I dont think we can say Rooney plays as deep as Valencia and Nani so there's just as much weight to 4-4-1-1 as 4-2-3-1

Hmm, I'd maybe describe it as 4231 with the ball, 4411 without. Obviously it doesn't really matter what we call it, we play how we play, but it does get annoying when people moan about us supposedly clinging to some ancient 442 that has no chance of success against any modern formation. By the way some fans talk you'd think Fergie was some dinosaur who thinks a big man and a little man up top is the pinnacle of football tactics.
I predict that at the start of the season we'll play a few games with Kagawa - Rooney instead of Rooney - Welbeck, and caftards will be rejoicing at finally ditching 442, despite us playing with the exact same system we've been using for a fair while.
