Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

What is with all the public reports of clubs essentially tapping up players? Have the rules changed? Otherwise, how is Tuchel permitted to apparently have a chat with Kane about joining Bayern? Alternatively, does that mean Spurs have given him permission to have that discussion (indicating that they will sell)?
We always tap up players before negotiating with the club. It‘s a rule that can easily be broken by not talking to the player directly, but with his representatives. Which is apparently what we did here.

IMO being the highest goal scoring in PL history, which will stand for decades, holds much more weight than a league title. Especially a non English one.
Haaland could beat it within a decade

I'd think winning the league would be a more satisfying achievement

A German league title with Bayern is a waste of time, PL top scorer is a miles better achievement.

Fair play, you aren't like selling to a sworn league enemy like Levy sees us as

Maybe he doesn’t care that much about individual records? I know quite a few players feel these things are important. But that doesn’t mean everybody thinks like this. Kane doesn’t strike me like a typical modern player anyway. If he was, he wouldn’t play for Tottenham at this age. So I don’t think something like this is out of the ordinary for him.

So frustrating we haven't got a City like squad because then splashing £100m plus on him just wouldn't matter so much
That's the point, Kane would be the perfect cherry on top to our already stacked squad who only needs a proven goal scorer. But we relied on Weghorst and an 18 year old Garnacho to rescue us in the FA Cup Final, that should tell you all you need to know about our squad. We need quality in multiple positions and squad depth, relying purely on Kane with our current squad doesn't get us as far as people think it will, in my opinion.

Better start looking for pitchforks. Because you’re the new farmers.

In all seriousness. Didn’t expect this. While I did believe that Kane would consider us, I didn’t think we’d be willing to pay what’s necessary. And I thought others might offer significantly more.
Would be a gigantic transfer if it happens. For a player I really like a lot. Hope it happens. Even though there is quite a bit risk involved.

Very intrigued to see how it all pans out, I still have a hunch they'll make him stay a year, but you're probably next best bet.

He is clearly a little soft, I have no problem with him going to anyone to be honest just question what he’s thinking.

Really guts me that takeover wasn't done in time to put in a serious bid for him. Ah well maybe things will be better in January

I meant to say he holds the cards if he is proactive about his career. That bald cnut would be an idiot to block his move now leaving to negotiate with who's interested in 6 months.
The problem here is there's basically two months left till the end of window. That fecker knows very well he needs to sell this summer. But he also knows very well how good Kane is and how dire the striker market is. So he must sell but he's not in a real hurry.

Even if by 30th Aug that cnut says 60m now at least 5 top clubs would bite his hands off I reckon. Thing is imo that bold mf wants at least 80m if Kane goes abroad. And 100m if Kane stays in England.

Yeah, Levy‘s stubbornness could be our blessing in this case. I think this could be a lucky moment in time for us. Real want Mbappe, Levy doesn’t want to sell domestically, the Italian clubs aren’t that attractive anymore and PSG doesn’t feel like a club Kane would be comfortable at. So if he wants to challenge, especially in the champions league, there aren’t any alternatives really.
Shows that sometimes it’s all about timing and a little luck. If this should indeed work out (big if).

Talk to Kane and tell him to hold off until 10 August at least.

Levy would cave, he loves money.

Bayern more efficient than us once again. How unefficient we are in transfer windows is mindblowing

Yeah I hate how much we have had to sacrifice key positions season after season due to combo of different managers and those leeching owners

When will we ever get that bit of luck again for a top striker, last time was RVP in 2012

According to reports for a good few years he does. Bayern are one of the worlds biggest clubs but winning a 12th title in a row is a bit facile.

Honestly, if we fecking lose out on this one….

I’m convinced we’re purposely bad at transfers, there’s just too much consistency for it to be incompetence, broken clocks and all that

I hope we back out of this one - yes I would love to have Harry Kane - but not for close to £100 million + £20 million in wages a season for (probably) 4 years. No player in todays market is worth £180 million when his value most likely is next to nothing in 4 years. Sure if we could get him for £50-60 million I am all for it, but not for the price Spurs want. For that cost, we can sign both Højlund and Ferguson and cover both their wages for the same cost as Kane, and not sit here in 2 years pondering what striker we are going to sign because Kane is showing signs of becoming too slow.

Well, he can feck off then. Not our problem he's Levy's bitch.
So he is Levy's bitch for not moving but when he might actually move to one of the biggest clubs in the world he is still Levy's bitch? Guy can't catch a break with you lot.

You would say that, you have no idea what winning a title is like

To be fair reading some of the comments here makes it worth it that we put in a bid even if we don't get him.

I don't think any of the media actually knows what Kane wants. He had one chance to join City which didn't happen, other than that he hasn't really had many choices to make so far in his career.

So the narrative we are feed is Kane is all about being the Top scorer in the Prem. But that is just a side affect of being a good consistent goal scorer, if he had the chance to join Bayern or Real he might not even give it a second thought and be on the first plane out of London.

Would have loved to see him at United but he's chosen to win a league title that doesn't carry much weight, shame.
German league doesn't carry much weight? Underestimation of other leagues by some fans is astonishing sometimes.

Going to Bayern is a half way house of not winning a proper league and losing out on the scoring record.
Nobody bar Bayern fans will watch his spell in Germany

Totally agree, my point is plenty of players win titles or even trebles or WCs, few are called a top league goal scorer.

David May is clearly a better player than Kane because he won a league title or something.

This comment alone should tell you how tragic of a career he has had for a player of his abilities.

Alan shearer 2.0. Least shearer actually won a title before he decided to finish his career at the age of 26.
