I feel a similar way and hope that when the new owners come in, they care as much about results on the pitch as they do about making money off it.
I am also hoping that they bring in people who know something about football to restructure the club so that we don't have someone like Woodward calling the shots again and they try their hardest to get us back up there competing for the top trophies.
I made peace with Herrera leaving. He signed a 5 year deal with PSG believed to be around £200k a week. His most important attribute was his work rate, he managed 20 goals and 18 assists over 5 seasons with us. He's 30 years old now, we would have been absolutely mad trying to match that deal, once his legs start to go you're going to be left with a very limited midfielder. His passing was nothing special, he wasn't great under pressure and his defensive work was reactionary rather than proactive.
For all the criticisms Ed gets, I think he was right to shy away from that one.
I'll be honest I despise the Glazers and I will be over the moon when they sell but I'm also a husband, father of two who doesn't proritize Manchester United above all else. I go to games wearing my Norwich scarf, that's my contribution.
Very true but it's just the sheer lack of planning. I'll blame Ed as ultimately he is in charge of the football side of things. No one seems to know who actually calls the shots. But we would have known that Ander wasn't going to sign, so Ed and the team should have identified targets and got them in.
I'm a husband, father to 3 children and I've been to just one game this year, wear no merchandise and don't follow any of the clubs official social media.
If there is a protest organised, I'll go to that too.
Agreed. It seems to me as if Woodward has such a high opinion of his own football knowledge that he felt that we would be alright with out a replacement for Herrera.
I don't live in England so I only attend 5-6 games a season but I could use the money for one of those trips to come and protest I guess. I have to admit I'm not as devoted in the anti Glazer campaign as you.

I dont know if this has already been mentioned but I seem to remember a couple of seasons ago the Liverpool supporters being upset with the management of the club after they increased ticket prices. They arranged to walk out of the stadium at a specific time (think it was somewhere in the last 10 minutes of the match). They did this a few times and the management caved in.
I know people are reluctant to do something that might affect the players on the pitch but the scousers got it right on this one. They made their disapproval known in away that minimised the affect on the players (all leaving near the end of the match) but at the same time maximised their public campaign against the owners (by having the whole world audience see empty seats and embarrass sponsors).
I think its worth a shot and doesnt penalise ticket holders from boycotting a whole match but just the last 10 mins or some arbitrary number.

Which is fine. I'm not expecting people to be as passionate as me. I'm just like that. But what I can't, and I'm not saying you are one of them, are people who keep moaning about our current plight and want to do nothing. Just amazes me. Even an unfollow of the clubs social media isn't difficult but people are just not prepared to do it!
But it was quite obvious that a 40m Matic was not going to suit the new United Mantra, pace! So if he did believe this, it was negligence. AP has never played as a midfielder. Has always been on the wings or as no10. Again, negligence.
Which is something I can understand. I personally can not go but don't expect others not too. But it would be great if fans showed their dissent towards the board by either walking in late or leaving early...10-15 mins earlier.
I want Woodward out, or at least removed from footballing decisions. Not bothered about the Glazer's as long as they remove Woody.
Last couple seasons if I'm honest the ritual prior to the game has become more enjoyable than the game itself. Getting there early having my greasy fish and chips from the same old lady I always buy from (sometimes her daughter), going to the Trafford for a few beers and spit some banter with the other fans, having a long discussion with the man who always wants to sell me the half-half scarfs outside the megastore etc. etc.
Now when I wrote that I don't know why I enjoy it as much as I do, to each his own I guess.
He may have thought that we have enough in that area. I think he should have seen that Matic legs were going. I think that was a mistake on his part. I can understand how he might have wanted to give Fred another season after he had his year to adjust to the league.
I don't think that he should be the one to be judging who the 1 or 2 right midfielders we could potentially sign should be. He should get someone in with more knowledge about football than him who can make these decisions.
And what you have described is what going to the game is about. It's not just the game itself but it's about the anticipation of how the game is going to go. All the fans being in high spirits before the game of how the game is going to, expecting to win and how much closer we will be on the road to winning a trophy. After the game if we've won, we're all singing, going to the bars and be in high spirits. If we lose, we will discuss but know we have the next game and we will win.
But does any of the above now apply? No. We go in hope rather than expectation and if we have a bad result, you can't think it will be better in the next game.
If we'd bought Longstaff in, that may have been the obvious extra body most of us thought was needed.
Seems tough to believe a relatively untried, non certain starter at Newcastle was "The" answer though.
I agree on that. We knew Herrera was going for a while so I can't understand why the only midfielder we were realistically linked with was Longstaff. I thought they would have had a list of targets if we were intending on bringing anyone in.
Would love to know the rea truth to all of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if we thought Herrera was playing with us, and we tried to call his bluff.
And therefore lost a 30-40m player for nothing.
Tricky one though, as he certainly didn't warrant the wages being bandied around, and I always thought his status as a key player for us said more about the team as a whole than his actual level.
Just a question for the OT fan. Do you have songs about Ed and the owners? I understand you are going to sing about the club and players and how much you love them. Surely you have 1 or 2 about the bad guys. Are you allowed to sing songs to stir them up a bit. Or is it just a no no?

If we thought he was trying to bluff us we've got ourselves to blame. If we wanted to keep him that much I believe we should have tried to sort his contract situation out much earlier. I'm not sure if it's true but I read somewhere that by the time we came round to negotiating with him that he had already agreed to join PSG.
I don't think we would have offered him a 5 year deal. I think his legs will start going by the time he is 33.

Steady decline since sadly, each season I expect less and less. I am completely happy with top 6 this year and expect a top 10. This was unthinkable just 3-4 seasons ago. The only plus this season is that I really enjoy watching our youth play.

I think its perfectly alright to be "pissed" or more constructively: ask questions and provide solutions to the issues at the club. There are a lot of good threads on here which does just that.
I dont really agree on the part that some owners are "smart", and ours are not, though. Who would that be?

Owners dont care about if the team wins or not except for the leveraging of that towards profits or in Citys case: dirty laundrying. I rather use that term than sportswashing, which is far to lenient to what they have been doing. It goes for all of the above.
Thats why I dont get that posters on here think that there is some unicorn benefactor out there. There is not. Owners of top class football-clubs are generally in it for the almighty dollar. Its just how it is.

Everytime I talk about things that could be done against the Glazers I see the "we can't influence anything" mantra repeated over and over again, which shows, to our deepest shame, that the average IQ of the Kop is above ours nowadays.
Everywhere around the world supporters try to do something when their clubs are in their sort of crisis, only our fans (the most toxic in the world, remember) seem to adopt the "support everything, everytime at all costs" approach, thus enabling aberrations like Ed Woodward to have more safety in his throne than a medieval king.
Agree. These United fans don't realise they are doing more harm than good by just "supporting the team".
Unfortunately those parasites are not going to sell and if anyone can come up with the funds/capital to muster a bid together, will no doubt be priced out by them putting on a ridiculously high price on the club. I hope for a change but we won't see it. The only way they could possibly sell up is if we were to get relegated.
Maybe Ole's plan is to relegate United and get the Glazers and Woody out by the sheer force of plummeting revenue from performance-based sponsorships.

There has to be a business plan that has to financially work for the new owners and that usually means controlled spending for a little while. Especially, if this club is sold at the current valuation. We’ll be under a cloud of restrictive financial flexibility period after a sale.

The thing is, a lot of top clubs have controlled spending. Lfc, Leipzig, Dortmund, Ajax etc have controlled spending. The problem we have, there is no 'smart spending'. We need football guys making footballing decisions. We need a plan for our football team. We have no plan. No direction.
