Gareth Bale

From a Real Madrid forum: (fororealmadrid)
By God, I hope Flo has not deleted the United emails offering us €150m ... I can see him tonight rummaging through the trash.

He really is getting a lot of the blame for them not winning. It seems like they are having a similar problem to us, in that they have too many big names (the famed BBC) which have to start every game, but which are making the team very unbalanced.

Having said that, they are still top though.

Does anybody honestly feel the fans and media pressure might drive him out ? I find it hard to believe but if he is going to be the scapegoat every time they lose I guess its not impossible

I'm starting to think that the more this rumbles on, the more chance we actually have of getting him. He seems to be the target of abuse for every defeat, even if Ronaldo has actually played worse in the game. I think Reus will leave Dortmund in Summer and if he does in fact go to Real then that will open the door for Bale IMO.

I hope you're right. He could make us title contenders.

He has been absolutely slaughtered by the Madrid press today.....

Described as, a 'defensive disaster’, ‘irrelevant’ 'useless in this Madrid team' and 'disposable'

Wonder if he can see himself in a United jersey now?
Although, LVG will sign him and play him in goal

Sounds like an RM campaign to persuade Bale to bail.
*twirls conspiracy mustache*

He deserves to be slaughtered. Hasn't performed well and doesn't make up for it with hard work, he's been lazy and greedy. Hard to excuse that when you aren't playing well on the ball...

He should be dropped when James and/or Modrić is back. Maybe even now, for Jesé.

Well if Real Madrid want rid of him then we should not be bidding anywhere near the asking price. 120 million or so is far too much.

Any media outlet suggested a swap deal with Di Maria yet?

I'm triggering/trending this suggestion.

Isn't this how Madrid operate? Get the media to do their dirty work and turn the fans against the player they want to dispose of?

I'm sure they did it with di Maria and remember reading numerous other examples at the time which I can't recall now. Ozil maybe?

Great news, let them slaughter him every week, may get him on the cheap then (cheap as in £60m)

That would be excellent business for United, Bale needs a team building around him like Spurs did with him, Madrid's team is built around Ronaldo

Ding ding.

And what makes you think we'd build team around him?

Why wouldn't we?

Uhm, why would we? It's hard to tell around who the feck we're building it around at the moment because we're packing our formation with big names so we'd probably fit him in as well but it would be hardly building anything around him, probably just another big name player played out of his position.

You lot never learn. We should not be signing Bale, especially for the money it would cost.

He can feck off if he comes back, cap in hand, wanting to play for us. Especially if he expects us to pay more now than if he chose to sign a year ago. He's an idiot and should be left to regret his decision.

I don't think we will be getting Bale any time soon. He is loved by the club and the players. The fans are making him the scapegoat unfairly. I can't see him moving.

Let's call a spade a spade. Picking us over Madrid would have been an idiotic decision.

Are you trying to say we shouldn't be signing world class talent? Genuinely no idea what your point is here

Why won't he last?

Not good enough? He's good, but if their entire team is fit he shouldn't even be in the first team.

He really needs to improve defensively, for some reason he thinks he's earned the right to be lazy and selfish without having the impact going forward to make up for it.

First off, we'd get rinsed for him. We'd have little money to reinvest elsewhere.

People seem to think signing him would solve our issues, but they have their head in the clouds. He was massively overhyped for what he did for Spurs, though, admittedly, he was playing well and couldn't stop scoring.

Watch him now for Madrid though and he's not a player I'd want here. He's got ahead of himself and plays like he thinks he's better than he is. You know there's something wrong when Madrid media and supporters complain about your workrate as an attacker.

A lot of people only seem to be concerned with big names and superstars that have achieved it all elsewhere, but then can't figure out what's wrong when they aren't performing for us.

Exactly this. They have more talented players in the likes of Isco and probably Rodriguez. There will be a more technically rounded, supremely talented player come along soon that will force him out. You've got to be incredibly good to last there.

All the journalists that cover La Liga that I have heard recently all say the club are delighted with him.

I wouldn't dispute that, it's impossible for me to know. What is clear though is that Bale is not performing well and Ancelotti declaring that he, Cristiano and Benzema will always play when fit is going to cause them problems when Modrić and James return.

At the minute the likes of Isco and Kroos are being overworked because of the poor work rate of their forwards, Bale included. In the big games especially, he has to be a lot better defensively.

Well that's one of our problems, we have no player our team is built around. All successful Manchester United teams have had a player the team is built around.

Sir Alex's last season it was built around RVP (wingers crossing for him to finish, Rooney playing out of position for him) and it won us the league.

Most top/successful teams have that singlear player a team revolves around for said player to take all the headlines.

City - Aguero
Chelsea - Costa
Barcelona - Messi
Madrid - Ronaldo
Arsenal - Sanchez

I thought it could be Di Maria with us the way he started the season, but he's inconsistent in his performances, so you can't build a team around him + he's always been a sidekick at other clubs and his country so maybe that's where you get the best out of him.

Bale's the type of player who i don't think works as well playing a sidekick, in the same way Messi or Ronaldo wouldn't, so if you sign someone like Bale, you build your team around him.

Bale has to be who we go all out for in the summer. He was carrying an average spurs side and just isn't having such a great time in his second season at Madrid.

Bale, Di Maria and Mata would be a perfect 3 in behind a striker.

He's not even worth that.

Well he obviously is, I mean c'mon now. Are people actually forgetting how good this guy is?

Most expensive player ever
3 time PFA player of the year
Scores and turns up clutch in pretty much every big game he's played in

and most importantly he can put the entire team on his back and win you a match, which is something we just don't have any more due to the "decline" or bad form of our players such as RVP and Rooney.

He's much better than Isco and Rodriquez imo.

Whether it's Bale, Depay, Lucas...i just hope we're after someone who can quicken our play. Of course Bale has the added ability to make something from nothing, but only if Madrid are willing to be reasonable on the fee.

What if Louis does to Bale what he's done to Di Maria?

What then?

LVG isn't a idiot lol.

Besides Bale has been top class for about 2/3 seasons now, he's much more consistent than Di Maria. Although the latter can be just as good if he can be bothered.

Hardly top class for 2/3 seasons. He was brilliant for Spurs but last season he wasn't top class - great considering it was his first at a new club with some crucial key goals, but not top class. Now he's regressed in 14/15 instead of kicking on.
