Give it Ole until the end of the season...

Is it? We didn't win stuff for three years under SAF.

Context matters, in different ways. Like what state the club is at when a manager arrives. Also, a European Trophy - even Europa League level - wasn't available in the second half of the 80s.

My main problem with Solskjaer isn't that he didn't win anything. It's that he didn't build anything that could at least win after his departure. It's OK not to win if you at least build yourself up towards winning. I'm not sure at all we'll be seeing any trophies in the next 2-3 years, and even if we do it will be the smaller ones (FA Cup, League Cup, non CL European trophies), but it's what we do during those years with a view forward that will matter.

That’s not his fault. By that logic SAF was a failure since we failed to win anything after him.

Like I wrote, context matters.

Solskjaer's not responsible for us not doing well after his departure, but his tenure would have looked better had he at least set us up to do well after he's gone.

He didn't win trophies or build a healthy team that could win trophies, while spending tons of money and saddling us up with problem players. That makes his tenure a waste of time as nothing came out of it.
