Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

If Bayern really offered 70 million, I struggle to understand Levy's thinking. Kane is 30.

Leaving aside the fact that he has only a year left on his contract (which is also huge), surely getting that sort of money for a player entering the twilight of his career is a coup.
I said on here previously that when Kane would have 1 year on his contract, Levy would use the 100m that Real paid for Hazard in a similar scenario as a benchmark - I think that's his thinking.

I'd imagine £70m but Levy will benchmark Kane against Hazard when he moved to Real (similar situation: top class player with one year left on contract) so he'll look for over £100m.

The thing is that Levy hates us with a passion ever since the Berbatov/Carrick deals. Were it not for the fan backlash he'd probably prefer to sell Kane to Arse/Chelsea than us.

No. Look where Arsenal came from the year before to end up only 6 points off the title despite collapsing in the last few weeks. It merely shows what is possible.

If Kane does go to Arsenal that would certainly take them up a notch but given the other signings we’re making in this window, there’s no reason to doubt that, with Kane, we can do better than Arsenal did last year.

If he wants the best chance of winning the Prem he should go to City but that’s probably not an option for him.
But there is always going to be a team that has a good season, mathematically that's going to happen. With so many teams doing poorly, someone has to do well.

I don't understand how the one thing has anything to do with the other. There's also a bunch of players moving between top-clubs after the contract runs out. We lost Alaba to Real for free for instance.

If a player and a club agree on a 5 year contract - what right does the club have to get mad when the contract runs out? That is literally the whole point of the agreement.if United would now negotiate with Kane and agree on signing him next year - what is unethical about it? Both Kane and Tottenham fulfilled their obligation.

No club has an inherent right to sell a player. A transfer fee is just a compensation for the club to let a player go before the end of the contract length.

So no, I don't think it should be illegal for a club to contact and negotiate with players from other clubs in the final contract year. I don't consider it as unethical or unfair to anyone involved.

The Super League is an entirely different thing. My feeling is it won't happen but the Champions League will be reformed to essnetially replace the Super League, but we definitely need a longer international league or else it will be tough for other international clubs outside of the Premier League to remain relevant
Sorry I thought you meant in general (during their contract) and not in the final year, that’s why I asked if it was illegal. If it’s within the rules then fine. Is it 1 year for non epl clubs, and 6 month for epl clubs?

Fair enough, these wages just never got to me.

Think the myth stems from the time we refused to bump Kroos after the world cup to Ribery/Robbens wages and he ended up leaving for Real.

It’s 6 months for non epl clubs and 1 month for epl clubs. Bayern shouldn’t be speaking to Kane (or his agent/family) currently without Spurs’ permission.

No it currently is illegal regardless, but I personally think it shouldn't be.

Why would Kane want to sit on City bench? He would be a starter in nearly any other club in the world

They will settle at 70 and then we hijack with 75?
You’ve never seen Levy negotiate with a player he doesn’t want to leave have you?

Try Bayern won’t offer the £120m Tottenham are demanding, and we definitely won’t offer the £150m they want to even speak to us. There will be no hijacking.

Levy would rather sell him abroad for £50m than us get him for £100m.

But can he do it on a rainy night in Heidenheim in front of 15k spectators? And what about the language barrier? He'll have to learn how to speak English.

Yeah, of Levy rejected the other himself, anything lower goes to his PA. I don't think Kane moves for less than £120m, I can see him signing a new deal too.
Wait till the last week of Aug. We'll see.

Surely win a walkover title or 2 for Bayern isn't more important to him than being the all time premier league goalscorer?
It'd be a real risk to think he can take a 2 or more year break and still do it.

Disagree. What if all those things happened next season anyway and the only benefit is collecting a pay cheque each week in Bayern’s medical room? Wouldn’t let the small likelihood of a career ending injury guide this decision compared to all the more probably outcomes.

On a serious note I think I’d also rather be the PL all time top scorer than win the Ballon d’Or (e.g. Shearer vs Owen). And he has a much much better chance of the former anyway.
Collecting a check on the beginning of a long term contract, not the last year of his deal. Kane dropping off due to injury or some other factor is not some improbable scenario. It happens more than you think

PL all-time scorer is a record that can be broken, trophies and honors like the Ballon d’Or are permanent.

Have serious doubts they will sell anymore, also IF it did actually happen then don't see an impact on transfers until January

I don't have any doubts and we have a credit facility so liquidity is basically a non-issue
