Gary Neville - Pundit

Shaw clearly got the ball. Why couldn't Neill see that?

The fact he described Brady’s challenge as “yellow at best” and didn’t seem to take any issue with Maguires disallowed goal. It says it all really.

Hes literally shitting hinself over every decision and its coming through in his commentary

This is his issue. He’s full of adrenalin, desperately wanting us to win, and it’s objectively impacting upon his ability to commentate on the game.

He commentates like he’s in the boozer with his mates. It was obvious when Bailly and Barnes clashed in the box

It’s not splitting hairs. Neville said over and over over that he didn’t touch the ball, when he clearly did. It changes the whole context of the whether it’s a red or a yellow.

It doesn't

A red would be for dangerous play /being out of control... Getting the ball, even loads of it, has nothing to do with that.

Whether you think it's a red or not (and I don't) you could see someone getting sent off for something like that in a different game.

If it wasn't United he was commenting on, I'd have found it comical and amusing.

He said Brady would be lucky to stay on and repeatedly said the Maguire one was really harsh?

After several replays of seeing it too. I can understand those who may have thought it was a red but it was clear as day he got some of the ball.

The way he went on about that Bailly thing I was fully expecting on the replay to see Bailly had headbutted him or something.

Then you see the replay and it's fecking nothing at all.

Neville needs to calm down

I knew this fecking awful thread would be bumped, Neville was right, if that had been a Burnley challenge we'd be screaming for him to be sent off.

Why did you know the thread would be bumped at that particular moment, out of curiosity?

He didn't though, he just said The defender went down holding his face... Which he did. He said he didn't see what happened though.

He also thought Mee handballed it when he clearly didn't. Things can look different from a long way away.

The Shaw tackle was replayed about 10 times... and every time it showed Shaw touching the ball FIRST before he got the man with his studs.

Despite this, Neville kept repeating that Shaw didn't touch the ball.

I wish the commentator would correct Neville when he says things that are blatantly incorrect.

These antics have become a feature of Neville's commentary when he's covering Utd games, and it's beyond pathetic now.

VAR thought it could have been a red, hence the length of the delay. Redknapp and Morrison both thought it was a red card.

But Neville is a United fan and should try to create a more pro-United narrative. Instead, he's being fair and unbiased.

I get that, but if that tackle is considered dangerous then most tackles could be depending on where the other player’s legs are. The only reason Shaw has followed through like that is because the Burnley player was later getting to the ball.

Completely made up, he said nothing of the sort. Its got to the stage where we're inventing things so we can criticise him.

I agree... But with VAR and slow motion and what not, would you have been that shocked if he pulled out a red?

He doesn’t believe everything should go our way big whoop. Embarrassing on here. Ben Mee takes the ball to the face and he was screaming for a UTD pen.

People are moaning that he's blind. A point coincidentally strengthened by that bizarre incident.

Gary says I think OGS will be happy now, I've never heard as much pi$h in my life we need GOALS

I guess nothing really shocks me any more when it comes to that kind of thing. One thing that annoys me is the effect that commentators can have on the narrative. Neville saying over and over that he didn’t get the ball means that it became a massive talking point, when it really didn’t warrant it.

Needs to be banned from commentating our games. Actively biased against us at this point. Carragher goes against us less than him ffs
