Thanks to J-Stander for the catch.

In this article by Daniel Taylor, he mentions that we've two provisionally agreed deals for the summer. Any guesses?

United are at least addressing the issue. This newspaper's information is that deals have already been provisionally agreed for two players in what promises to be an extensive recruitment programme over the summer. The club have deliberately tried to set up transfers six months in advance. Joel Glazer has been more hands-on than many people might realise, speaking to the executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, three times a day on average from Florida and the club have been encouraged by the feedback from agents. Not once has there has been an indication that a player might be put off because of the prospect of playing in the Europa League next season.

Going to assume one is Carvalho. One journalist tweeted that his agent had been shown round the training complex the other day and was not concerned about the prospect of Europa League football.

As for the other, it's anyone's guess. We've been linked with everyone under the sun.

And don't forget, Moyes has watched 39,432 players over 5,000,000 times.

I'm getting a mixed emotions

On the normal day, I'd love this news since it stroke the muppet in me, but on the other hands, it'll means that Moyes is probably set to stay, and backed to hills.

Glad to see we are becoming much more proactive in our dealing. I would guess one of the players is Carvalho, while the other is either Gündogan or Kroos. In previous administration, I would go into this summer anticipating that City, Monaco or Madrid will try to steal Carvalho under our nose. However, I am feeling confident about our interest and aquisition of this target. It will amazing, if it is none of the players once rumored. Instead, it is Osman and Coleman.

Oh those Osman jokes again

I dunno... the more he spends, there is a double-edged sword. We will change from a manager-led team to a players-led team. Ala City, Chelski etc. Cheaper to get rid of a manager than changing the squad of players.

So by December, if we are still in the relative crappers, then its even more likely that Moyes will be out.

There was a report in a couple of rags a few weeks back that we'd agreed a deal for Gundogan, but due to the quality of the papers giving the news it was mostly ignored. I'd be surprised if we'd done such a deal already given his injury concerns, but the link was there anyway.

I read this and I found this strange, should it be Moyes / Ed doing all the business? Or could it be that Glazer's bypassing both of them and Moyes is set to get the sacked ? :D
Doubt it, the Glazer's wouldn't know their arse from their elbow concerning potential player signings.

If deals are done, they should be done. This is just a nice rumour, nothing more. Anything not confirmed has the chance to fall apart.

If Moyes is backed heavily in the market, it would mean he would be removed early next season if the results are not as expected. Glazers won't risk another season out of CL after spending money

If I were to make a wild guess, I would say carvalho and coentrao. Carvalho is quite obvious due to recent speculation, and coentrao because we seem to have pursued him in our last 2 windows.

I've been as anti Moyes as you can get but you can certainly see that he wants to put the cat amongst the pigeons when it comes to transfers.

Carvalho and... Wouldn't it be nice if it was either Kroos or Gundognan.

OTT, but ... that's abit confusing for me (not English)

Who are the cats? is it us and the pigeons is the players? Cats among pigeons simply means the pigeons will all fly away right? or did I miss something?

EDIT: Cat amongst Pigeons : to do or say something that causes trouble and makes a lot of people angry or worried

I'm guessing Carvalho and Gundogan/Kroos
More likely a fullback, one of Coleman, Shaw or Coentrao instead of Gundogan/Kroos, but one can dream eh? Still, should be an exciting summer.

Good to see that we are looking to get things done early. But I'm not getting my hopes up at this point. Until they are confirmed and signed, anyone can come in a snatch the player away

I'm not sure whether to read anything into the context of that section of the article, as just prior to that (about us "addressing the issue"), it basically talks about how much we suck in midfield. Both players maybe midfielders? Winger and a midfielder? Or they're just guessing, of course.

Strange phrase I know.. But that's English for you. I used it to basically mean to liven / shake things up, getting involved and being bold in our transfer strategy.

With it being the WC year, it makes sense if we're doing our business as early as possible. Regarding the Moyes bit, if he's been given the financial backing and the chance to make his own team, there wont be any excuses next year. Either he gets us to perform or is sacked. I somehow trust him to do well in the market so am fine with it.

Carvalho's name is making lot of rounds, so one might be him. Are we really going to pay 37m for him? Is he that good? I hope other player is Kroos. Doubt though, as that transfer, even if to happen, will be protracted.

Heartening to know that owners are involved more in this to close deals soon. Our name is big enough and if we pay good salary, and given some exciting talent we already have in squad, players in age group 23-26 won't mind playing one year in Europa or not playing Europe at all as they will know it will be matter of time before the good players combined to get us back up in CL and challenging for title.

What will be important though will be to get players with right attitude and not overstack squad with too many big name players which might bring discontent.

I dont think anyone will. Too much for a player who's only just started to shine in the Portugese league.

You can say what you like about the Glazers, they may not know much about football but they're razor sharp at business and they know they have to invest heavily in the team if they're to maintain Utd's earning power into the future. Both they and Woodward know the last Summer window was a shambles that mustn't be repeated.

I've always said I'll judge Moyes in Dec 2014. Getting in a new bunch of top class players is one thing, quickly turning them into a top class team is another. The next 9 months will be very interesting and exciting from our point of view and will make or break Moyes' career at Utd.

We may, in theory, pay 37m but the fee could be paid in installments and based on performances and honours (ex 2m if we win the CL, 1 m if we win the EPL title etc)

His release clause is £37 million...

Anyway i never thought missing out on Champions League would be a huge problem. We've been a mainstay of the competition for years now, and we're a big club. I'm sure players know we aim to get back and probably won't be out for long.

The 2nd player maybe Garay.... We had a pre-agreement with him last season before we pulled out after Moyes took over. Maybe we've gone back in?

The release clause may be £37m but I'd be very surprised indeed if we paid anything remotely approaching that. It could quite easily be the case that for their own reasons (finances or whatever) Sporting are willing to cash in on him, in which case the release clause is irrelevant.

We supposedly made a massive contract offer to Kroos around £250k a month in the winter window and there has been a lot of speculation around Carvalho. More recently there has been whispers about Coleman and surely terms have been agreed with Coentrao at some point.

The fact remains though that deals in principle mean very little. We can get usurped at any time or the player might chose to stay with his current club.

We once had a deal in principle for Kluivert you know!

If deals are done, they should be done. This is just a nice rumour, nothing more. Anything not confirmed has the chance to fall apart.

Nothing is likely to be openly confirmed while the season is ongoing - unsettles the selling clubs, especially if they are high profile players at said club. I would imagine the club has learned its lesson from last year and is trying to get things tied up quickly.
