Gaming Grand Theft Auto V | 2022: GTA+ (monthly GTA Online subscription) announced exclusively for PS5/Xbox Series

Cant even complete the scope out mission for fleeca right now. Always end up falling through the map and screen going white in the end.
It bugged for me as well when I hosted. When I got back to the garage the screen just froze. Had to Alt-F4, but when I got back in the step had completed anyway.

Hmm, just checked my stats and it shows i have completed some heist missions. Guess i should host one as well and get on with it.

It would be cool if they had a mission where you have to drive out to the desert to take out two meths cooks. GTA has always had little odes to popular culture.
Props to you, this was almost spot on. Just did my first mission with Trevor where he wakes up on the trainrails in his undies and you have to thrawl through the desert in your Walter White undies for a while, just to see a the only vehicle in miles... yep a bloody camper that looks exactly like the one they used in BB. Oh, and he cooks meth too, in case it wouldn't have been completely obvious.

I know I am asking it a it late, but is GTAV worth getting for my ps4? I don't want to look for too much challenge in gaming, all I want is easy fun.

I think it will be exactly what you are looking for then.

I consider it to be the best game I have ever played. That's not to say it's perfect, but I have spent more time playing this game than pretty much any other. The amount of things you can do is basically limitless - the single player campaign (plus all the side missions etc), and of course the sandbox nature of the game means you can always invent things to do. Older GTA's used to have an element of annoyance to some players - if you failed part of a mission then you had to restart it from the beginning. Now you have more forgiving checkpoints, which cuts down any annoyance and enables you to just have fun and enjoy it. It's certainly much less annoying than FIFA!!

On top of what would already be an incredible deep game, you have the online component. This is the mode that I spend pretty much all my game time in. Again, a wide range of things to do - missions, races, survival challenges, as well as the recently released heists. I am not too much of a fan playing in random lobbies online, as it has evolved into kill or be killed. But playing in private lobbies with the other people from the Caf is a huge amount of fun.

I have bought the game on PS3 and PS4 and it is easily the best value for money I have spent.

So I just started this on PC, looks amazing, is there any differences between the PS4 version and the PC one?

There are a few others playing on PC - would suggest posting in the RedCafe Crew thread also:

https://www.redcafe.net/threads/swo...ad-featuring-the-redcafe-crew.376973/page-289

In my experience, it is infinitely more enjoyable playing online with people from the crew as opposed to randoms - certainly if you want to do heists or anything cooperative like that.

Am I the only one who got bored of this GTA after 3 or 4 days?

I just played career mode though, but I am big fan of GTA but for some reason I didn't find this one quite entertaining as I thought it will be. San Andreas single player was much more fun, IMO.

That's probably you getting bored more easily or wanting for different kind of games these days. Not just you, everyone. San Andreas was something new, that's something other games can't replace, as much as they try. This one was the closest it could be to accomplishing that in my opinion though: I loved the 3-character mechanic that worked wonderfully, loved the graphics, loved the vehicle variety. Gorgeous sceneries, city, mechanics. It's great!

I find it very strange, with two such similar games, where one is clearly an evolution of the other in almost every single department, one thinks the other is more fun. I adore single player, and I adore roleplaying, and had countless hours of fun in this game, using mechanics and enjoying sceneries and animations I couldn't dream of when playing San Andreas. Not only I had more fun, I think I had better fun. It's a better game, as it's supposed to be.

I'm relieved this is one of those series of games where things aren't spiralling to shit at an alarming rate. They still deliver an excellent product. I hope the online frantic doesn't kill their ability to make great single-player games. I love both games, but think single player has a cinematographic feel that online fails to capture so well. And I'm not talking about missions action cameras and such, but the whole liveliness of the city.

I've recently started playing Vice City on my PS2 game. Will forever be the best in my eyes.

I used to play Vice City on PC. Was definitely very good but wouldn't say the best as far as GTA is concerned.

I also think I have a CD of GTA 2 somewhere as well with the Yakuzas etc. The screams when you ran people over

No I got bored of it pretty quickly as well. In my case the reason is clear, having played every single main GTA since the very first one to death, I'm just getting bored of the entire genre. There's no question in my mind that GTAV is the most refined GTA-like game I've ever played. The characters are fantastic, the 3 protagonist mechanic a great idea and wonderfully executed, the missions fun and varied, the game world beautifully realized, etc etc. Basically a near perfect GTA game.

But the thing is it's still not that different from other/previous GTA's (and similar series), and that's not even a criticism. That's just how these games are. After a while, you just get the feeling you've seen it all before. Maybe I just need a break from open world games like this.

This may sound crazy but I think this game would be my favourite if it had the little things from Vice City, San Andreas and IV combined.

