Hansi Flick (sack) watch

Flick's impact on the Bayern team is the most impressive I have ever seen.

From that to this is unbelievable

He is done. Japan has been great though, exciting players galore

The best attacking team I have seen in this modern era of football including overtaking the Tiki-Taka Barcelona side.

The level that Bayern team amassed when playing was spectacular. I think Flick's next domestic move will ultimately lead the trajectory of his managerial career. I wouldn't be surprised if City take a punt on him 25 season if Pep leaves.

These German players look absolutely clueless. This one of the characterless bunch of idiots I have ever seen.

Wasn't it just that one season at Bayern? Maybe that was the fluke?

It was 1.75 seasons, the second season they were knocked out of the UCL by PSG by away goals but were without Lewandowski, who was really missed because Bayern scuffed a lot of chances. Certainly wasn't a fluke.

For Germany, it's a case of him finding out the difficulty of having a fixed pool of players to work with and not having quality played in certain positions. He's trying to plug holes in the squad with makeshift solutions (Kimmich at RB, Havertz at ST), along with changing formation every other game, so there's no continuity.

He doesn't know what to do with the currently available German players. I'm pretty sure nobody could lead us to a world cup right now, but there has to be something better to be done than this.

How could he have such a big impact on Bayern Munich yet look completely clueless managing Germany?

At club level you develop a squad of players from all nations that are variously interchangeable to play as a team which performs using the tactics necessary within your footballing philosophy.
You cultivate this team dynamic by way of endlessly repeated training sessions until it’s so polished that the players just do rather than think about it then do (if they have to think about it it’s too slow).

Being an international manager requires a pragmatic approach to get the best out of what’s on the shelf and readily available to you as it comes. It results in a blunt style of football much reliant on basic systems of play and individual brilliance.
At international level you have a squad of players that are trained under many and various systems and philosophies, and you get to work with them for a week or ten days at a time, and only now & then, so that the team dynamic is never as polished as at club level.
Most top level league sides would blow most top level international sides out of the water if you matched them up.

I think Flick’s issue is that he won’t lower himself to depart from his philosophy.

Klopp probably could to be fair.

National team vs domestic is very different to be fair. I do think there’s a bit of disrespect to Japan creeping in here, Germany haven’t been very good for a long time now (even when England beat them in knock outs they were a real shell of the WC winning team that had knocked us out before) and Japan actually look legitimately good.

It kind of makes sense some of the Asian clubs who have poured money into the sport could start pushing to be elite now, J league was founded about 30 years ago, co hosted the WC about 20 years ago and now are R16 regulars and a great example of how to domestically grow the sport quickly. Couple that with having a large relatively rich society that values discipline and hard work and there’s a good base there for a footballing nation. I think they’ll cause all teams problems at the next WC.

At the exception of Deschamps.

Watched the highlights and it looked like it only being 4-1 flattered Germany.

Rudi Völler , wasn't he the coach when England beat them 5-1? Even Heskey managed to score
Yes. Germany than went on to reach the final of the World Cup that match was a qualifier for while England embarassed itself as usually in the actual tournament. But it's good memory, the current crisis can be compared to that 20 years ago that also saw Völler trying to right the course.

They should get Conte.
It is extremely unlikely that the DFB would consider a non-German coach. They might make an exception for one who has worked long-term successfully in Germany, but not for someone like Conte who has no relativ to German football at all.

Would be great if they could go for Klopp.

Speaking entirely from the perspective of someone who wants to see Germany do well and not someone who wants to see Liverpool decline.
