simultaneously. Hard for Dele to go beyond Kane anymore if hes permanently taking the ball off the CB. The last WC was a joke, the best striker in Europe was taking the ball off Maguire which left Sterling as the only outball for no reason at all.

That’s exactly what he is saying. Kane runs a lot and is only looking more leggy now because he has to play almost every game.

Also, he has to drop deep for Spurs and had to for England in the 2018 World Cup because for those teams, he’s the most technically gifted player by about two countrymiles. I doubt he’ll do it as much for England at the Euros and in the World Cup qualifiers due to the plethora of creative talent playing behind him, including Grealish, Foden, Mount etc.

As for Alli and Eriksen, pair them with Lewandowski or Haaland and their career trajectories would not have altered one bit. They have declined massively, simple as that. Lukaku is the definition of a focal point and Eriksen still isn’t anywhere near his level from 2015-18.

Kane has the most goals in the league this season. He also has the most assists in the league. And all that while playing for one of the most negative teams in the league.

Not bad for a player strolling around.

He didnt have to drop so deep for Spurs though, they had 2 of the best attackers in the league in that position at the time and their attacking output plunged when Kane started doing his Rooney impression. Hell he hasnt scored for England for 2 years now as he plays the same way.
Its great as player development but it hurts the team imo.

Without the ball, he does stroll around. Dont know what goals prove, nobody strolls more than Messi and hes ungodly in front of goal.

We are talking about CFs here? And it’s not just goals, it’s assists as well.

So by your logic Pep would choose Jesus over Messi as well?

What makes City special right now will disappear if Jesus is replaced by a player who doesn't work as hard as he does. Cant see why Pep would buy someone who tries to excel as a 10 hybrid when he has Foden and KDB in the side.
Great player but doesn't make sense for City. Neither does Haaland imo. Theres a reason he has never touched the Aguero / Jesus combination and theres a reason why they never signed a 9 last summer when they knew Aguero was done.

Paul Hirst (The Times) - ‘City have made a list of strikers who can replace Aguero as their spearhead. Haaland tops that list.’

If Haaland makes sense for City Kane obviously would as well. Probably more so given his superior link-up play but his age and Levy make it an unlikely idea. Haaland is the perfect age and plays for a selling club.

Just shows how silly the reports are. Pep is very specific in who he signs yet have been strongly linked to Ings, Lukaku, Haaland, Messi and Kane. All completely different from each other.
They are more likely to sign a lower name as competition to Jesus than a superstar who will start every game.

Mate they are trying to replace a superstar in aguero and need the best they can possibly get (hence the link to all the various strikers). Jesus is a squad player who will never be the starting no9.

I personally think City would be better with Kane up top than Jesus. I think that’s probably a pretty widely shared viewpoint.
