Gareth Bale

I think Bale would be fantastic at United. Memphis will take a few years to fulfil his potential.

Hey my friend :)!!

I think Bale is quality... I am just not sure he is the quality valued by LVG. Bale's game seem predicated on instinct and speed. LVG likes a much more cerebral approach imho. As such not sure how they would mesh.

As for Depay I think he will be the foundation of our next great squad, much like when Ronaldo first came to us. My hope is we compete for the title next year, but we dominate for years after that both domestically and abroad :).

Because he relies on space and counter attacking to thrive? Two things that he'll get none of in an LVG United team.

He thrives on space agreed but to say he relies on it is wrong. I'd happily watch Bale get the ball 30 yards from opposition goal every match if he was a United player. Plus if we were building or breaking from our own half he adds qualities we don't have. If available and for anything like Madrid bought him then we must make all efforts to sign him. He's better than Hazzard quite simple decision imo.

I don't think buying Memphis has anything to do with the Bale deal at all.

Agreed.

It all comes down to whether or not Real decide they wanna cash in and get there money back for him or not. I think they will probably give him another season though if he performs like he did this year his value would fall a lot.

I really hope they put him up for sale. If they do, I am certain Woody would go on a warpath.

He's not half as good as Hazard.

Hazard is yet to reach Bales heights

Hazard is still the better player. He has more to his game, is more well rounded, has more potential, and has the kind of longevity potential that Bale doesn't (once the legs have gone).

Apparently Real Madrid have a 100 percent win record without Bale.

Is that why Bale is getting his car kicked in by fans nowadays and Hazard wont POTY this season at a lesser club?

Could have made the point with reference to performances, but nah, probably better to base it on the most petulant fans in Europe and the poorest Premier League season for years.

People seem to forget what Bale achieved last season. Wonder goal in the Spanish Cup final against Barcelona and the most important goal in the Champions League final. Football fans have very short memories.

Bale was average enough last season though. As you said he scored a few big goals, but his performances over the whole season were pretty underwhelming. Good given it was his first season in a new league/club and given he had injuries at the start, but hardly anything more than "something to build on next year".

Hazard has magnificent skill set but Bale is devastating in full flow. Both quality we have no chance of Hazard now but a slight chance of Bale. Get the cash out Ed and sign him up. If he gets back to the level at Spurs we have the best player in the league. Hazard quality that he is has yet to reach the level Bale produced. Hazard could surpass that level but so far he is still to match it and the thing people are forgetting is Bale has not peaked he could easily kick on again and become a Ronaldo Messi stat type player.

Crikey, how Liverpool would kill for 'something to build on next year'!

What have Liverpool got to do with Gareth Bale and his performances?

I think your opinion is ridiculous and a reflection of the modern culture of criticism. Bale achieved career defining things last season yet you frame it as being unremarkable. Those kinds of successes are things that 2015 Liverpool can only dream of. You must be a very disappointed man.

No, you're drawing too many conclusions based on a couple of games from Bale (and in the Champions League final he was poor anyway, goal or not). Over the whole season he had more good performances than this season but generally his output was covering poor matches.

People are right to criticise Bale, he's been lazy and greedy this season, Madrid play better without him and yet he's undroppable.

Again, it's a bit odd to try and drag Liverpool into this.

I could have, but I was pissed at the time of comment so went for the more illogical point

Hazard's POTY season wasn't a patch on Bale's POTY season. I think it's obvious Bale's just at the wrong club and in the wrong team.

That said, I'm not overly confident he'd fit into LvG's system either. He would've thrived in a Fergie team, though.

Would have put us back into being one of the best counter-attacking teams in the world. Some of Rooney's best moments were in a counter attack with Ronaldo. Bale on the right would have been devastating.

Slow patient play however may not be ideal for him. Looking at Depay, he seems to be like a player that can switch the pace immediately, whereas Bale's key strength is hitting the ball at pace.

I find it hilarious questioning whether Bale would ''fit'' our ''style'' of play. We're fecking crying out for quality. He would be the best player in the league when he inevitably finds his form again.

Again, it's all about whether Real Madrid get the itch to shift him, which currently still looks unlikely but it still very possible. We can only wait and see.

.

Just like Di Maria? Or Mata? Or Falcao?....There's far more to it then just being a big name.

As for best player in the league, Sanchez and Hazard say hi.

Also consider the international performances of hazard and bale.

Bale winning games on his own. 49 caps 16 goals.

Hazard often fails to have as much impact as he does for his club. 56 caps 7 goals.

Also consider it should be easier for hazard to stand out internationally playing with better players and are a higher seed and so play against weaker teams.

@carvajal keep seeing you prefer Bale on the left. What's your plan to play then?
To let him run freely on the left, using that speed to assist.Did he start as a LB right?.On the right after or before he has to stop trying to look for combinations and there he is not so useful

But is it a waste to Marcelo attack then? Who's on the right also

yea he's off. no way he stays there another year with his agent making these kind of statements.

Bale's didn't deserve his POTY seasons anyway, especially not the first. The first was decent at best, but had 2 great performances vs Inter that won him the award (Even though it shouldn't be taken into account). His second, both Suarez and Van Persie had better seasons and Van Persie won the title for us and had more goals and assists while Bale scored like 5 or 6 screamers from outside the box in the second half of the season and that was it.

He was great for spurs in that last half of a season, and a match winner, but the team was completely built around him and the one thing that stuck out with him was the shooting from range. Hazard is just a much better player all around and can do so much more then Bale IMO.

It's in his best interest to leave. My only worry is Bayern Munich and Chelsea getting him over us.

Bayern won't want such a technically lacking player, Mourinho won't want such a lazy player.

For all the criticism he actually had a good first half yesterday. Maybe it's become fashionable now to be critical of him.

Bale definitely deserved his second one. He was absolutely the best player in the league that season. Suarez missed a lot of games and RvP didn't reach the levels of his previous season (he had a 2 month barren spell for us, for example).

There's just no way Hazard is better than him, not yet, not until he sorts out his end product.
