Guardian- 2 Deals Provisionally Agreed for Summer

How exactly would it work? Do we do all the contacting players and agreeing deals then when it's in place do we tell them to hold on while we conduct a poll of our fans? When the fans are against it just say sorry about that and move on to the next one? It's a bonkers idea.
Agreed. That'd put United halfway towards Perez demagoguery at Madrid. It gets nasty when trying to appease the masses so quickly.

I think the NFL's Green Bay Packers have an annual forum with ST holders. It's a quaint thing really; it's all nonbinding.

No, that'd be of course stupid and disrespectful but of course you knew that which is why you suggested it.

We've become more open with official bids being made for players in recent times. Why can't we just get ST holder views then? If the deal doesn't happen, then fair enough, the deal broke down but at least you know where the supporters lie on that particular player. You're making it sound much more difficult than it has to be. It doesn't even have to be final, just so the fans are heard. It's not a ridiculous idea, by any stretch of the imagination, but I can understand why some supporters would be against it.

This Cavani signing for example makes no sense. Even if one of our strikers was off, I still wouldn't want Cavani here especially with the prices being mentioned. If fans were given the option to veto it, it'd save a lot of time and money and we'd actually be listened to. If the club still wants to go through with it then fair enough, but at least the fans have been heard. I don't think I've seen one person on here that actually wants Cavani here.

Which is exactly what I'm suggesting. Not the former.

It is a ridiculous idea and why no club in the world will ever do it. Break it down for us exactly how it would work if you think the example I gave is so out of sync with what you're suggesting.

I just have. You haven't read a word of what I've written, have you?

Anyway, my suggestion was more of a starter idea. It's not the finished product and I'm not paid nor qualified to break it down and organise these sort of things but I don't see how it's ridiculous to at least hear out fans' views. I wouldn't care too much if it isn't incorporated but to hear it's ridiculous or stupid is what grates me.

The Cavani stuff reeks of penis measuring silliness, to buy him and get rid of two better strikers would be crazy.

Shame about Mangala, I like what I've seen and his name is awesome. Much rather we focus on Kroos than Fannygas.

Would love it tbh. No chance of two players on a combined salary of £540,000 a week leaving though.
I dunno, it's not difficult to confuse and anger Rooney, getting shot of a manager he had under his thumb is a good start, tell rvp he is 3rd choice and I bet he finds a new club pretty sharpish

You agreed with the idea of a forum. How would it work?

It's a stupid idea so if you intend to float it often then you would be best advised getting used to seeing it derided.

I wasn't agreeing with the idea of the forum, I was agreeing with the idea that it'd be a quaint thing and that it'd be nonbinding.

Float it often? It's the first time I've mentioned it. I've explained why I think it'd be useful yet all you've said is it's stupid. No explanation as to why it couldn't or wouldn't work, just that it's stupid. We've seen it happen before in the NFL yet you think no other club in the world does it. Barca have also done it before iirc.

Then when did you put your idea forward? I said IF you intend to float it often. I've given a reason why it wouldn't work and you seem to think it was an outlandish example without explaining why. How would it work?

When did Barcelona do it?

Then when did you put your idea forward?

Wait, you're not allowed to put ideas forward anymore in case of offending precious posters like you? Oh sorry, next time I'll draw out a full business plan so you can be happy.

What was your reason? I've read through your posts and you've seemed to made up a situation where we agree everything with the player and the club and then ask the ST holders. That isn't a reason why it won't work. Hell, that isn't even a reason. You've just made that situation up and that's not at all what I've said. I said it could be done at the initial stage when a bid has been made or being "prepared" as we see the papers describe all so often. But you of course missed that.

So tell me, why couldn't it work? Why is it so stupid?
When did Barcelona do it?
Having looked at it now, it might've been Marca or Sport actually.

I didn't say you weren't allowed to put an idea forward but you should be prepared to have it dismissed as nonsense if that's what it is.

I put forward a hypothetical scenario because you hadn't once told us how it would work.

It wouldn't work because fans often don't have a clue what is required. Have a look at some of the ridiculous player threads in the transfer forums over the years to see how many non entity's our fans wanted at times. Tell us how it could work and if it was such a great idea why other clubs don't do it. I had a look to see if google held an answer for your mythical thoughts on Barcelona doing it and found a fan poll that was won by Giorgios Samaras.

i think you got that figure wrong. Rooney is on around 240k and rvp 200-220k.

I appreciate it might not be the best idea but you were giving no reason prior to now and were giving an example you made up, not me, but now you have explained it, I understand you better now so apologies.

Yes, I agree fans don't have the best perception on what is needed. But just say hypothetically a poll was made tomorrow asking United ST holders if we wanted Cavani here, would you be totally averse to that? Most fans don't want him here and either don't rate him much or they think he's a waste of money and time. Something like that could work, don't you think? A simple poll asking whether he's right for us. They don't even have to necessarily agree and could still sign him, all they'd have to do is just listen. Say 90% don't want him here, then there'd be no doubt second thoughts amongst the board. 60% and the board could do what they feel is right.

Not really because we haven't a clue what plans are in place for the squad. If we knew that our four strikers were all on the way out then the result of the poll would be vastly different to it would if we knew they were all staying. As it stands I don't think there's much point in going for him but if I and the majority voted no and the club didn't go for it because of that and then Van Persie, Hernandez and Welbeck left then I'd probably be a little pissed off.

The Mirror have us buying Reus, Strootman, Kroos and Hummels, while the Mail reckon it'll be Sniejder and Vlar....ahhhh transfer season is getting near!

That is quite literally the difference between life and death for muppets.

We so need midfielders, it's just not funny anymore.

It's not like we only need two either, we need at least 3 for rotation to maintain some form of quality in centre.

That's before we even start looking at centre halves, a left back and refreshing the wide players.
