German Football 21/22 | Gladbach sign Farke

https://www.sport1.de/news/fussball...or-lars-windhorst-stoppt-doku-uber-hertha-bsc

Since 2020 Hertha were producing their own behind the scenes "documentary", sponsored by their investor Windhorst. But it is reported now that the whole project has been scrapped, by Windhorst himself, despite putting over €1m into it already. According to one of his spokespersons it didn't meet professional standards and contains scenes where a high ranking club member violated Windhorst's honor.
Unlucky.

He really regrets his investment there, doesn't he?

Would have been more fun just literally burning all that money directly:lol:

The most baffling thing to me is that Windhorst sees himself as a serious investor, I'd really like to know what their internal assessments and strategy was, because it must have been more than just "give them €300m and see what happens!".

edit:
As I refresh Twitter after submitting this post I refresh Twitter and see this:

Bit random but are regionalliga games televised?

The 4th tier is split into 5 regional leagues that operate parallel to each other. With so many games coverage is a bit of a mess, so the answer to your question depends a lot on what team you want to follow.

It's all in German, but Kicker show who(or whether at all) someone broadcasts a game in their database:
https://www.kicker.de/regionalliga/startseite

These guys seem to cover quite a bit, but they seem to cover particular clubs and not entire leagues - and it's payTV of course.
https://www.leagues.football/

edit: taking a glance at their site it actually seems like they don't sell subscriptions themselves but create a quasi club TV.

Never even heard of it, I’m going to see if there’s a river somewhere, but wanted to ask first in case I was wasting my time anyways.
It's supposed to be free streaming of many lower league games (or was supposed to be free, now it seems to be pay per view?), check out the Regionalliga Nord Abstiegsrunde menu for any Lüneburg games. As far as I see, it's not "televised" though really but they basically just put automated cameras up.

Danke, it’s Luneberger SK hansa but I don’t see them on the list unfortunately

They play in the "Nord" division:
https://www.kicker.de/regionalliga-nord/spieltag
https://www.kicker.de/lueneburger-sk-hansa/spielplan/regionalliga-nord/2021-22

Tomorrow at 14:00 CET against Altona, but Kicker haven't listed a broadcaster for that match.

However the game is actually listed on the leagues.football site through their partnership with Altona, so there is a stream:
https://www.leagues.football/afc
It's of course pay TV and they want 5€ for a day pass.

There's the Bayern I imagined struggling against RB Salzburg again. We really should have won today though, ridiculous how our players couldn't stay onside all game.

Fun fact, our xG today was higher (3,42) than in the 7:1 against Salzburg

And I assume that doesn't even include the offside goals.

"You're fielding 8 defensive players, is that a reaction to the 1:4 in the last game"?
"No, we also got 2 strikers"

And in goal they are playing a young lad, who already agreed a free transfer to Dortmund's second team (unclear whether he will be first choice) for the summer

A gentle reminder to tune in for the upcoming true game of the week, a feast for fans of amateurish mistakes and random goals: Gladbach vs. Hertha!

Thse two clubs have managed to be the 17th and 18th best German teams in the Bundesliga over the past 13 matchdays so some might expect them to be evenly matched. I still expect this to be a comfortable win for the home team.

As for Hertha, anything is possible of course: another conceded penalty, a red card, maybe an own goal (haven't had that for a while), 5 promising minutes that will lead Bobic to believe that Korkut deserves another chance, another round of investor vs. board...and apparently the ghost of Marvin Plattenhardt is set to make an appearance today. Fun times!

Here we go

The nicest thing I could say is that Hertha looks like Bayern against Gladbach...

The crazy thing is that Hertha lined up with 8 defensive players, but Gladbach still don't have a lot of problems advancing the ball. The good thing from Hertha's perspective is that Gladbach can't keep a clean sheet to safe their lives either. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose their grip on the game as this half goes on and concede shortly before the break.

Yeah, that's been a recurring theme during Korkut's reign. The defensive spacing is completely off, regardless of who's on the pitch.
Not sure who you expect to score for Hertha when they rely on someone like Darida providing chances for Selke/Belfodil. Maybe they get lucky after a set piece or someone off the bench adds some more firepower but it's more likely the goals will happen on the other end of the pitch.

I wrote this more because I trust Gladbach's ability to concede rather than Hertha's ability to score. But it's looking like you're correct.

How is that not a penalty though?

Did he touch him though? It kinda looked like he sorta slid past him.
Kempf has been horrible...when Stuttgart basically gave him away for free I was puzzled at them helping out a direct rival but it looks like they knew exactly what they were doing.

I thought he slid into Thuram's heels. Nothing intentional, but I'm not sure that should protect him.

On another note, if Heidenheim somehow manages to catch Werder we could be looking at the most epic 2. Bundesliga of all time: Hertha, Stuttgart, Bremen, Nürnberg, Schalke, HSV, Hannover, Düsseldorf, Kaiserslautern, 1860 München + a potential east German reunion of Rostock, Magdeburg and Dresden.

David Wagner is fresh out of a job. Do it, Hertha!

There are already "insiders" in forums claiming that he's the chosen one. And to be honest he probably wouldn't be an unrealistic option. I mean why would anyone with an intact reputation take this job?

And also: Why would Hertha hire someone who isn't part of the shit manager circlejerk that keeps going round and round? It's unthinkable! The writing's on the wall.

Windhorst seems chatty today:

A good point. What's Christian Gross doing these days?

Wirtz... :(

Also whats up with the jerseys? Cologne in black Leverkusen in white?

Looked like an ACL to me. The one thing that shouldn't happen. Most bitter moment of the entire season so far. Just hope he can start fully fit into 22/23. Sometimes football really, really sucks

I can see that Azmoun has already settled in at Leverkusen.

unlucky day:

I don't know what's more comical: this starting lineup or the fact that Brandt was benched by these guys?

Heartbroken, still feels surreal to have witnessed this today. Just hope Florian can fully recover, no matter how long it takes. He´s 18, he´s the biggest german talent in ages, he deserves to have a long, succesful career.

I think this might be the first real "underdog win" Baumgart got with Cologne? Usually they are quite good at getting points against teams on a similar level to their own, while against the big teams you can usually sum it up as "ah they played well, was a nice open game, still lost it".
