Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

He’s city bound guys, I wouldn’t get my hopes up on this one. Hopefully we get Sancho over the line finally.
Not the worst thing in the world then. Mbappe, Haaland, Lewondowski are three options who might move within the next year or two. Lewondowski is clearly a stop gap when he’s finally moved on but even if he plays the Cavani role here, well worth it for us. The other two, Haaland was expected to go to city but would they buy both Kane and Haaland?? I don’t think so. Mbappe seems Madrid bound, but if we somehow pull him off, forget about it. Serious contenders. He would make our attack that much more dynamic with his ability to beat players, so different than Kane and Haaland.
So yeah, I actually think it doesn’t mean we are through since Kane’s age and his injury record.

Genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Real or Barca managed to pluck cash out of the air for a big signing this summer.

I know they're both fecked financially, but it would be in keeping with their transfers over the last few years.

Pens would be a hard one. Hard to say for Portugal too. Is there anyone with a better penalty record in the world than Bruno? 21/22 for United I think. Not even Ronaldo can reasonably demand to be ahead of that. But yeah they are both goal obsessed so who knows.

I'm not sure on that, Lewondowski had 51/57 before this season, Hazard 50/57. Bruno has scored 41 and missed 3.

Possible moves in order...

1, Man City.
2, Man United.

That's it.

Hes not going to move abroad and Spurs & Chelsea won't do business until Roman or Levy leaves.

aside from the local rivalry between Chelsea & Spurs, is there some sort of beef or bad blood between Abramovich & Levy?

So City it is,

No way we splurge 100m+ on him when our squad needs so much improvement in other areas,

The stars are aligned for him to go to City

I think Kane would thrive wherever he went but even more so at City or Chelsea. City for obvious reasons, Chelsea because we create so many clear cut chances that nobody is currently scoring. He'd lead the line at Utd just as well but i get the feeling that whilst he'd add more goals to your attack, he'd be taking a fair few goals from Bruno. It wouldn't be as simple as both scoring 20-30 each... Who'd take the penalties?

Do you really think if United signed Kane we'd be panicking about who was taking pens? FFS

Interesting that he say he has a gentleman's agreement to leave. Still not sure why he didn't get that clause in his contract.

Who said panicking? The point of the post was to suggest Kane joining could impact Bruno's numbers or vice versa. I think Kane would demand them anyway as part of his deal

Doing a gentleman's agreement with Levy of all people is quite hilarious but, saying that, top players have eventually left Spurs.

Kane is probably pushing for a better deal with Spurs. Especially at 28 years of age.

Without wanting to sound like a pessimist...If City get Kane this summer I think we'll be playing for 2nd at best yet again. Only an injury nightmare could stop them in my opinion.

Wasn't part of the reason Shearer picked Newcastle over us that SAF told him he wouldn't be getting penalties ahead of Cantona?

I think, to those asking why Kane would chose United over City, I have the following thoughts (rose-tinted glasses well and truly on).

It is one thing to be the next in the relatively long line of City players who have won titles, being part of a continued 'conveyor-belt of success' but the notoriety / legacy you could leave with United, if you were the spearhead for the return to the top table, would be something else entirely. RvP is held in very high regard by united fans despite (IMO) only one good season (which was a great season, I'm not trying to diminish it) partly because it returned United to winning ways.

If Kane was to come to United, combined with others (as unlikely as it would be for United to sign anyone else if we made that outlay for him this summer) and bring the PL back to United as well as (hopefully) returning to challenging for the CL, he would go down in folk-lore and have much greater, longer-lasting legacy within the club.

That, for me, would be a rather strong pull - much more risky, but also far more rewarding.
This was the Arsenal fan argument for why RVP should stay. Having said that I'd like to think Kane would back himself to be able to bridge the gap between Utd and City but I doubt it.

Why should Kane join utd?
city have a better structure
city are winning trophies
city have a better team
pep v ole....
and with him joining the best team in the epl they will be untouchable..

No brainer for Kane..
Totally appreciate what you’re saying but we are still Manchester United, not some tin pot club. We are a big draw for any player.

Would make it even more of a legacy, the time since our last league win; and how far we've been away from challenging/points difference. With RvP, we'd only gone one season since the last title, not Eight. Still had the pull of Sir Alex too.

Can't see it happening though, other areas of the team are more essential to strengthen, Cavani re-signing and we just wouldn't have the funds. To bring in other players, no doubt we'd be looking at bringing down the net spend from sales/players off contract (Jones, Mata, Lingard, Dalot, Matic, one of De Gea/Henderson, possibly Martial) and then you're talking, let's say £100m for Kane on top of that.

If the options are;

1. RW (Sancho), CDM (Rice) & CB (Varane)
2. Kane

I don't think Kane alone bridges the gap. So for me, it has to be number 1.

Kane is a very good player, but he has a really annoying voice. So on balance, hope he goes somewhere else so I can continue to despise him irrationally, the blockednosetwat.

He is quoted as saying he wants to score 50, 60, 70 goals per season.

So maybe China?

It's gonna be City for sure. I would love him here but to be honest, RW should be a much higher priority signing as surely we are not going into yet another season with our right side of the pitch being completely dead, it's absolutely ridiculous at this point. Kane will make City a 100 point team yet again but what can we do...

im amazed anyone other than City can buy anyone.

Imagine if Chelsea get Haaland, City get Kane and we end up with Ings.

Historically, both Barcelona and Real Madrid enjoy credit bail outs from their respective councils as well as their bargaining power with TV rights. The latter (during the late 90's), the Madrid council sold a training stadium to bail out Madrid when they found themselves in finacial difficulty.

I would never rule out a huge transfer from either those clubs which is why Haaland will be a possibility next summer.

I do however think their a thrust for him to join Manchester City, there just seems to be a momentum going that way.

its really not the same. Were Liverpool one of the biggest spending clubs in the world?

Somehow clubs like Chelsea , Man city were able to become big attractions when they come into some money but Manchester United one of the biggest Clubs in terms stature and financial might is doomed to eternal irrelevance because we had some lean years why would anybody move here it beggars belief.

You would think City are the clear favourites but there is just that nagging feeling, even Keane a while ago was talking up Kane to United for no apparent reason.

That interview though, that's basically a come and get me plea.

Imagine if Chelsea get Haaland, City get Kane and we end up with Ings.

And we end up with Sancho rather.

I wouldn't really mind, Chelsea might win one title before they implode, they've done this several times before. People were also shitting their pants when they signed Werner, Havertz, Pulisic etc.

They aren’t within shouting distance of Manchester city. They aren’t competing with them. They’re competing with the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place teams.

That's the point I was trying to make. They have so little ambition that they'd be prepared to sell their club captain and talisman to the current league champions. You wouldn't see other top four clubs like United, Liverpool, Chelsea doing similar.
