While i think Osimhen is the logical choice, i think making the move quickly for Ramos is the smarter choice. He'll be easier to get from Benfica so no prolonged negotiations and it wont be as expensive so we can strengthen in other places as well

well for starters he actually has a release clause in his contract so that is one thing....second thing is that Benfica are a selling club and if they can get a big fee, they will move him along.
If we're paying his release clause might as well add 20m and sign Osimhen then

again...Osimhen doesn't have a release clause, they'll be coming off of wining their first Scudetto in lord knows how long PLUS a big run the champions league. I think negotiations for him won't be easy as they don't need the money so it will end up like trying to deal with Spurs and Levy for Kane.
EtH has already gone on record that he wants the main bit of summer business done before they come to the US for preseason. Just can't see that happening UNLESS you throw Big money right off the bat which we know won't happen
No point saying again, the same thing applies for Ramos, because they won't negotiate much lower than his release clause in my opinion. So that again would be throwing big money right off the bat.

Benfica won't be selling for less than Nunez and unless he has great games in the remaining matches of the ucl, no club would offer more than what Liverpool got for Nunez

so is this the bench mark for Benfica?? IF United could basically negotiate this type of deal for Ramos would this make more sense than going after Kane or Osimhen? 64m up front, i assume up front not amortized, would make for an interesting decision by the club with the rest in add ons.

No chance I would buy Ramos for €100mn if Osimhen can be got for €20mn more. I like Ramos but think he would struggle against English defences and I just don't think he's athletic enough overall.
Seems like the most logical choice given price tag of him in comparison to Osimhen and Kane. Plus, we have other areas that need to be addressed that will require big investment like CM and CB.

I feel of all the big money strikers out there, Ramos is the one that is possibly least likely to fit the premier league. Hope I'm wrong. I know he's probably the cheapest but I'd rather we just pay the extra cash to get Osimhen who I think will be a star for us.

If it was 70 million including add ons, it looks an okay fee. Especially if some of them rely on him actually succeeding, which is obviously a much better add on for a buying club as it prices in them not flopping. Benfica probably wouldn't like that though, and their whole ethos is attracting very large fees for players that are still to be proven in a top league. So it's always a little risky. But the market is really difficult for strikers, that is going to be a thing we have to accept, and the level of interest in this guy will probably dictate where he lands within that range.

I would have thought that any move we make this summer would either be for Kane or made with an eye on Kane as a free transfer next year. Not sure how spending big money on a far from certain hit like Ramos makes much sense from that perspective.
Absolutely not, 100M for Ramos? he's got what one season as a starter in portugal? Osimhen and specially Kane are solid options. Have shown level to deserve their price tag severeal season now.

Osimhen is a pipe dream right now (can't afford what Napoli want for him) and Kane involves dragging the transfer on until deadline day with Levy.
I'm fine if the club believe Ramos is ready to step up. They identified Haaland, Nunez, Sesko etc. through some good scouting (feel like I'm forgetting atleast one striker). If Ten Hag and the scouts think Ramos is ready then I'm happy to go along with it.
Exactly, but we all know benfica doesnt sell for cheap. Sold Enzo for 120M, Nunez for 80M. They dont need the money and they're used to holding players unless they get the ridiculous fees they ask.

Well you have factor in wages, Agent fees etc which would be significantly higher in Case of Kane, Osimhen so it would be More Than 25 m difference.
If we pay anywhere close to this for Goncalo Ramos, we deserve everything we get.
I think a keeper along with a striker is the priority. We sign a CB every fecking summer.
