He was saying last week if we sign Kane we can get it 90-95 points (which would win the league most probably). We sign somebody better than Kane and now he doesn’t think we can challenge. I disagree with his initial assertion but his logic is odd at times.

It is that I can't argue with. But his logic is RedCafe like in the way he doesn't want to believe too much and get hurt. He's naturally pessimistic, like many football fans. You could see how giddy he is over Ronaldo, but he's still cautious.
Deep down I think Neville knows but won't say is that he'd be a lot more confident about us winning the title if Tuchel or Pep were managing us instead of Ole. Even if we sign a midfielder I doubt Neville will change his tune.
No he's not but that's mitigated to some extent by the respective summers the three have had.
This summer our recruitment has been by far the best. As good as Klopp and Pep are it ultimately comes down to players and recruitment.
Klopp for instance has really got a job on. If he can win it again with pretty much the same team he's had for 3/4 years that would be some achievement. Maybe his best. He'd kill for our summer.
Ole not as good a manager but the resources he now has means he has to challenge.
He often beats Pep in head to heads. And that was with an inferior squad the last few seasons.
I agree with you, all three of them talking at him at the same time while he kept his composure and answered truthfully. Hasselbank stuttering and going on about mentality shows they agree with him but just winding up.

It's not so much his logic, it's not wanting to have a go at a mate. Which I get. It's not like our national security depends on Gary Neville being objective. It's just a bloke talking about football. So if he's being a bit cute to protect a pal I can understand. We'd probably all do the same.
Once again, a very weird reaction to a perfectly reasonable point from Gary. He's not helped by the presenter and co-hosts either, 'why sign Ronaldo if it doesn't get you the title?', when he's literally just said he thinks it gives us a much better chance of winning it. Unlike Gary, I think we should back ourselves to finish ahead of Chelsea. The simple fact is that in terms of the title, we're up against the best ever Premier League side who have proven on more than one occasion to be capable of getting to 100 points(ish), while we've only ever once squeezed past 90. If they get to that points tally again, it will be extremely hard for us to beat them, and it's unlikely we will, even if Ronaldo should bring us closer to that level. Which is all Gary said.

And we don't have zinchenko, stones or Torres. In those 3 positions we have players of class far beyond city. The pnl place they are stronger is manager
We didnt lose the title because of the midfield last year. We had way too many draws that a top striker (Ronaldo) should solve.
People under estimate what a 20-25 a season player brings to a team that already has good scorers throughout. Without Van Persie, we dont win our last title.
What Gary should have said is, “United probably wont win the title because Ole is the inferior manager out of the title challengers”.

I think you need to understand why......, you realise Levy/Kane wouldnt have gone to Chelsea or done business with us anyway, it just doesnt happen. If you had gone in with 160, or a deal worth that right after the euros, youd have had a very good chance. And 160 for Kane is not that outrageous. City didnt get him because they pissed about, talking about him in public which is something levy doesnt like.

If it was a different manager I think Gary would be going in much stronger. He hasn't because Ole is his mate and I totally get that.
Hasselbank missed a trick when Gary flipped the question around. He should have said what he thinks. United should win it but won't because of the manager. Then put it back to Gary. Where as Gary wants to keep the discussion purely about the players.

I think Kane would frustrate in the same way Rooney used to towards the end of his time at United. He'd spend far too much time playing deep and getting in the way of Fernandes.
Disagree completely. If you ignore age and just go for who's better for 1 season, it's Ronaldo hands down for me for any team in the world and even more so for a team like ours that has attackers (bar Cavani) who range from abysmal to average when it comes to movement and getting to the end of things and have top creators like Bruno and Pogba. I'd take Ronaldo staying in and around the box playing off the shoulder of the defensive line trying to get to the end of things to Kane dropping deep and getting in the way of Pogba + Bruno.
160m for Kane gets us no Varane and no Sancho and certainly no Ronaldo. And no, it doesn’t guarantee us the title, far from it. And I’d rather play it how we did.

But regardless, we won't lose the title in the direct matches vs Pep or Klopp. The title will be decided by the mistakes we make against the likes of Southampton and Wolves. If Ole has vastly greater resources and can't even get the better of Hassenhuttl etc, what's the excuse then?

The reason we keep getting cut open in midfield is because the ball won't stick up front and we end up giving it away with everybody ahead of the ball. Ronaldo isn't going to lose it as softly as our forwards have been doing.
Our midfield is a weak point but we could have Xavi in his prime and still have the same problem. Its on Ole that he can't find a balance in the side.

Totally. Even if we signed a really decent DM we would struggle because we don't have a great coach. But without the DM we're third at best. Ronaldo like Cavani will play in the box so no matter how good he is, he's not going to win games lost in midfield.
