Glazers / Woodward out! (One down)

I don't know if they will ever sell the club but they just need to simply do the right thing. I don't think fans are demanding £400m net spend per window but them just accepting that things have gone wrong and need to be corrected.

For starters we could bring Ragnick and start working towards a coherent vision from the academy going up to the first team. The money we spend could be spent better and we should be on the lookout for the best talent available from both the playing and the coachin/scouting/management side. If we start doing the right things then results will follow.

Arnold sounds excited by the impact of technology obviously with the view towards live streaming and making money off that but at the moment Liverpool, Barcelona and City look poised to capitalize on that because they have the momentum on the pitch. Selling Manchester United as a brand wouldn't be difficult with a competitive team on the pitch.

Hang on, haven’t we started to produce from our academy. Our academy is actually doing fantastically well.

Yeah it's been impressive when you look at the likes of McT, Rashford, Tuanzebe and William's before the likes of Garner and Greenwood. I am not advocating for an overhaul of the youth system but for someone to come in and sync all the football operations together so that when the likes of Arnold are excited by the social media numbers and Ole is busy with the first team we have someone working everyday on the long term growth of the football side and not treat the football business as an afterthought.

But.. isn’t that exactly what is happening?

Because right now we have a manager who understands this aspect of the club i.e. the need for long term planning and the importance of the youth. What if things don't work out with that manager? Would Jose have risked his job on the likes of Martial, Rashford, James, Tuanzebe etc coming good? We need that long view being held by someone with football intelligence at the upper echelons of the club so that when the manager goes we don't start from scratch.

No Jose didn’t have that view, which is why he was destined to fail. A lot of the shortcomings we have at the moment come from hiring Jose.

You are explaining my point brilliantly, our system is too dependent on who the manager is and his whims. If we had LVG instead of Jose we would never have bought Lindelof and Axel would be like Rashford now, a settled PL player. This is why I am saying we need someone up there to ensure that someone like Jose never walks through the door again.

This is a misconception imo. We don't have nearly as much money as fans think we have. Just look at our operating margin.
It's not a misconception if you take into consideration the ins & outs. The window just gone we let Herrera go on a free with no one to replace him. Fellaini departed before that with no one coming in. Lukaku let go with no one coming in. Sanchez also on loan with out someone coming in. Big clubs with serious ambition don't operate in such a way.

I agree, and it is shown this season.

We have never had serious ambition under the Glazers. They have shown time and time that they will never...ever go beyond our means after things like interest payments, dividends etc are taken into account.
My main point is that our relative lack of spending in the last three years isn't because of an impending sale but because the Glazers are simply not inclined to take financial risks. Even with those outgoings you mentioned, we still have one of the most bloated, over paid squads with players we can't ship out. Our revenues have flat-lined over the last few years but costs keep going up.

The Glazers took a huge risk by buying the club via a leveraged buyout. So risks in the transfer market even with flat-lined revenues are miniscule in comparison. The Adidas deal will also take a hit with another season out of the Champions League.

The Saudi's present Glazers with possibly the best exit strategy with their vast wealth. Richard Arnold is also literally living in Saudi with the number of times he's frequented the country in the last few years.

I don't know the particulars of our finances but I think we can afford to spend more than we have spent in the past two summers, may something in the region £80m - £100m.

I prefer the positivity of Ole but was Jose incorrect to moan? No. Ed brought in jose to win the league. He wins the League cup, Europa league in his first season. Finish 2nd in his second season. Jose was brought in to win the league asap, so he needed those kind of players. Ed after giving a new contract decided not to fully back him. That was on Ed and the Glazer's.
Couldn't agree more. This should not be forgotten.

Basically nothing to report. We all know United delegation are there but no one actually knows whether a sale will be discussed.

I'm guessing we will hear more over the weekend as this event they have gone to, is over 3 days.

Many saudi journalist was urging the Saudi investment fund to buy the club.

this is a very known journo who wrote an article about how is it important for the Saudi investment fund should think about the deal and make it happen, he said there is nothing better for the Saudi investment than being connected with the greatest football club in the world.
He posted another picture with Arnold and said he tried to know if there is any truth in the deal between Saudia and the Glazers, but he said he couldnt get any information about any deal and all the talks were confidential.

Are you from Saudi? What do you think about the rumours? Much chatter for a long time so it might be something in it imo (without any knowledge whatsoever about it).

Nope im not from Saudi. I dont believe MBS wants to buy the club. Saudi officials came out and said MBS has no time for sports. But I suspect that the saudi fund is considering buying the club or maybe a percentage.

Thanks for replying to my earlier reply.

Who are the 'Saudi fund'? Why would they be considering to buy and not MBS himself?

In any case, highly doubt any Saudi fund is making any concrete plan until the listing of ARAMCO is finalised.

Saudi takeover is probably the only way can get rid of the Glazers right? I mean buying them out is gonna cost a ridiculous amount of money.

Another question, as of this moment, the Glazers own 75.7% of the club?

Its blowing up on twitter. Loads of Man United linked accounts (people who you'd think would know better) are talking about it. Seems to stem from this earlier.

The stock price on NYSE has hardly moved - it is usually quite good at latching on to credible rumours.

Sad times really for me. If it happens I will lose a lot of passion for the club. And when you look at it, it’s really been a slow painful death under the glazers and now this, money talks. Let’s see what happens but a lot of smoke there now.

From that guys LinkedIn -
Moaid Mahjoub continues to grow his expertise in Public Relations in his new role as Director of External Relations for the Private Office of His Royal Highness Dr. AbdulAziz bin AbdulRahman bin AbdulAziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia

Please let this be true! I don't see any other way that United can return to being a top European team with the Glazers in charge. The Saudi's won't invest and be associated with an average team, which United currently are. Heavy investment will be done, similar to PSG & City early on.

I think this will happen, just not sure when. Just seems all too obvious really, doesn't it? Sadly the only exit I see from the Glazers.
My sentiments exactly, the Saudis present the perfect exit for the Glazers and owning United has its benefits in terms of prestige. It's just a matter of when in my opinion.

If this does happen then a club that can compete with every other club self-sufficiently will go from being leeched to being (PR aside) again denied the opportunity to win on its own merits.
