Grealish To City? | City bid £100M

Except for, you know, goals and assists. But who cares about those?

I don't agree that Grealish is better than Bruno because they are very different players.
But the constant stat peddling is annoying as feck and needs to stop. You can not compare stats of players playing in two different teams with a different set of players that are class apart.

People in group B are in for a rude awakening if Grealish (hope not) signs for City.

Is it getting to the point where there's going to be folk on here celebrating Grealish doing well thus celebrating City's success just to be able to say "told you so" to a bunch of strangers on an internet message board?

Oh, we’re well past that point. That’s standard Redcafe protocol.

Some of those pick-outs are unreal. Not to mention his dribbling and ball carrying. Reminded me why I’m in “group A”.

Grealish is better than Kdb when it comes into pretending to look like Robert Downey. That's about it.

26 years old with only 7 England caps going into this summer and a whopping 15 premier league goals to his name I was expecting more from the greatest player on the planet

Hopefully it ends up more than 100m just for the transfer fee alone. Preferably with huge salary as well. There should be Oil tax for Citeh. 135m fee + 500k salary would do it. 1m bonus per goal.

That wouldn't explain why neutrals who watch both players would overwhelmingly prefer Kevin De Bruyne. Bruno's decision making is erratic at times and he goes for the wrong option of pass rather than an easier pass. This is something that stats can't tell you. With Kevin De Bruyne, you get consistency in passing and his pass completion goes down when City are trying to break down low blocks and De Bruyne is attempting to cut through the defense.

It's widely believed that Scholes couldn't tackle. The stats show that Scholes was a better tackler than Ngolo Kante. Does that make sense?

De Bruyne is a better player, I'm not disputing that, he's the best creative midfielder in the world but for me Bruno is up there with anybody else. I'm saying people go overboard with the sloppy criticisms for Bruno though, and in fact even someone like De Bruyne is sloppy which every stat shows. It's just something that comes with the roles they play. They are the primary sources of creativity and try to force chances sometimes and play passes into the box frequently, so the pass completion naturally drops. Trying to frame it one way and make excuses for one and not the other really go to show how people trip over their feet to criticize our own players. What's wrong with just saying our own Bruno is also a world class player? Nothing.

Some people on here are just completely pitiful though and constantly look at other enviously instead of being happy with what they got. All the fecking babies about Grealish going to City when we literally got the more highly rated player who suits us more in Sancho, while already having Bruno Fernandes in our squad. It's annoying as feck. The opinion of EVERY SINGLE United fan in here should be "quality player, but we're loaded in that position so whatever". Instead you have drama queens overrating him and being weird as feck in their assertions that Bruno and Sancho are now nothing names and Grealish is Ronaldinho because he gets fouled a lot. It's fecked and they need to stop being such spoiled children.

I think anyone saying he's not worth 100m and that City are making a mistake signing him for that much money is missing the point.

He isn't worth that much but that means nothing to City. The reality is that they're getting another quality player to bolster an already strong squad. They could lose Foden, Mahrez, De Bruyne and Sterling any time of the week and still have a strong enough team to be beating the likes of Burnley, Newcastle etc with Grealish in the squad.

In terms of a league campaign, that's some advantage they have. It's an advantage that the likes of Liverpool, United and Chelsea don't really have.

100m and whatever wage they'll be paying Grealish is a small price to pay for owners with unlimited money to be getting that kind of advantage.

Yes

Not sure how he's going to do well when sitting on the bench.
Pep likes to have his shiny toys, but then he doesn't use them.

No one sits on the bench better than him. He knows how to move, when not to move, when to check Pep's head, when to stare at "we are not here" banner. No one can do better than him.

He’s got 15 top flight goals I’m reading so it should be £1mil per time fouled imo.

It will be the battle of century that no one really cares about. Who will win? the number of times Grealish falling over and win a foul vs oil production in UAE. My guess is Grealish will win. This video sums up his skills.
Why are people worried about Man city signing a player like this

Delusional to think Fergie will spend 100m on our strongest position. We have Sancho, Martial, Rashford, Pogba, and James who can all play there. You cant buy everyone.
You really think Martial and James are good enough of United? I don't - plus I don't think Pogba wants to stay and Rashford is out for months - and was awful for much of last season

You yourself have admitted we'd have gotten him if Villa got relegated meaning you knew we were after him then. This year there's nothing out there to show interest was there but I'm 100% sure the transfer people and scouts had discussed him. I saw an article somewhere some months back from The Telegraph saying that the players prefer Grealish but Ole wanted Sancho which shows discussions happened behind the scenes
Anyway that's beside the point, I NEVER said he's only a winger and even if he came to play in midfield(which would make us imbalanced IMO) do you hand on heart genuinely see him starting week in week out ahead of Bruno and Pogba(if he stays)? If Pogba left he'd probably make sense but assuming he stays and we add a competent DM name me 3 midfields in the PL better than Bruno, Pogba and a solid DM. Our midfield literally just lacks an anchor NOT another Attacking Midfielder
I'd play him ahead of Pogba - and I don't think Pogba wants to stay. We are going to be left light if Pogba goes late in the window. Plus his possession is so much better than Pogba's.
I don't think I said you called him a winger but lots of people here do

Just remember who the Grealish fan boys are on this thread when Sancho starts lighting it up this season.

He’s decent player but definitely not worth £100 million. We got 21 year old Sancho who is 87 rated on FIFA for £60 million and they bidding £100 million for 25 year old Grealish who rated only 80.

Regardless though it would be great if we hijacked the deal and big brother’d city again. Jack would choose us over them cretins any day and it just be another epic moment we flex on them and show them who the bosses are. Murtough would get him for cheaper too haha.

Martial is very much good enough for United. That’s a fact!

The Beckham comparisons are based on what exactly? His hairband? The fact girls think he's fit? Can't be how he actually plays the game.

Yea you’re right, Grealish’s game is far inferior to prime Beckham.

He's a great player but doesn't play where ourselves or City are weakest. So kind of a strange signing for me.

City have an entire squad of great-touch, close-control creative attacking forwards. They have an ancient, creaking defensive midfielder whose cloak of invisiblity to yellows will at some point rip - that's where they should be looking. For whatever reason Rodri hasn't been able to step in and do it. Plus, they only have one centre forward who I'm still not wholly convinced by.

So you bring on Grealish to take Silva's place? Or Sterling's? Does that really improve City that much? How will KdB react to not being the fulcrum? It's just unnecessary.

Similarly for us, would have made sense pre-Bruno but in no world do you need Grealish and Bruno - they're too similar, occupy the same spaces and fulfill the same role in the team.

I guess maybe City will go full Pep, haul off Jesus and somehow play KdB, Grealish, Mahrez, Silva and Sterling in some kind of constantly swapping swarm.

Stop talking sense will ya

In what position? Rashford left, Bruno at #10, so where does Grealish play?

As good as he is, I’m honestly not that concerned about him going to City. I think the hype around him this summer has been so hyperbole. It’s like he’s suddenly become Maradonna over the summer.

He will be a quality addition to the City team but for me, the likes of Sane at his best were more worrying and a bigger threat.

I’m actually interested to see how it works out at City because they’ve gone from a team having lots of pace in attack to slower players more focused on working the ball from back to front.

I do think with their reduced thread of pace in attack will allow teams to start pressing them higher up the pitch.

Rashford for awful last season? Geez the state of this forum.

When they do I’m sure you’ll be there celebrating with your city mates.

Yes because that's what lifelong Utd fans do. Get off your high horse. Some of us are just gutted he's going to City. Sancho is brilliant but Grealish is even better (at this time). As a Utd fan, it hurts
