German Football 21/22 | Gladbach sign Farke

You have to admit: it's a curious timing Sülinho announces his transfer and in the next Kicker edition there's a "leak" that he managed to put on 4 kgs over a 10(?!) day Christmas break and it also happened that at the same time friends of his told Kicker that he told them he's fully committed to the burger way of life, that he has no intention to live professionally and that he's made enough money for a lifetime already. I mean what's next? A Bild exclusive that he eats Baby seals to maximize his fat intake? This smear campaign against Germany's most beloved player has to stop!
Yeah, it is. I guess someone at Bayern wants to make their decisions look better. That's not to say the questions about Süle's professionalism are invalid or new, even.

So... the glorious 1.Fc Köln will open the matchday with their game against the Dosen ( tins ) ( ( nickname in Germany for RB Leipzig ). A win would be another important step towards the Euro places.
However, I fear that FC Köln is not structured well enough for a double-burden, just like last season with the European League, they will have to fight to survive in the Bundesliga again.
You are in for a huge rebuild anyways, as you are financially struggling and have quite a lot of (expensive) contracts ending after this season, aren't you?

I get that they want to spin the narrative, everyone does that. But it's just so over the top, transparent and vindictive. It was the same when Alaba dared to turn down their contract offer after 13 years at the club and the "leaks" about how he was such a horribly greedy person started.

Seems like someone's having a problem with whistleblowers, and free press in general. Your smear campaign against such beacons of liberty shall not be tolerated. The sad, yet calory-rich truth about Bigmaclas Süle cannot be suppressed.

He certainly didn't help himself by spicing up his announcement with his whiny claims about a lack of appreciation. God, I wish my boss would show me his lack of appreciation by offering just 10m/yr.
While it's certainly disappointing that some people in our club felt the need to fall on Süle's level by leaking that info, it's still not untrue.
And don't get me started on Alaba. That bloke kept lying through his teeth for a full year, in order to run down his contract without having to announce it beforehand, so he wouldn't fall down the pecking order.

I mean considering the guy, who was CEO for the longest time says stuff like this:

You can see where his complaint was coming from. And you think Alaba had to lie, because the coach, who ended up leaving the club with him last summer, would have dropped him otherwise? That doesn't sound particularly likely to me.

I don't think the regular season in American sports (NBA/NHL..) is seen as irrelevant.
From a Bayern point of view it currently would be. They are so far ahead that it is basically unthinkable that they don't secure a top 4 finish.

For the rest of the league it would be more interesting as it is far easier to beat Bayern in one game than over the whole season.

Struth's (the agent of Süle and Kroos) journey through the talkshows was not positive in the whole Süle saga either.

Maybe, but if other teams were to win the league more often, it would certainly increase the competitiveness.

Making the league more interesting for neutrals from around the world, and potentially increasing the financial income. Which would still benefit Bayern -and everyone else- on the long run.

The whole "They don't appreciate me enough" thing was going through the press for a while before that. As for Alaba, once it is clear that you're gone next season, you're a lame duck, when it gets to hierachy. No, you're not getting dropped in an instant, but when you're sudden with your competitor...

For the rest of the league it would be more interesting as it is far easier to beat Bayern in one game than over the whole season.

Assuming that these are actually played as one off games. that is.

Who needs central midfielders...

FLZj2sWWUAEQCgi

4 central defenders - 4 offensive mids/wingers - Lewy, Kimmich and Ulreich...

Lewandowski's ball control is absolutely superhuman.

Give him any super awkward ball at any uncomfortable height, he controls it and gets a shot away somehow within a second. Impeccable technique.

No other striker in the world would have got that shot away.

Bayern should try their level best to extend his contract which expires in 2023

I used to say you could throw a stone at him and he'd pluck it down and control it. Since Bayern usually play with a very methodical possession approach it's maybe a bit underrated as a quality, but while he was still playing for Klopp at Dortmund Hummels playing longballs to Lewandowski was ridiculously effective for how simple an attack it was.

Bochum leading Bayern 3-1!!!

#freeSülinho from this suffering, he deserves better!

Wow! What a fantastic goal from Bochum against Bayern!

fecking Sky.. I just want to watch the simulcast and for some reason they always cut to Bochum..

Not only United. Bayern too and worse we got 3 in the bench.
This match is on Nagelsmann. Totally unbalanced team

I guess the 2-1 could be put down to tactics, but the 1-1 was all on Upamecano, maybe the 4-1 to an extend as well. But in general the 3-1 and 4-1 were just beautiful goals that were more Bochum's brilliance than Bayern's fault.

I really like to make fun of them lot, but with how things are going on the home turf , I don't think I have the will for it . :(

Agree first goal Upamecano and also Süle who gives the Bochum player way too much space.
The last 2 goals were brilliant strikes but still I believe with at least central midfielders they don't even get the opportunity to shoot from there.

Bochum are a mix of Paderbon 150mph per hour attacking and Union Berlin fearless football. Love that teams are coming up from the 2nd division and not being scared to play anymore.

As I despise Wolfsburg I don't like writing this, but can we just take a moment to appreciate how Max Kruse has a massive impact on every club he signs for? They were just losing and losing, and now just won the two games after they signed him. And this just happened at every team he played for, be it Bremen, Union Berlin or now Wolfsburg. I feel like the discussions about him as a person often leads to people denying him the respect he deserves for his skills on the pitch.

Even the discussions about him as a person are flat out rubbish. He forgot some cash in a taxi and deleted a picture of him taken by a journalist without his consent. Not his fault that the German public is as dull as Löw or Merkel. Great guy.

Some nice results today giving me flashbacks to better times.

I'd say that, aside from a few months when Wolfsburg/Löw kicked him out, Kruse was always quite highly rated. I mean in his first season in Bremen he recorded around 1 G/A per 90. I think in a way it was smart of him that he didn't try to join any big clubs after Wolfsburg and rather joined clubs that would be willing to put up with his lifestyle as long as he did his thing on the pitch.

I think he was also caught in a shisha joint during the first Corona winter, while everyone was desperate to project as much caution and responsible behaviour as possible, to keep the league from being shut down again. And I recall Kohfeldt once saying something along the lines he'd rather not ask how Kruse spends his evenings as long as he shows up for training in the morning. I think it's fair to say that he's a bit unprofessional and wasted his chance at a big career. Because the talent is definitely there.

What a beautiful little spin from Mangala. There's been some really nice goals today.

edit: Adli's header was quite pretty as well

What a crazy end to the Leverkusen game
Schick is quality.

Buying Upamecano for €40m might turn out to be a bigger waste of money for Bayern than buying Tolisso for €40m
