German Football 21/22 | Gladbach sign Farke

To be fair he isn't that bad as a pundit (not great either). That said as it is well known that his relationship to Bayern is broken beyond repair no one should be surprised at the reaction.

Why should Salihamidzic care what a guy says who "would not even get a job as greenkeeper at Bayern" as Hoeneß famously announced?
Fjorthoft is just a carefree attention seeker and WUM. The relation between Brazzo and Lothar isn't even antagonistic.

You're laughing now, but next year it will be your beloved Sülinho who is suffering.

We'll be laughing then, too. Owning up his own stupidity and all that. We'll be laughing even more if Rose is still there come August.

I almost had a clash with Türkgücü München today.

Their team bus cut in my lane on the A9, the lousy fecker :nono:

Any fan from any team would be dumb if they want a rival team to do good internationally just so the reputation of the league gets better.

I doubt United fans are happy that Liverpool and City are doing great in Europe, while United doesn't challenge for any title.
I'm pretty sure you would rather have a situation like in the 90s, where EPL was behind Italy, Spain, Germany, and France in UEFA coefficient (because Leeds, Newcastle, and Blackburn were constantly getting spanked in Europe), but United was winning most of domestical trophies.

At the end of the day, nobody in real life cares about the reputation of a league, it's mostly an internet banter.
Your right in the sense that on the rare occasion City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc get embarrassed i love it irregardless of how United are doing. I know it is generally internet banter but it does wind me up sometimes when typically Premier League fans make assumptions about foreign leagues when it's highly doubtful most of them even watch any matches outside the Premier League. I'm not German or even a fan of a German team but i do watch a match or two when i can and i do enjoy the Bundesliga so i don't like it when people go open season on them, but i'm quite thin skinned so maybe others can take it better.

But a side point about the mocking of Dortmund and the Bundesliga right now, a few weeks ago Celtic thrashed Rangers in the SPL and Celtic just lost 3-1 at home to Bodo/Glimt who are in pre season in Norway. Does that mean Bodo/Glimt would thrash Rangers and Dortmund? No because football doesn't work like that so i get annoyed when people use 1 result to confirm a pre conceived notion about a league.

Rose definitely hasn't impressed this season, but it would be too easy to blame it all on him, the squad isn't built well this season and injuries are making things worse still. If there was an exciting candidate on the market I could see him sacked, but since there isn't I expect him to survive the summer, assuming that things don't go into a full blown meltdown from here.

Aaah... not matter how annoying your own team is.. Leverkusen always find a way to cheer you up

They never disappoint, do they?

So Mainz keeps the fight for Europe a tight battle...

To be fair I think Mainz were simply the better team and didn't even have to take up Hradecky on his attempts to throw the game. So not much of a bottle job in the end.

Maybe a Dortmund fan shouldn´t be showing that much Schadenfreude right now. Not good timing.

Besides, we won the last 4 games in the league, scored 14 in the last three. Not unusual to lose a game of football again, especially against Mainz away, one of the strongest teams at home this season. We couldn´t match their intensity for 90 minutes and our backline is a real liability, even more so since Tapsoba is back. Horrible form from him.

Refereeing decisions were bizarre to say the least by the way. Demirbay with the cleanest of tackles before the freekick that lead to the first Mainz goal and I have no clue why their second goal got ruled out for offside. Many other smaller mistakes as well from Cortus.

No, it’s still funny.

What's the matter? Mainz looks like this every other week and they were the only serious opponent we faced all year ;)

It's easy to laught about Stuttgart, but how funny would it be if Augsburg get relegated after near doubling their transfer record for a 0 G/A striker, because they wanted to attack the US market?

We can drive that bus to Dortmund every year if we always score 5 goals afterwards.

Is 5 goals in Dortmund something akin to Wenger's fourth place trophy?

Freiburg in top 4 is really something. They have struggled since the winter break but they are in the mix for CL

What happened to VfB anyway? I haven't really watched them this season, but last season they seemed to have an exciting young team, a good coach and plenty of promising players. And they haven't really lost any important players bar Kobel and González, but the latter pretty much missed half of last season anyway and I doubt their problems this season are down to losing their goalkeeper. So what are the reasons? Young players being inconsistent? Silas missing due to injuries?

Kalajdzic and Silas - arguably their two star attackers last year, Sosa connecting with Kaladzjic has been a dominant theme for them in gerenal - have been non-factors, mostly due to long term injuries, while Coulibaly hasn't really stepped up. Their best scorer is Mavropanos on four goals. To make things worse I remember reading a stat that they keep conceding right after scoring with an alarming rate. When I watch them they usually don't look that hopeless, but when you struggle to score goals and then make it a habit to throw away leads/draws in record time it's no surprise you're in deep trouble.
I have also read accusations that Matarazzo has failed to adjust his tactics to the fact that so much attacking quality is currently missing compared to successful earlier season, but I don't really have an opinion myself on whether that is true or not.

Actually we scored six. Don't forget Frimpong heroically saved us from conceding a goal by Thomas fecking Meunier. I mean, as a Leverkusen fan I've been through much but that really would've been too embarassing to handle.

Modeste did it again

Köln stays in the mix for Europe, Frankfurt need to start a good run again if they want to get in touch to that group again.

Massive win for us in St Pauli  . Seems more and more likely that we stay in the league while the promotion race gets very tight now.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems like there's some stabilizing element missing from Bayern's defense. Luckily for them it's only Fürth and not an elite attacking team like say... ....Rangers.

Nagelsmann is fecking clueless

head through the wall approach is the only tactics he's got

playing like teams chasing a lead do from minute 85, only from minute 1

Now he takes off the only player who provided attacking impetus wide - Richards, who did fine - to crowd the middle more with Choupo-Moting. He's losing the plot big time.

edit

never mind :lol::drool:

Bayern was never going to lose this, but did I hear this correctly: no last placed team has won an away game against the first placed team since the 60s?!

Just checked the Dortmund team and Bet365 have Bellingham listed as CB....I presume it's Can instead if they're playing 3-4-3.

You're right. Not watching the match, but kicker shows this formation with Bellingham in midfield (3421): Kobel - Can, Hummels, Zagadou - Hazard, Dahoud, Bellingham, Guerrero - Reyna, Reus - Malen

That's correct...Köln lost to Saarbrücken in the very first Bundesliga season. There have been a few more matches where the last placed team beat the leaders, but they were always playing at home.

Gladbach made Dortmund look like prime Freiburg.

And now Leipzig will feast on Hertha....Berlin is without 8 players due to a corona outbreak and even when they were at full strength they lost 6:0 in Leipzig earlier this season.
