Absolute nonsense of a post. There's absolutely no evidence that he didn't want him.
The reasons for not going for him is a combination of a) the financial package required to get him combined with his age and United's finances, and b) it being very clear early on that Spurs wouldn't sell him to a PL rival.
The de Jong analogy makes no sense because we were actually encouraged by de Jong's club to come and get him due to their financial situation but it was the player who didn't want it.
Barca wanted to sell De Jong, but De Jong was clear from the start that he did not want to leave. Spurs did not want to sell Kane, but everyone knew that Kane is leaving. So, it was actually more certain that Kane will be sold than De Jong will be sold, which is contrary to what you are implying.
And yet, we made a lot of fuss about De Jong, and we did not buy any other midfield players because we waited for De Jong for 2+ months. On the contrary, for Kane we were very quiet and we quickly bought Mount, spending a big chunk of our budget. It was clear we are not interested. Or better, ETH wasn't interested. Perhaps his problems with Ronaldo made him believe that superstars bring too many problems.
