Television Gomorra (TV series)

Is it any better than the film (which I thought was brilliant)?

Watched the first episode about a month ago and really liked it but since I hardly watch any movies or series during the summer I have only seen the one episode.

I like the show better than the film, though they are quite similar even if it's not exactly the same story. Best new show I've seen in some time. It's very much inspired by real events from Naples and hence very dark, just like the film and book.

Now I need Season 2!

First episode was good. It had it all; tagliatelle, cheek kissing, bad driving. Everything.

Scrumpet fighting the good fight.

Everyone should see this. Well not children, but the rest of you.

what's the breast/schong ratio? The Returned was around 4:1 wasn't it?
I think the only nudity so far has been old man prison shower scenes. If that doesn't convince you to watch I don't know what will.

Fantastic series so far. Genny is stealing the show for me as the son who just isn't quite up to following in his dad's footsteps. And you just know that his Oedipal mother and his bird are gonna clash big time.

Someone needs to sit down with Ciro and have a chat about invading people's personal space.

Watched the first few episodes on the basis of this thread and it's great. A bit mean and moody but by 10 minutes in to the second episode I was pretty invested in the story line and characters, thinking back on it a lot happens without it ever seeming frenetic. The Genny bike scene was impressive.

Check out Romanzo Criminale (Film and Series)if you don't mind Italian subtitled TV, similar themes of violence and gangs but based in Rome.

The only man in the entire world who could smoke one of those ridiculous e-cigarettes and still manage to look cool.

Every time I see this thread pop up I think "What kind of TV program is called Gonorrhea?"

I'm 3 in now. It's pretty good. Genny's fascination with this 80's perm spring bird is already starting to annoy me though.

Also I was a bit drunk but what was the number that Ciro was carrying around on the bit of paper? Is he the rat?

Cosign that.

They're all on youtube as well. If you speak Italian like.

Episode 7 was really good. Best since the second episode for me. Imma is a great character, no danger of Skyler White syndrome there.

Aye. Formidable woman. She has crazy eyes.

Now that Genny's back, is he a changed man? Certainly didn't look happy.

It just gets better every week. This is the most gripping series I've watched in a long time. Everything about it is top notch. I especially love the music as the closing credits start.

I don't know how the election worked either. Maybe lots of illegals were allowed to vote because they always had a blank voting card spare? I dunno.

Genny is still the star of the show.

Good stuff! It's haunting that music.

This is the thing with Ciro, though. He's been brought up to be a heartless cnut and the kid is colateral damage. The film kind of pre-warned me a bit. The sneak peak for the next week's show kind of made it look like he was mentoring the kid, but I know how horrible they treated those kids in the film so when he was given the job by Ciro I thought "this won't end well". Ciro just used him from the start. Probably did it partly as payback for damaging his bike.

Aye. I was getting a bit worried that the episodes were starting to all follow the same pattern, where we're introduced to a new character and we watch their life go down the shitter for 50 minutes, but in the last episode you can see it all coming together with the connections between the kid's brother and Conte etc. Last 3 episodes should be great.

Been meaning to start watching this for ages. Sounds like its right up my street.

I've just looked on Sky demand though and it's only showing episodes 7-10. Anywhere it can be watched/downloaded or reliably streamed so I can notify the relevant authorities and ensure nobody else can enjoy it?

Just finished the 6th episode. Incredible show so far. I know it's based on a book and then a movie, but will there be a season 2 or is this it?

Yes, there's supposed to be a second season from what I've read. I'm guessing it will probably be a while though.
