In my memory, Moyes got a ton of excuses made for him, to the point that people were blaming Fergie for the mess! That's my only point, if you can call it that. :)
 
Liverpool finished 8th in Klopp first season without a pre-season. Give this guy at least his pre-season no matter what the damage is.

:lol: Can’t believe lot of chelsea fans I spoke in here before the seasons started said their squad are good enough to challenge the league.
 
Chelsea have a huge number of issues, but the manager is miles away from being the worst one.

Re Chelsea, I blame Putin. Ever since Abramovitch became persona non grata, Chelsea have been in free fall.

Being a top manager is obviously hard. Not only that, it’s harder than it looks.

Doing a brilliant job at a club like Brighton is a million miles away from doing a passable job at Chelsea. You need so many skills and, on top of that, the right personality and character.

It’s an even harder job at United and ETH is making it look rather easy - thank God we got him before Chelsea sacked Tuchel or else he might have gone there and we might have ended up with Potter.

You’re not the only one ….pre season I thought Chelsea and City were the the most likely title challengers.

Though didn’t think they should have sacked Tuchel.

Was Klopp's record that good when he first came in at Liverpool? Maybe not in defeats but they had plenty of draws.

Edit: Liverpool only won 3 of their first 9 league games under Klopp in 15/16 but picked up second half of the season a bit more. Was still only 6 wins in about 16 games though.
 
He is looking like a lost boy in interviews lately…pressure must be horrendous for him.

Giving me Ole “fantastic” vibes at the moment.

Never should have left Brighton. Had the chance to build something fantastic there, with an infrastructure that was wholly supportive of what he was doing. A couple more years at Brighton and then a move to Spurs would have been the right path for him.

Going to get sacked soon at Chelsea and set his career back around 5 years.
 
The problem is he needs time but he's already on the back foot in getting buy in from the players, he's not a high profile ex-pro, he doesn't have trophies to fall back on and so every defeat is going to chip away at how cohesively the plan comes together, mentally they're going to be less and less confident in him by the week and just waiting for the next guy. Add injuries and an inbalanced squad on top of that and it's a big struggle.

Indeed. In truth, it's got all the hallmarks of Moyes at United but with the added angle of it being a mid-season appointment, which makes things even harder. Where does he even start, to get a handle on everything? Even for a manager with loads of top level experience it wouldn't be easy.

I think he was right to go to Chelsea (opportunities like that are rare and you need to back yourself if you want to be a top manager) but I think Chelsea have to give him time to get things right.
 
Sacking him at this point is idiotic. Top 4 is gone and I can't see them winning the CL. At this moment even top 6 seems a reach. Let Potter do his job and see if things improve.

Also, I feel Boehly is just spending for the sake of it now. This is worse version of Woodward.
 
Kinda shame how this turned out to be.

Basically the new David Moyes. Proven to be out of his depth at clubs of such statue. Brighton is his level
 
I was of the opinion that you can't sack two managers on the same season but god damn chelsea are bad. Results are poor as feck and morale seems to hit a new low on each game. If they dont win against Crystal Palace their next game is Liverpool. I dont think he'll survive.

Usually, newly-promoted teams tend to go down again within three or four years. Brighton are still here for a reason...

Regarding the win percentage, it was 34 in 119 games if you only take the Premier League (28.6%). That was up from a 23.7% win percentage in their first two seasons in the Premier League (with Hughton). These are still very good results. And he was mainly praised for the playing style; their expected goals have been high. If they had the means to get better finishers, it could be even better.

Klopp had a big reputation following his success with Dortmund and obviously a big personality, both are non existent with Potter. Even his playing career was mediocre. To manage a big club you need the players to buy into whatever you're selling, and even if all the injuries and bad signings aren't his fault, with each loss he'll lose more players. ETH managed to turn things around and get the players on his side after 2 games. Potter looks hopeless.
 
Stupid appointment by stupid wannabe star owner. An incredible average manager with somehow inflated reputation, like i said, Moyes mk.2. Dont sack him too soon Boehly.
 


Broadly my take. Maybe not worse but there's definitely a familiar feel.

Might be a Graham Moyes moment for Chelsea.
 
When Potter says things like "anything that can go wrong - is going wrong" reminds me of some of the quotes Moyes came out with at United. If you're constantly blaming 'bad luck' for your results then it ultimately wears very thin on a fanbase who are used to success.

This makes me kind of happy. The money will be somewhat comforting to him (think how many Kenwood juicers you could buy with that cash) whilst at the same time ruining Chelsea's finances to the point where the FA and UEFA might even lift their heads for once and notice that Chelsea are crooked as feck. Just for a second, mind, before they're protected again.
