Gary Neville

I don't see the point anymore of focusing on the 900 or something that has been spent. We know we can't get rid of Woodword and we can't force the club to hire a DoF. Big mistakes were made but since Ole is here we did well in the transfer market, if maybe not enough. If he'd focus on the new additions he would have positive things to say, but i guess it doesn't fit the narrative.

Gary Neville seemed to have no idea of how injuries work yesterday. Continued to bang on about what we’ve spent in 6 years, ignoring that like £200m of what we had bought were crucially out injured, and another £150m we just spent were on the pitch and are players he has continually stated he ‘liked’.

I mean, we are in a bad way, but he kept speaking as if the XI yesterday is the best we can do, when it obviously isn’t. We have a lot more quality unavailable. Nobody in the studio mentioned that we are missing Pogba, Martial Shaw. Pogba is out, yet they keep saying we need a player who can pass forward. We have one of the best at it, he was injured.

Said he wasn’t making the right runs, criticised his movement, accused him of not working hard enough, then working hard when he didn’t need to. Said he was messing up a golden opportunity to establish himself as our main striker. Basically sustained criticism the whole time he was on the pitch. Brutal but fair.

He was absolutely right

Gary Neville had better address the Glazers situation than rant for more than half an hour about our team/manager.

He's become a lackey.

And the point he was making has gone completely over your head. He was saying we have spent 900m and what have we got to show for it. yes we have injuries to £200m of players but the problem is we don't have the quality to slot in and replace those players. Neville is bang on the money that we have paid out outrageous sums of money but as a squad we are in the shitter and this is evidenced by not having quality replacements for when players are injured.

Ole (anyone would be suffering) is suffering for the balls up the club has made with the previous 3 managers.

That was said 1000 times and a couple of hundred times by Neville himself, so what's the point to keep beating a dead horse like that? We've made some bad and expensive signings and we are already in the process of getting rid of them while having made good signings this summer. Just move on or say something else of substance.

Oh yes, because if Jose was the manager he would be blamed for any young players inconsistencies.

And you would be shitting on the players.

Ole not being good enough doesn't mean Jose was. 2 managers weren't good enough just like how Van Gaal and Moyes weren't. We are in amazing form picking up wrong managers. 3 of them are not enough, 1 wasn't good enough and was a toxic cnut.

No actually I was clear Rashford was not good enough up front and he should only play on the left. These players have always had limitations but our fans were seriously deluded.

I just dont understand what people expect from him or other ex players who are United fans, so they say at least. Him as a player and this version couldnt be more different, when it comes to United. He has his own interests, angles etc.

It's always funny when you call someone or set of fans deluded

I was responding back to a specific post based on the poster's statement. I was not aware that my comment's had to be run by you and that even though it is a public forum that only your opinion counts. NOTE to self check-in with jackal&hyde from now on before I post to ensure that I am saying something of substance. (for someone that has joined only 18months ago and to post a comment like you have christ you would have been in the funny farm by now if you were a member for any significant length of time)

I was referring to Neville and pundits in general that keep on talking about the same thing over and over again and how i personally don't see the point of beating a dead horse. Your victimization post is funny though, i'll give you that

What’s the point of saying we’ve spent 900mill since 2013? Some of that money has been spent replacing players we bought with that £900mill????

We bought Di Maria, were forced to sell him and bought Depay.....then sold him.

It lacks the context of where we were in 2013, the context of the transfer market, changes in management, it’s just throwing a number around.

We did the right thing getting rid of all the players we got rid of in the summer.....we just didn’t sign enough players which again isn’t shown up when you say £900mill. Anyone who didn’t know this would be a difficult season when the window closed, needs to take their red blinkers off.

Neville’s off again making sensationalised irrational quotes the media can lap up. Nice one Gary

Don’t know why some posters want him to be given a medal for criticising Rashford, he’s meant to be unbiased, that’s his job.

But that’s the point isn’t it? If the £900m wasn’t spent so badly then we wouldn’t have had to replace so many of the players we’ve signed. To have the squad we have after all that is criminal. The only thing he should’ve done was specifically mention the man responsible for it.

Just because He criticized Rashford doesn't mean He's neutral. Okay, He criticized an under performing player, fair. Did He mention anything about how We lacked a game plan or our points total since the PSG game?

He has liked in twitter 2 articles calling out Woodward / club structure. Can't paste the screen shots. But he liked these two.

Perhaps the tide is turning a little bit with ex players throwing a light on Woodward, with evras post and maybe Gary Neville will say something too.

He's been criticizing the board for years. Called out Ed Woodward last year when Mourinho was rumoured to be sacked after the Newcastle game.

What is Neville actually liking in that article? He was just arguing with fans on that show that the club had taken the right approach in the summer. His buddy lands in hot water and it's time to abandon that position

I do wonder why people don't understand this very obvious point, and the players you mention, plus Lukaku has come back into the coffers.
Obviously to be misspent again, but still.

City leading 1-0.

Neville: "You've got a feeling the next goal will make it 2-0 or 1-1"

Everton score.

Neville: "I told you so"

Why is Neville laughing through this performance? When asked what he thought just before we scored, he thinks Ole will be 'happy with what he's seen'?

This is without doubt, one of the worst matches I've ever seen and Neville is subdued and indifferent to what he's seeing. Is it because of his mate Ole?

He normally would tear this performance to pieces wouldn't he? Rashford starting unfit playing shocking with Greenwood on the bench? Not a peep...

I don't care that we scored, the point still stands. It's really weird.

His defence of Lingard is an odd one. Neville’s essentially absolving him of all personal responsibility for form because he believes he should be a squad player within a better squad. It doesn’t really work like that. We’re talking about a bloke that has been in the first team for the best part of three years and has several international caps.

The mindset is essentially: I’ll stick it to the likes of Pogba because he’s, you know, actually a good player, but Lingard and Young get a free pass because they’re not meant to be good

Bollocks, really.

Squad players forced to start because the rich guy ahead of them can't or won't run anymore, or is injured, shouldn't be held to the standards of world stars like Pogba. What's the point of pointing out Lingard is limited at the top of the game? I'm sure his own mother would agree.

Why would you give the benefit of the doubt to rubbish like Lingard who are never going to be good enough, whilst jumping on the smallest things that your best player does and never giving him the same benefit of the doubt?

That's a weird mentality to have in my opinion.

Pogba criticism is meat and mead to a journalist, I expect he's required to do it! Don't get me wrong, I don't care for Neville as a journalist, you'd think he played for Liverpool if you only went by his work in journalism.

The problem happens when the fan base believes the words of the sensationalist 'journalist' Neville because as a former legend his words hold a lot of weight and start attacking Pogba because of it.

Another example of lower standards. Which is a disgrace considering it comes from someone who played for us.

Neville is now the opposite of a homer. What exactly is he trying to gain? He is surely tainting his United status with his unbalanced views.

Lingard isn’t a squad player. He’s been starting massive matches for club and country for three or four years now. You can’t just give him a free pass to play like a dickhead.

Now tearing into Fred and casually adding £10m on his price tag

He's a total wanker.

It's because Jesse is English. He would never say anything close to what he said about Fred if he's talking about Lingard

On Fred “you you buy someone for £60m quid (he was actually £52m), you expect them to be really good!”

Most would say it’s stating the bloody obvious on Fred. But he’s 100% right. Poor player.
