Glastonbury 2011

Given that you're a muso type, didn't you fancy going, Mike?

I turned down tickets. Wish I'd gone now after Radiohead played.

Haven't decided if I'll go to any of the other festivals this year.

 They're alright, but overrated like I said. It was clear for all to see on stage today.

It's kind of too much the opposite of U2. You don't want Bono there in his leather trousers, wrap-around shades and link-up with the International Space Station... but at the same time you don't want a fat bloke with a beard and the crowd chanting for him to down a pint. Somewhere in the middle please.

Hehe, definitely a fat Northern bloke thing :smirk:

Have to say, they were fecking class when I saw them in Liverpool a couple of months ago.

You flid

I'm a fan of Coldplay and they're doing a top job so far

Music seems to have gone rapidly downhill of late. And I usually enjoy anything if it's being played live.

As we're talking music...it's two years today since Michael Jackson died :(

It's not that I hate Coldplay, it's just that I hate having to witness 100,000 punters thinking they're music gods and then, to make matters worse, the tabloids and even the broadsheets reporting it as a great show the morning after. That's what fecks me off. Nice lights on the pyramid, though. That'll help any song sound great to people who cheer when they see sunshine popping out from behind clouds.

I saw a Tweet that sums it up best. "Coldplay are like George Graham's Arsenal. Successful, effective and cheered on by idiots but above everything else boring, boring, boring."

I wouldn't mind them if I was there I don't think. They could have done with a few more proper live bands to get the energy going though. Like the Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian etc.

Nearly everything yesterday seemed to be a bit of a misery/snobby indie music fest, and that was AFTER Morissey had played on the Friday.

Beyonce tonight -I wonder if she will perform all of Boss' favourites

I just don't understand Beyonce headlining. I mean she's good at maybe, 6 o'clock, or 7. But headlining?

What's the best/easiest way to watch BBC's coverage if you're not in the UK?

I'd like to see QOTSA's set tonight if possible.

Super Hans: People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people, Jeremy

Paul Simon looks like he nailed it. Perfect music for that weather and atmosphere.

Ok, figured out how to get access to the BBC's internet coverage from outside the UK.

Pendulum have to be the worst band I've ever heard. They're just awful.

fecking awful aren't they, I liked Slam when it was first released, sounded different to the norm and then everything after it just sounded like the same tune put through a blender.

Shite.

Their crowd looks shit and they don't seem too into it. They're usually much better live than this. They also don't appear to suit performing in sunlight.

Rap and pop acts are usually fecking shite at big festivals like this.
