Bale would have the exact same problems that Di Maria is having right now. He'd be an awful signing.
He's absolutely not the winger we need for LVG's possession system, people just want him for the name. Same reason people still think Falcao can turn it around.
Bale and Depay are exactly the type of players we need in the wide positions. We have plenty of players who can stroke the ball outside the penalty area without being any kind of threat. Both of them are well capable of getting in behind the defense, and most importantly, they know where the goal is. Both of them also are threat from outside the box as well, right now we don't have anyone who can shoot from the outside. Sometimes you need players who can smack the ball from the outside when you are not able to break a team down. To finance both of those players, i would gladly let Di Maria move as long as we get close to what we paid for him.
He's not.Still better then any of our wingers
Apparently not private ones that take you door to doorShe'd never heard of trains then.
If we buying somebody from Madrid, surely we'd look at Isco first.
We'd look to improve on position we actually need to improve in. We don't need another attacking midfielder/winger.If we buying somebody from Madrid, surely we'd look at Isco first.
Big fan of his but where would he fit? We already have Mata doing what his role.If we buying somebody from Madrid, surely we'd look at Isco first.
07-08 was the season Ron went on to his 42 goals, wasn't it? 06-07 was when his all round game was probably at it's peak. Running, taking on and beating defenders. Assisting, scoring etc. But I think he still only managed around 20 goals that season (still immense for a "pure" winger though).Sign Bale - get him on the left flank. He was devastating on the left for spurs from 2010 - 2012. Then they started moving him about, right wing, number 10 and so on and whilst he still score a lot of goals his best displays were as a left winger - closest thing to a peak Giggs i have seen.
Similar to Ronaldo when many agree he was a better player in 06-07 then when he went mental scoring a goal every game.
So Bale on the left for me with Di Maria playing inside of him would be a nightmere for any right back.
If Di Maria was to go then id offer him to PSG and bring Lucas Moura in so we have a different type of winger on the right hand side.
Thats what i meant. Probably didnt word it very well07-08 was the season Ron went on to his 42 goals, wasn't it? 06-07 was when his all round game was probably at it's peak. But yeah. Bale and Depay/AdM exchanging wings in a 4-3-3 next season would be mint.
Just the prices being thrown about. Selling them DDG represents our best chance of getting Bale, and getting a good price for DDG, IMO. DDG + 50m quid or something like that. Otherwise I can see Madrid getting DDG for a pittance![]()
Yeah, re-read your sentence and it's (sorta) clear that that's what you meantThats what i meant. Probably didnt word it very well
He certainly doesn't seem like the right sort of player for our formation. It really would surprise me if LVG wants Bale, but I have a feeling Woodward will buy him whether LVG agrees or not.Would he flourish in a strict LVG tactical display ? Having 65 to 70 % the ball every game is good for somebody like him ?
I thought that Di Maria would have been an absolute crack here, but it seems that he's too wasteful for LVG, and I can't see Bale playing with us and only making passes.
He needs space, the ball and beating opponents to let his talent flourish.
Anyway IF we manage to have Bale + Di Maria in the same team next year, there’s no doubt that we’ll be very tough to beat… But it’s all down to LVG
Di Maria to PSG
Bale to UTD
Reus to Real Madrid
Di Maria to PSG
Bale to UTD
Reus to Real Madrid
Would not bet my house on it but stranger things happened.
Before reus signed that new contract last month i think this would be a probable scenario.
In that Scenario Real would use the Bale Money to get him. Anything above 50 Mio EUR might be hard to resist for Dortmund.
I disagree with you Sam I see what you are getting at though. But I see Young revive the ball a dozen or so times on the wing 1 vs 1 30 yards from the byeline (Villa game) and never beat a man only feigning back to his right and crossing to a defender to head it out. Wasteful? Probably limited is more fairer, Bale would eat these situations up and free space up for our other attackers. Plus he would add a new dimension breaking forward from our own half with his drives and blistering pace. His shooting from outside the box and his free kicks would also add to our attack. If Bale is available we should sign him up unless Madrid are wanting more than they paid for him.
Thats exactly what Di Maria is fantastic at. But in our current set up, he gets very few (if any) opportunities to do that in a game. Why would it be any different for Bale?
Think Di Maria would benefit greatly from being in the same team as Bale. Di Maria's best season came from breaking deep from midfield with players in front of him this season he's played as a winger in which he is not much better than Nani.
Why would you care what he's going to be doing in his 30's?2 things bother me about Bale, despite the fact I think he's a game winner and would flourish in a team whom affords him in lone free role,
1. his price, obviously... I mean dropping 80-100mill on him, would bring instant success unlike someone you would have to groom, but thats a fair chunk of change that you may feel could have been put to better use on developing a younger prospect, once Bale starts to lose his speed and explosive style when entering the 30's.
2. His durability, it feels like to me he's prone to picking up a few knocks a season and missing game time, unlike say... a Ronaldo who's basically fit.. always.
Why would you care what he's going to be doing in his 30's?
He's 25, unlike RVP when we signed him. He's got +-6 years left of his pace. 6 years is a long time in football. If he comes in, tears it apart for 6 years, why would you care about what he'll do after that? 33/34/35 year olds don't contribute much at the very highest level of club football. For 80-100 million you'd want a number of good years out of a player? surely? RvP is only 31 and looks ready for the glue factory, we basically got 1 good season out of his 24mill transfer and 200k a week wages... not saying it wasnt worth it, but ideally you want some longterm value with your cash?
or am i reading your question wrong?

I agree. But I doubt we'll see Di Maria in midfield for LVG again, any time soon.
Too simple. Lets try this:Di Maria to PSG
Bale to UTD
Reus to Real Madrid
I partially agree. I think he's great (thought I think that he has never been on top 10 players int he world) and very suited to this league, but Bale and posession football doesn't sound very possible.I hope we don't end up with Bale. I see it as a massive risk with the fees involved. I don't think he's good enough to live up to his price tag or anything near it.
