More midfielders

Manchester United have joined the race for Geoffrey Kondogbia after making an approach to Sevilla to discuss a transfer.
Kondogbia, 20, only moved to Sevilla from French side Lens last summer, but has earned a reputation as one of the finest young midfielders around.
And despite the player admitting his preference would be to join Chelsea if he moves to England, United manager David Moyes has made an approach to discuss a deal.
According to local paper Diario de Sevilla, the negotiations were ‘positive’ and a transfer is very much on the cards.
Arsenal, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Napoli are also interested in Kondogbia, but his reported £15million price tag has put off most of the interested parties.
However, it is thought that United believe they can get the midfield enforcer for around £8million, and would even consider allowing him to spend next season on loan at Sevilla to maintain his progress.
The cash-strapped club are keen to move on more players to raise funds, and have already sold Jesus Navas to Manchester City while Alvaro Negredo appears to be next out of the exit door.
Kondogbia would add much-needed steel to United’s midfield, and has been compared to Patrick Vieira in recent months.

feck you.

Thank Christ we're finally being linked to him, he's been very impressive this year for Sevilla. He's an absolute unit.

I've never seen him play but maybe he is seen as a cheaper option than Strootman with a higher ceiling? As from the bits I've read he sounds more defensive so he wouldn't be an alternative to Thiago.

He is playing for france in the U-20 world cup in a midfield with Pogba.

If you fancy seeing him I think he may even be playing soon.

He's a top talent. Performed a lot better than Pogba so far in the U20s.

Muppet video.

It pretty much runs out of clips to show for the last 40 seconds, he a fecking giant though.

Has long been linked with Madrid this season. Have seen him a couple of times for Sevilla, very physical with decent ability on the ball and passing. Typical DM of his type

Arsenal are apparently keen on him too. I'd prefer him to Fellaini and Strootman. He'll be cheaper, he's very powerful and is good on the ball too. In fairness, I haven't seen Strootman apart from 2 games at the U21s, but I think Kondogbia would give us some steel in midfield and we can develop his all round game too. If he's available, I'd hope we are in for him.

Ryan Giggs talks with player to convince him to move to Manchester United this summer, according to Italian reports

A lot seems to go on when players leave for international tournaments. After Thiago Alcantara’s future being seemingly decided during the U21 European Championships, it is now the turn of Sevilla’s Geoffrey Kondogbia, currently on duty at the U20 World Cup with France.
Like most young French wunderkinds, Kondogbia has been linked with a long list of important European clubs, such as Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Manchester United.
This morning, the Metro ran a story stating that Manchester United had opened talks with the young Frenchman over a possible move from Sevilla to the North of England. They state their source as being local newspaper “Diario de Sevilla”, but with nothing on the Spanish website and a little help from Twitter, it came to our attention that it was actually Estadio Deportivo who ran the story 2 days ago, citing Calciomercato.com as their source.
The Calciomercato article states that, according to their sources, Kondogbia is in advanced talks with Manchester United, a team in desperate need of a new midfielder.
With the youngster impressing greatly (1 goal and 2 assists) so far in the tournament and with Ryan Giggs reportedly in Turkey (where the U20 World Cup is currently being held) to complete his UEFA badges, Calciomercato are suggesting that, still according to their sources, Giggs met with Kondogbia after watching him in France’s first two games vs Ghana and the USA. The pair talked and the young defensive midfielder expressed his willingness in moving to the Premier League champions.
There is one problem Manchester United need to overcome if indeed they are interested in the player, and that is ownership issues. On June 6th, we wrote an article on this based on information from Le10 Sport stating: “Geoffrey Kondogbia, although still under contract with Sevilla until 2017, is now fully owned by a private fund named Doyen Sports. The company, as described on its website, is “a private fund dedicated, amongst other activities, to providing an important and growing alternative source of financing for football clubs and football PLCs” and provides services such as wealth management, player representations, asset lending, and investments amongst others. Le10 are stating that the company played a big part in funding Kondogbia’s move from Lens to Seville last summer but that Sevilla are yet to pay back any of the money lent to them by the company.”
Doyen Sports confirm that Geoffrey Kondogbia is part of their stable on their website.
This means that Manchester United would have to deal with Doyen Sports directly, instead of Sevilla, if they were to make an offer. Manchester United are not entirely unfamiliar with third parties getting involved in transfers, with the Tevez/MSI & Just Sports Inc problems from 2007, when trying to acquire the player from West Ham United.

If Manchester United really do want to sign Kondogbia, they will have to be very careful not to end up in the same mess.

Giggs could have talked to him about anything and people assume its to sign him. Can't see us entangling ourselves in a third-party ownership saga personally.

The new Patrick Viera, eh? A novel and imaginative comparison. I'm in.

He looks like a big fecking unit. Do we do big fecking units in midfield? I've always seen us as a fecking hard bastard in midfield sort of side, not a big fecking unit in midfield sort of side. Maybe a big fecking unit in midfield is what we are missing?

He's a more athletic version of Pogba, and a handful of teams are interested, including us

Arsenal were linked a few weeks ago, and apparently Real are too.

I agree. Even just his face. Look at the size of his massive fecking face.

I don't see why a big fecking unit can't also be a fecking hard bastard as well. I'd like to see it.

For a moment I thought i'd made both these posts.

Nah, I don't get jokes...:(
Hectic just asked me do I ever post without swearing, I then came in here and saw those two posts littered with swear words and joked that I thought i'd made them both, since all I do is swear.

It's lost any effect it might ever have had now that i've explained it.

Every time I read a story with us being linked with some young player, who most in the general public have not heard about, they tend to be "hottest young players in Europe" or "finest young XXXXposition players".

So is he really one of the finest young midfielder's in Europe? Or is that just added so they can say the big clubs are looking at him?
