Graeme Sourness | Retires from “punditry”

How is she bad? She talks more sense than half the pundits.

She talks really badly about football. She’s discriptive at the expense of being engaging.

I’m not saying she doesn’t have value. She’s just not a very good talking head.

She’ll improve, of that I’m sure. It’s possible to balance content delivery with personality. But right now she’s pretty bad in my eyes.

Souness can be a bit of a tit and he showed himself up interrupting. However, that doesn’t make Alex Scott any good at her job, she’s not very good and, let’s be honest, very few of the female pundits/writers are any good. Most of this season’s podcasts have been ruined by having them on every show. Alyson Rudd is a good example, non-stop nonessense from her all the time...

Yes, but Alex is nicer to look at :)

Disagree. Watching her HT comments on matches and summarising matches at full time she's got it spot on plenty of times. You can tell she tells it how she sees it, rather than with any type of agenda.

I've heard much worse stuff coming out of Henry, Phil Neville, Sourness etc.. The only consistent male Pundit these days is Carragher.

But Rudd keeps using words like beautiful. And pretty. And she’s oh so not afraid of using some historically determined ladies words in a mans world.

You get the feeling that Rudd writes an essay on a topic before any appearance and looks for the first way to give her speech.

Doesn’t she do that? And her version of insight is to insist that shit to average players are “world class” - Sigurdsson and Charlie Adam being the ones she loves the most.

Alyson Rudd is complete shite, a biased Liverpool fan who talks nonsense.

Alex Scott is good. Sounds like she actually does research.

Disagree. Think she speaks sense on a lot of things tbh and definitely has a lot more substance and nuance to her speaking points than the cliche merchants that are usually rolled out on Sky.

I think Alex Scott has been really good so far, and I normally dislike the idea of shoehorning women into men's sport commetary. She's been so good I think maybe Sky should be considering trying her out as one of the co-commentators and seeing how she does.

Emma Hayes (chelsea manager) is one of the best full stop. (That's including the men).

There's no easy way of saying this but does she have a bit of a tash going on? I was trying to figure it out the other day, as I couldn't believe all the makeup experts that are involved in these shows wouln't address it if she did indeed have one.

Like I said no easy way of asking that question :(

Alex Scott knows what she’s talking about. She’s just terrible at presenting that knowledge in an engaging way. If she was ugly she wouldn’t be on tv.

Yh behind the weird way she presents, she's actually decent in terms of content. Couple that with being a delight on the eyes (particularly when sat next to Sourpatch kid Souness) and she'll be a mainstay for a while I think.

In fairness, the 'art' of presenting on tv is probably something you can learn quite quickly, it's time some of the old dinosaurs were moved on anyway.

Agreed

Comparing Scott to Rudd is extremely harsh. Scott actually knows what she’s talking about. I have no idea why anyone would listen to any podcast that features Rudd, it’s not 2012 anymore, plenty of better options.

Alex Scott needs to just slow down and chill out, she knows her stuff but it often sounds like she's pumping it out witht stopping for breath.

Almost as if she's reading off an autocue.

She's also full of clichés

Sometimes it just seems like she's nervous and trying to get all the words out before she's interrupted or something. Sitting beside an angry old man and a moron probably doesn't help her. Let's face it, she's only in the door and has been stuck as the voice of reason, the brains of the operation and often the only one not peddling some bizarre agenda. She's doing grand under the circumstances.

I don't rate her. The questions she asks players and managers when interviewing them are really basic and uninteresting. Like @RC89 said she uses a lot of clichés.

I met her last year funnily enough at Heathrow Airport and she seemed a bit up her own ass.

Honestly would love Pogba to name drop Souness in an interview.

Instead of name drop in a negative sense, just like the person below you said, wear a t shirt underneath and tell Souness that's it's all dedicated to him. Would piss him off even more

I mean clearly he was a quality player in his day. But his analysis on players in his punditry is often him just talking about whether or not he thinks they may or may not have been bullied on the pitch. He offers very little.
