German Football 20/21

Mainz up 1:0 and the Bayern CBs continue to be an embarrassment. Pathetic effort from Boateng.

Tolisso is not a bad player but I'm at the point where I wish we sell him and buy another top central midfielder. We have a problem in midfield when he's supposed to be the in-house Thiago replacement. It is a decisive step down in quality.

Isn't Kimmich meant to give you that, with Tolisso playing the box to box role?

Bayern now have to come back from 2 goals down in the 2nd half

Serious teams in the CL will punish this defense

Boateng not covering himself in glory, and surely the fact the other CB is negotiating with like 5 other clubs at the moment isn't helpful either.

But I maintain that our problem is in midfield. If we are going to play a high line at the half way line we can't blame our central defenders if we keep allowing counters and passes in between the lines. Balance is not right at the moment.

Lazio are going to punish Bayern in the UCL, they're the perfect team to sit deep and counter attack.

Oh please, we will have no trouble with Lazio. Bundesliga games have been tougher than CL games for the last one and a half seasons.

Somehow it looks like Bayern aren't allowed to score before they are at least 1 goal behind.
8 games in a row behind. Also a new record, not one to be proud of though.

Jesus fecking Christ

this would get me banned in Serie A

Mainz hitting the post twice, own goal, VAR making a ghost offside call, tons of chances on both sides, what is even going on in this game

What a game. Impressive first half by Mainz but a very good response by Bayern in the second half.

Wild game, awesome comeback.

But let's not forget that we needed an absolute world class Neuer performance to even keep us in the game, against the second from the bottom team.

Why was the own goal ruled out? And how could VAR miss the foul on Kimmich in extra time? That's a stone wall penalty.
Not that it matters but if this happened at 2:2 it would have been different.

Davies was offside in the buildup to the own goal and yes, the foul on Kimmich was a stone wall penalty. No idea why there was no VAR check. Yes, it was 5:2 and yes it was in extra time but that surely cannot be an excuse

clearest handball penalty I've seen in my life, what's there to think about

BT commentator claims he's 'flabbergasted' that it's given :wenger:

But then it's the same guy who claimed that Boateng 'never had any pace' last game

What a weird handball.
Yay, a match where we do not fall behind first!

Might have been a fingertip touch, but it was still a penalty because there was clear touch and it seemed intentional from his hand movement as well.

Thinking about it again, really harsh maybe because it didn't impact the ball at well.

I've missed the first half hour, has the game been as one-sided as the score line suggests?

Gladbach could actually drop down to 10th place

Lovely move by Gladbach, Stindl with a great pass. Sule just sleeping on Hoffmanns run.

1-2 now.

Can't believe how easy it continues to be to get great scoring chances against us in transition.

And it's not a problem of our CB personell, it's a problem of the defensive organization when facing a transition. We can't play that high a line and then everything is open once we lose the ball, especially since we lose loads of balls this season.

Not just the pass, the cleverness to step on the ball and wait for the perfect moment as well. He's been really stepping it up lately.
