Giorgio Chiellini

He's really bad at acting isn't he? Awful timing, too.

Embarrassing from a player I rate highly and generally like up till recently. Refs should punish acting and cheating otherwise games are becoming a circus.

If VAR was used to cut down on diving and acting it would make the game so much better.

I wish referees would just start to give yellow cards for the stuff he does. Falls over from a little push from Morata and what is he doing in that gif?

A great defender though... really good player but annoying to watch his acting. A bit like Ramos but Chiellini is a world class defender.

Absolute leader Imperial.

This is quite a transition. I always thought he was a Puyol-like character with a strong "no nonsense" attitude. Had in mind he reacted quite well when being bitten by Suarez and handled it without the usual drama, both during and after the match.

But today he was really pathetic. Does he behave like that regularly or was this a one off?

Not a one off but it's not common either. Mandzukic was too calm so I guess he had to balance it out.

I thought it was a penalty - he definitely blocked the run more than he thought he was going to.

What would have been more interesting however is, if a dive can result in the awarding of a freekick to the other team, then why couldn't it result in a penalty? If it wasn't a foul, it was definitely a dive.

The fact that he boils so many fans piss because he's a 'cheat' makes him even better. This guy can play as well, he's easily the best in the world for me.

That doesn't make something not a foul though, does it?

No, that was more of an afterthought. I don't think it was a foul initially, but even if it was it didn't take away a goal scoring chance. Anyway, the VAR panel would have seen it and made the call if it was deemed a foul.

Yea, that's fair enough. I just think if that happens anywhere else on the pitch then a ref gives a foul for it 9 times out of 10.

He is closer to Pepe than Pyoul. Tries to kill other players while cheats as much as Neymar.

I can hear the whistle goes before the incident. At 0.01 in the Twitter Clip.

The living embodiment of a shithouse, great CB and the type of player you love if he's yours but the fans of every other team loathe. He is embarrassing when he throws himself to the floor in those square up situations though, it just looks so bad for such a big, imposing guy.

As pathetic as his play acting was, Atletico's shithousery deserved Chiellini's antics as a counter balance.

He had three separate dives thatwere so bad he was lucky not to injury himself from them. I won’t bother with the ‘I think cheating is cool’-people on here, but it really grates me when refs don’t yellow card stuff like that. Juventus were obviously deserved victors and Atletico also didn’t deserve advancement, but it angers me whe I see a referee not using the tools he is given to remove diving and time-wasting: cards and added time.

One dive is fine, get a yellow and shut up. To dive 3 times in one minute was absolutely pathetic and embarrassing. The ref was too lenient.

He seems to be diving every game in the CL nowadays, desperate to win it.
