I'd say they're referencing 'One in a million' off Lies back in 1988, a song that they never play and Axl and Slash had serious disagreements over at the time. It seemed to be a misguided attempt to be controversial/edgy by Rose.
There's no real defence of the lyrical content. It's pretty bad.
There's been some mix issues, but it's got better and better as it's gone on, also adrenaline and vocal cord warmup has made for a great show.
