Glazers scrap Carrington move due to cost

"Improve Carrington" translates to "we'll fix the broken tiles in the pool"
Not if we have to drain the water, it will cost too much to refill. Only the tiles on the edge will be replaced this year.

Savage's statement is structured entirely the opposite to the way it's been quoted, which changes the meaning significantly.

Yeah its always bad, but this season has been so toxic.

It's impressive how every single thing can be twisted to bash the club. This story is about Charlie complementing Reading's training ground. The End.

But at the same time it is shocking how little these shitty owners are willing to invest in the infrastructure. Carrington and OT are not up to the quality we should have

What are you basing this on? The fact Ronaldo moaned about the swimming pool? It’s just a big massive hole full of water, as long as there’s water in it, who cares if there isn’t new tiles every 2 years?

It’s clearly a 20 odd year old building that at the time was state of the art, but you can’t just knock it down and rebuild every 5 years to keep up. I’m sure it’s been upgraded over that time as well

So Uniteds training ground is as good as a state of the art, brand new £50m training ground.

Sounds ok to me, someone let me know what to get angry about here please....

The amount of ludicrous articles slating United is getting dafter by the day.

We have to use Edge at work and the homepage is filled with utter rubbish every day when I open the browser.

Agreed! The media have it easy with this fan base

So let me get this straight, there’s not enough money for half a new team to support the new manager, OT renovations and a completely new training ground?

Well let me just grab my pitch fork and we’ll skip straight to the rioting.
You don't expect that after nearly 20 years of neglect fans will get frustrated with the lack of foresight?

How many other clubs have managed to build a new stadium in that time period.

Spurs
Arsenal
West Ham
Real Madrid
Everton (24/25)
Liverpool & Crystal Palace (stadium expansion)

I'm sure there are more. It is possible with vision, planning and foresight which our owners lack. So yes, fans should be pressuring the club.

You cannot include west ham in that.

Why not include stadiums that weren't built by the clubs and ones that haven't even been built yet?
Because West Ham bought/leased whatever the Olympic stadium, the outlay for that is far less than what it would have cost them to build a stadium to that magnitude.

Apologies, I should have hinted at the sarcasm a bit more.

Comparing Utd to others and including stuff that wasn't even done by the clubs or built yet is ridiculous.

Haha! My bad :)

I think it's ok to compare it to ones that aren't built yet is fair as at least they're being built (at least in terms of Everton) - Whereas there's nothing in terms of United, I'd prefer they build a new one rather than develop the current one in all honesty.

The actual quote says something completely different in meaning to the tweet. What a load of crap.

Edge is a really good web browser, I use it out of choice both at home and at work and it’s been my preferred browser for a while. You can totally disable all that crap on your home page, and I highly suggest you do.

I'm sure there are more which I have missed off the list. Even if you remove West Ham.

Point is many clubs have invested in infrastructure and invested in the squad also. The question is how much has the club spent servicing Glazer debt since 2005? I suspect at least 1 - 1.5 billion which would've been a good chunk of an upgraded stadium and/or new training ground.

The owners are running the club into the ground and the poster I replied to is making sarcastic comments about pitchforks. It's ridiculous.

For you to not understand there are a massive number of other clubs which are building new stadiums or expanding is more ridiculous.

For you to also not understand that these type of projects take a long time to complete and we have not even laid a brick is ridiculous.

Do I have to spoon feed you a list to your liking? Nah, do some research.

Just you wait, we won't be laughing when Carrington doesn't get picked as a training base by a nation at the 2028 Euros.

Some of the complaints about United are pretty funny. I think any criticism gets justified if the team is losing. When we lose, we should have lost by more. When we draw, we should have lost. When we win, we get lucky.

These parasites wouldn't have lasted half at long as most other clubs. Fans are too afraid of taking long term action because it'll inconvenient them.

Well after the news tonight it does t look like anything will be happening at OT or Carrington in the near future.

We are fecked. Expect to see stories like on a regular basis. Glazers will ensure that the standards they’ve set remain. Depressing times.

Can you list a few specific things about Carrington that need upgrading, that will improve the first team?

So having a go a the fans, mostly the local supporter's i assume? What have fans of other clubs with bad owners done? I don't know so I'm asking..

None of us know the specifics of what’s inside carrington but have seen videos of inside city’s new training facility. It’s very impressive.

I’d hazard a guess though that we need better medical facilities

So if nobody knows any specifics why do we have so many confidently saying its not good enough.

Do you know anything about the medical department?

Probably because several former United players have in their own ways put it down?

No I don’t but my logic is that we have so many consistently injured that it can’t do any harm

We've got more injuries now than we had in the mid 90's. Do you think our medical department is worse than it was in the mid 90's. It's obviously not. It's a bit of a false logic to link the two.

The former United players consists of Neville and Ronaldo. Ronaldo's complaint was about tiles in a pool. Gary is as vague as those who complain here. Probably hasn't set foot in the place for a decade.

And yet you dismiss it just as easily. You don’t know either. But look it’s 20 years old, and to my knowledge hasn’t been invested in since. The very fact they had plans for it suggests they know it needs some

I haven't dismissed any problems. How could I? I've never been inside.

I'm questioning how are you so sure there are issues? When you say "to my knowledge" that's pretty much meaningless. You don't have any knowledge of Carrington.

For instance you say no new investment since first built. A big new building is currently being constructed right now. A new medical department was built a few years ago so all the stuff they had done at Bridgewater Hospital can now be done internally.

True but he shouldn't have been able to compare the facilities with ours is the point.

Given the state of the stadium and the general mismanagement throughout the club, is it a stretch to say that Carrington may not be where it should be?

PSG just opened a brand new training complex that looks truly world class. Carrington should be on par with this:

Man city are doing the fanzine improvements also whilst Sir Jim and the Glazers will announce 2 new burger vans outside old trafford to increase the matchday experience.

I'd be happy even if we end up with something half as good under this new proposed ownership structure

At this rate, the players may have to train at City’s training compound, which of course will only be available to them between 12-6am.