The ability to go gym, eat at fast food places, buy a coffee, buy a hot dog, go bowling or play pool, use arcade games, go to clubs and dance, the casino, bookies etc. While the story and world in general are great, I just think its missing the variety of its predecessors when you want to just waste some time.

I like the idea of adding a few more things to do. In saying that, in SA I never really used the gym etc, and it was annoying to have to up my character's stamina by regularly eating.

I would like them to add the taxi driver and vigilante missions from previous GTAs - along with the truck delivery missions etc. Throw in plane / helicopter delivery missions as well and I would be more than happy :)

I never found those things particularly fun, probs because it never really seemed to fit the character. Now with Trevor it always seems right to just go mental, and doing those things whilst going mental would be pretty entertaining. I say all this, but haven't played GTA for well over a year now.

GTA V was the first GTA for me where I found the missions and storyline more fun than the actual world they made. The map is so very weird, basically one big ringroad with a giant lake in the middle. No proper second city, meaning aside from Chiliad there isn't really anywhere to fly to once you steal a plane from L.S. This is just the tip of the iceberg of my complaints on the game.

I will go against the current stream here and say that I enjoyed the game a lot. Completed story mode once on PS3 and will definitely complete it again on the new generation when I eventually get down to it and I believe I've spent north of 100 hours in online mode on new gen, exploring the city and doing side stuff. The atmosphere in this game is absolutely 100% spot on.

Totally agree with this - I can't think of a recent game that I have put more time into or found more enjoyable. I do have criticisms, or areas that I think they could improve, but they don't detract from my experience with the game.

The update they delivered on current gen is also fantastic - and adds a lot to the overall experience.

I said this to Duffy the other day - I cannot wait to see what they are able to achieve when developing the game for PS4 from scratch, rather than updating a PS3 game.

Same, or relatively the same for me.

I'd actually say it's made me appreciate San Andreas even more. It's a PS2 game where the map is actually pretty small, and yet there is just so much depth. You spend so long in Los Santos and learn all the weird nooks and crannies like it's your local town, and then suddenly you are thrust first into the wilderness, then into the culture of San Fierro and the riches Las Venturas. Because of the three separate cities, you have to move about and learn the map. You spend your time riding down the freeways at 100 miles per hour. You learn the shortcuts across country. It's so good.

And not including that, there is so much depth. You have all the side property missions, the ambulance missions, the police missions, the taxi missions, the fire missions, etc. You have the gang wars.

Obviously GTA V has a feck load of depth too, but a lot of it exists in this weird place where its either a boring side mission, or just "something to look at". I dont want to do a triathlon in GTA. I wouldn't mind grabbing a tank and trying to blow up lots of burglars to get a jet.

GTA V also makes things that used to be difficult, very easy. In San Andreas, you had 5/6 weapons? Now you can carry them all, and you don't lose them? In San Andreas, if you were lost in the wilderness, you spent 2 hours getting home. In GTA V, you flick up the right analogue stick whilst holding Right on the D Pad (or whatever it is).

Sorry, what does this do?

Also, does anyone know how/where to get a Zentorno in story mode? I don't play online.
Changing the person you are playing as. I haven't played GTA V in a while so I can't think of what the button is... it's right on the D Pad and right analogue stick isn't it?

In San Andreas, when you got stuck somewhere horrid you ran home. Now you just change character.

Got it, right. It's actually down on the D-pad and right analog stick for me on Xbox.

It's third anniversary so I decided to give it a go again and finally complete it on PS4. A really good game, I barely remember the story so it's like a new experience. It's nowhere near the level of Witcher when it comes to story and especially side missions but the core gameplay is very good, diversity of missions is fine. It's a shame they've not released any story DLCs.

I fear this might be the last great GTA game.

I think they've killed it with the online multilayer aspect.

I've never played Witcher but GTA has never had a truly mind-blowing story, it was always something that complimented the gameplay. I hope they do make some story DLCs but its been 3 years and their focus seems to be on GTA Online, they normally take about 5 years between games so I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a new title next year.

Christ, I missed this post for a long while! I think you're spot on. Another thing is in SA they let the countryside be countryside, in GTAV a road intersects almost every bit of ground constantly. It's infuriating.

I actually think GTA V as a map is one of the poorest AAA maps around.

Yep it's very hard to tell any sort of meaningful story when your character can just run off and kill a ton of civilians. Although saying that I'd wish they put a bit of thought into it, at the moment it looks like a university student trying to make a Michael Mann film.

I think you could genuinely argue that SA was the last great GTA game.

GTA IV was a bowling simulator. GTA V was just, I dunno, always felt like an elaborate let-down for me.

Seems like there must have been a new thread after this... 1.5 years later!

That's true.
