Geovany Quenda - Summer 2025

Definitely looks a talent and wing back is probably our 3rd priority position (after ST and CM).

I do feel as though the team in a couple years might be good again - it’s the here and now which is deeply concerning

Will we pull the plug on this if Amorim gets sacked at the end of the season? Feels like the money could be better spent elsewhere if our next manager doesn't use wing backs.

Sporting's current manager isn't using wing-backs and Quenda is playing as a winger. The same thing would happen here, if Amorim were to be sacked.

Friend of mine went to Lisbon this weekend to watch Sporting play live - says he looks like an absolute speed demon, but seemed loose atdecision making and temperament.

To be fair, he was shocked when I told him he was only 17.

I like the idea of Quenda as he can play WB or in one of the attacking positions. Having Dorgu, Quenda, Amad and the new South American kid (name evades me) gives us lots of flexibility

Do we need more youngsters really? Especially extremely expensive ones.

Would prefer someone a bit older, more experienced and established. The average age of the squad is quite young at about 24 (not including players like Heaton, Evans and Eriksen who are as good as gone).

In which case, that would seem like an unnecessary transfer when we already have Garnacho and Amad as our wingers. There are other positions that need resolving more urgently.

That’s because they’re building for a title challenge in 2028 when Quenda will be 21. That’s Berradas goal. Likes of Dorgu, Garnacho, Kobbie will be coming in to their peaks.

I really don't know how you can watch us this season and argue that those 2 would be enough for an entire season.

I think if we’re honest, and as much as I love Amad in particular, if we want to be challenging for titles, they’re probably both subs to better starting players. Wouldn’t see either making any of our starting lineups in our league winning era.

If we don't fix the current squad NOW, we will end up in table midfield forever (and that's optimistically said).

I think that's nuts. Amad is a really, really special player.

I love Amad and he's our most dangerous player but but do you see him as being better than prime Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo or Giggs, Beckham or Salah, Mane. That's the calibre of player that wins leagues. I think Amad would need to be the worst player in any attack that we have that would challenge for a league title as he's a few levels below those. I don't even think that's shade on Amad.

It's his first PL season. And yes, his potential is every bit as much as a Mane or Tevez even if the style is different. Comparing him to the rest is stupid, as all of those names are genuine all timers at their positions.

It's not stupid. That's my exact point. Majority of teams that have won Premier Leagues have 2/3 attackers that will be PL all-time level or at least better than Amad is now. Arsenal have struggled to get it over the line because they have one in that category.

Tevez and Mane both have multiple 20 goal seasons and Mane since turning 20 has never scored fewer goals than Amad's current tally.

Mane's first 3 seasons in the PL (at Amad's age now) he had 13, 17, and 18 G+A total. Amad has 12 (in a far worse attacking outfit) and is now out for the season.

You're strangely underrating how good Amad has actually been in his first real season in the squad, in what has been an abysmal team where he's had to shoulder much of any attacking thrust.

Just saying "we need all timer level players" is great to say as a generality but it's not exactly an exact science unless you're buying a Ronaldo or Rooney type teen super talent and trusting them to develop.

I think that's nuts. Amad is a really, really special player.

Until we get at least one full Premier League season I don't think we can declare anyone special. That would be the kind of mistake we made in the past.

We need at least one wingback we can count on as a definite. Someone we know we're going to get top performances from. Quenda,Amad and Dorgu aren't there yet.

Not all players are teenage prodigies and of course his current version is levels below those in their prime. You mentioned Salah - at Amad’s current age he was getting loaned out to Fiorentina over the winter break, was loaned to Roma the next season and eventually sold to them the next summer at 24. I doubt many people would be lining up to take the objective position, without the benefit of current hindsight, that Salah looked a better talent at 22 than Amad. We can only hope he has a similar trajectory, but the talent is certainly there IMO for him to be of that caliber in 3-4 years when entering his prime.

I really don't know how you can watch us this season and argue that a new centre forward and a new keeper shouldn't be prioritised ahead of a RW (if we were to switch to a back 4). I can't imagine we'll have the money for all 3 including Quenda.

Thankfully I didn't say that. One striker is not nearly enough to fix our misfiring attack, especially if we miss out on Gyökeres and Osimhen and we need 2 central midfielders before we need a new GK. Also, Quenda is mainly playing on the left, since Amorim has left.

Okay well considering PSR restrictions I don't see how we can afford 2 strikers, 2 CMs and a new GK whilst also spending 40m on Quenda. For me, he shouldn't be a priority.

Yeah, we’re wholly dependent on quite a few sales I’d assume, to raise anything substantial enough to try and address as many problem areas as possible. CM, LAM, GK, CF & RWB - all starters needed.

Doubt we’re getting a CF (let alone 2!) or GK without selling our current options. But yeah, too many holes, too little money.

*I don’t even want to think about the LCB position right now

This is being overplayed, we have shited quite a few high earners and we will shift more likely this summer. I think we'll be fine

Apparently Ben Jacobs says a deal has been agreed with the player and the negotiations are ongoing with the club. I'll share the interview in a bit. It'll be on the United view.
Same guy that reckoned the Saudis wanted Casemiro in January? Doesn't have a clue.
